I have a great Thai place that I love going to back home, so I wanted to make sure I got something here I couldn’t get at home. I’m sure the drunken noodles, pad Thai, or the pad see ew are great here… but I want something unique.

Lotus specializes in Northern Thai cuisine. It’s hard to find a good duck dish, so I got the Khao Soi with crispy duck.

It’s crispy duck over noodles in a red curry/coconut milk creamy sauce, and it was good. The duck tastes like it’s in between chicken and turkey, and the skin is thin but crispy like paper. The sauce was great too!
looks like you beat me to it. I'm flying in late tonight and plan to eat Friday night at Lotus.

Go to Urth Cafe at the Wynn. It’s down the hall past allegro (the direction the old Wynn poker room used to be and the Ferrari museum), past YSL, and up the escalator on the right. All the way down on the right is Urth Cafe and your lucky if there’s not a huge line. get there before 8:30-9 or after 12:30-1pm or you will wait 20-30 min easily. Or better yet, order ahead and pick it up and eat at one of their empty tables. The strong/dark lattes are amazing and they have a huge selection of breakfast and lunch items. The huevos ranchero burrito is pretty good as are the gluten free pancakes. You can’t go wrong with either. Plus they have a serve yourself water station which is a huge plus. I eat there every day in the morning when I stay at Wynn.

You need to hit some of those off strip places you mentioned. Make a reservation for Esther’s and check out Yukon pizza, that pizza looks like it knocks the socks off any pizza you’ve posted so far. That or maybe go downtown, have a little fun, play the uncapped $1/$2 at GN and do Pizza Rock.

Last night didn’t go well after dinner, which is why I wasn’t motivated to post about it.

I get called for 3/5, and as I get to the new table, I see three players are all in on a Tc-5d-4c flop, and the big stack is thinking about calling $956 more. There’s lots of talking, and the dealer is frantically trying to keep the main and two side pots correct. Eventually the big stack calls.

The shortest player has Ac2c, the next player has 44, the next player has 5c6c, and the chip leader called $950 more with… Ad8d?!?

The turn of the 3d is quite the sweat, giving the shortest player a wheel, but back door diamonds to the big stack. The river is the Jc, giving the shortest player the main pot, and the 5c6c player the largest side pots.

Well then, let’s sit right in, looks like these people came to gamble!

Second hand I’m dealt is QQ from UTG+1, so I open 25. The big stack from the crazy all in hand, who is no longer a big stack after calling off ~950 more with A high, decides to 3bet to 80. Well, after seeing that, I’m definitely not folding QQ pre to this guy, so I 4bet to 225… and he immediately shoves. Don’t love that, but I stick to the plan and call… and his KK holds.

I top up and grind some more, busting a player when I call a c/r with an open ender and turn the nuts. Then the player I described earlier opens to 20 from the CO, I call along with some others, with 6s4s. Flop Th-3s-2s, so I checkraise his cbet. He calls, and the turn is the Tc, which is a better card for my c/r range than him, so I continue…. And he calls. River is another deuce. Well, he could have called with better spades, so I need to follow through here, and I fire another 315 on the river, trying to rep a strong T. He calls fairly quickly with 55…. Guess I shouldn’t be trying to bluff this player.

About a half hour later, I get involved with the same player again, opening Kd5d first in from CO, and he calls in BB. Flop K-K-Q, so I make a healthy cbet, which he calls. Turn is a deuce, and he checks again, so I bet big again. He calls, and we see a 9 river and he checks. Well, JT just got there, but I think I’m ahead and can bet for value, so I go for another big bet, targeting a stubborn Q. He snaps with KJ… and I was behind, valuetowning myself the whole way.

Some days you correctly identify the spot, and just can’t beat them.

At that point, I didn’t feel like topping up so I picked up the rest of it.

Today, I slept late, and walked to the Wells Fargo at the strip and Charleston. Pulled out some more money for my last weekend in town. The plan hasn’t changed…. Try to bring home as much as I can. No more 2/5, though. I clearly need more work on my game.

Yukon Pizza was only a little bit further of a walk down Charleston, so I headed there for lunch.

I got basically the same kind of pizza from yesterday: pepperoni, sausage, garlic, and red onions.

It was marginally better than the Social Life pizza, but not appreciably so. It had the old world smaller pepperonis that turn up crispy on the edges, which I like. The dough is real good, a sourdough that baked up crispy on the outside, and chewy in the middle. And I think there’s a dash of red peppers in the sauce, it has an ever so slight kick, compared to other pizza sauces.

Didn’t get a chance to try a burger, maybe next time.

Called ahead to get on the list for 2/4 at Venetian, let’s get this comeback underway!

Like you read my mine on Yukon. Apparently their yeast for their sourdough is from the Yukon mining days and over 100 years old. That looks good but not crazy good or as good as I expected. The smash burger they make does look great maybe I’ll stick to that.

In my experience in vegas, when I see that player at the table, who is likely playing down or over rolled, they understand how they look "gambly" to a competent player, they never fold a pair or better on any board, and tend to play sneaky once image established

NLHE Action was great at CP and Orleans while I was there a few days ago.

I just caught up on this thread, bummer the the results in the cash games have been so lousy. Vegas is not the easiest place to make money in cash games! Lotta pros and grinders. It seems like you have to run really good just to get 1-2 spewy types at your table, and then just pray that you run ok. I feel much better about myself playing in LA or Texas or Florida, where the games are much fishier and passive. How do Vegas games compare to where you’re from?!

Also you might want to check out Ellis Island for breakfast before a tourney at the Horseshoe, pretty local prices, $9.99 steak and eggs!

Agreed with others that prices on the strip have been crazy this year. I paid $12 for a 6 inch sandwich at Subway, $18 for a hot dog at Bellagio, $20 for a bad gyro, brutal.

Anyway, best of luck, here’s to a strong finish!

Decided to fire the 1 pm $250 daily deepstack tournament at the WSOP.

Already scored a knockout when my set of 8’s held against a nut flush draw.

Let’s goooooo!!

First break, at 52k from a 25k starting stack, chipleader at my table. Just peacefully grinding… we’re up to 550 entries so far with late reg open for a few more levels.

No interesting spots yet… I 3bet a guy to 3700 and a short stack cold 4b-shoved 7k, I called and lost the flip to AQo. Then I won a nice pot without showdown with KK.

Just playing tight, and hoping I don’t go card dead in the faster middle levels.

Keep going TJ! A deep run and a bink would certainly be one for the good guys here, let's see it.

You really want to run up a stack ahead of the late stages when they're skipping blind levels, but plenty of time for that - GL!

Are you going to play the Monster Stack?

Reading this damn forum has gotten me too excited and I'm hunting for last second flights and rooms. I can verify that prices are high for a 3 day weekend.

Second break, things are going just peachy. Chipleader at my table with 115k, coming back to 1k/1.5k/1.5k. Next closest to me has maybe 80k, and I’m two to his left.

I busted two players the last 4 levels, in very straightforward, low drama spots. I open AJo from MP, and bet/bet/shoved an A-J-9-7-5 rainbow runout. I expected more from the guy with the matching royal flush tattoos on both wrists (hearts and spades) than triple check/calling off his tournament life with JTs. Well, he was also wearing a Lions hat, so he knows existence is pain.

The other hand, I open KK from UTG+1, fire a healthy cbet at T-7-4 rainbow, bet a committing amount on the 3 turn, got it in and held vs 87s.

With these fast levels, I predict some major chip consolidation occurring over the next 4 levels. Gonna play tight, and try to avoid major mis-steps. But I’m not afraid to flip for less than half my stack, if I think I’m flipping.

Over 700 players now, let’s spin!

Just closed registration and announced the prize pool. 730 entries, currently 320 players left, bubble at 110 players, first place $27k.

Sure would be nice!

On a 30 minute color up break (no dinner break in a daily)…. Won a huuuuge pot right before the end of the level. Table had been playing tight, I had been playing even tighter, and the short stack pushbot had just doubled up, so I thought it was a good spot to open 5h6h from UTG+1 to 10.5k at 2k/4k. A healthy stack calls behind me at MP1, and he floats my cbet on J-3-2r. Turn is a glorious 4, so I bet again, and he ships. I snap, Ad5d is no good, and I fade the river chop.

Sitting on 279k coming back to 3k/6k. Average is 112k, so I’ve gotta be a top 10 stack, and the comfortable chip leader at my table.

The board said 162 left, so it’s likely lower than that. Bubble at 110, but I’ve got my sights set much higher than mincashing.

Let’s gooooooo!

In the money!

Lost one trying to flip with 44, but ran into QQ. Then I made a hero call vs the same guy with 55 on a 8-2-4-K-K (3 hearts) runout and was good vs A3o

300ish k now

On break with 246k, coming back to 10k/20k/20k. Average is around 320k, so it’s time to activate my pushbot.

Got my stack in bad, with Kh9h from the button over a cbet on 9-8-6. Was up against A9, but it ran out 7-T for the chop.

50ish players left, cashing now is still not particularly notable.
