Very uneventful day yesterday. Signed some paperwork and took a drug test. Went to The O from there and quickly got into a 4-8 O8 game. Started off well +$50, but then took a nose dive from there. Was -$150 at lowest point. Surged back to -$60 before having to pick my friend up from work. Let’s give him a name, Dan.

I don’t think I played particularly poorly, just couldn’t fold a winner for about 3 hours straight. One of my problems is that get impatient after a couple of hours and I will play mediocre hands that get me in trouble. There is ok WiFi in The O poker room so I am going to try to watch some streams on my phone to pass the time. I hate being that guy, but I only held up the action once yesterday.

After picking Dan up from work he dropped me off at home and rushed to a dinner appt. I walked around the corner and got below average pizza for the game. Not trying to sound snobby, but I’m an original New Yorker, so any pizza will probably be below average to me. Not happy with the result, but broke even when my Cavs spread bet pushed my ml bet. I wouldn’t expect anything less from JR Smith. On the bright side, the meme game was strong last night and my group chats were hysterical passing them back and forth. I disagree with the refs overturning the charge call on LeBron at the end of regulation. I agree that it was a block, but why are they reviewing fouls? That is a judgement area, very different from a foot on a line or a shot off in time. How do you determine what fouls to review, or what is the tipping point between a block/charge? I am happy they got the call correct, but if they’re going to review one, then they have to review all fouls, not just en game situations.

Today looks to be more of the same. After I drop Dan at work, I’m going to meet my mom for lunch then head back to The O for some more torture. I wish I had more pictures for you guys, but I haven’t done or seen much that has been picture worthy. Maybe I can build a decent tower of chips for the thread.

Have you tried Secret Pizza @ Aria? If so thoughts?

Any NY style pizza places you like in Vegas?

I'm really liking this TR btw.

regarding your comments on game 1: spot on - i was disappointed in reversal of the charge into a lebron block, refs are only supposed to review the restricted area. also, i have always hated JR Smith, and now i have more fuel to the fire. As someone with no dog in the fight i tend to lean towards the underdog, and I feel like they missed their chance which might have been their only one

helluva game tho

good luck to you

bold prediction- OP never goes back to Georgia. He runs above average gambling, makes decent money dealing, lands a full time gig.

No Bobby's in Georgia, no reason to go back (Varsity? Idk)

try Naked City Pizza on Arville ( Not the one on Paradise ). Their Guinea Pie Pizza and Buffalo Tenders Pizza is very good. Sicilian Style.

Plus, Great wings... Best in town IMO

If you’re from NYC or upstate you’re probably not going to like Buffalo style pizza. I’m from Buffalo which has some great food but pizza isn’t one.

Another snobby comment: I try not to eat pizza outside of NY, just doesn’t do it for me. Ate it the other night because the only other option was bad Chinese food.

As great as this sounds, I will definitely be going back to Georgia this summer. There are responsibilities I have for the next couple of years. After that though, Vegas is definitely on the radar. Also, this dealing job is only temp for the summer. The pay rates for the non-summer months do not work for me.

No Bobby’s, but Cookout is a close second. I’ve had Varsity a handful of times, but Cookout is the preferred spot.

I will definitely be checking out these wings.

I spend a lot of time in Georgia and normally pass cookout to get to Bojangles. Would you mind giving me the go to order at cookout? I’ll hit it next month

I am from down state and LOVE buffalo chicken pizza, as long as it’s garlic and not red sauce based.

I usually get a tray: cajun chicken sandwich, chicken quesadilla, fries, mint chocolate chip shake, $7.

Cookout is only noteworthy for their really low prices - the food is best described as “edible”.

Yesterday started with meeting my mom for brunch. We decided on

I really like this place and usually get the gumbolaya, but I was in the mood for eggs and settled for a ham and onion skillet.

Not pictured are their delicious banana nut muffins because I devoured it before I thought to snap it. If you’ve never been to one of these it is also highly recommended.

From there I went with my mom to sell some of her old jewelry and do some shopping of my own. I’m getting to the point in life where I need to buy a ring, so I priced a couple while I was there. I’ve never done this before so I guess I should find out what my girlfriend likes before I do anything.

My next stop was The O for more 4-8 O8 torture. I ended up having one of the best times I’ve had at a poker table in a while. Took me about 30 mins to get a seat, which wasn’t bad since my name wasn’t even visible on the list when I arrived. I got settled in and won a few pots early. I know some people like hand histories, but I just suck at them. It is a great feeling though when you get raised holding nut high multi-way in this game. At my peak my stack looked like this

I ended up +$90 for the day. What made it a great session was the people sitting around me had great conversation and I did not have to put my headphones in once to focus. The guy on my left was friendly and we talked a bit of poker throughout. The guy on my right talked hardly any poker, but had a lot to say about his life and was nice enough to answer the questions I peppered him with. He’s a 75 year old local, who’s wife passed away a number of years ago, and he’s currently married to a Filipino woman 20+ years younger than him. He told me about his trips to the Philippines, a cruise he is going on, and directed me to the best Filipino food in the area. It’s a restaurant called Goldilocks if anybody is interested. I will let you all know my take once I try it.

The night ended how every night should end, a stop at Bobby’s and Fortnite. I went in a different direction and tried the chicken enchiladas

No complaints and will definitely get them again.

I finally fixed my blinding morning sunlight situation and was able to sleep in past 6:30am. I got in some Fortnite with friends back east and am ready to start my day. I think I am going to hit Bobby’s then head back to The O to get a few hours in. My friend plays for the Colorado Springs USL soccer team and they’re playing the Vegas team tonight, so I’ll be heading over to watch him play and catch up with him. The O is running a tournament series and there is an 11am PLO tournament tomorrow morning I am thinking about playing. $150 and the structure doesn’t look awful. Once my job starts I don’t think I will be able to play any of these, so I’ll probably take a shot at one now.

The quality vs price consideration definitely puts Cookout near the top of the list, for me.

Good TR so far. I guess I should have looked at some of the other TRs while I was in Vegas cause I'm pretty sure you and I were at Orleans at the same time at least once.

For others interested, Orleans seemed to be getting good turnouts for the tournaments when I was there.

Fairly uneventful afternoon yesterday. Played a session at The O. Was down about $250 before making a run and leaving only down $125. I was happy with my play, just couldn’t make a hand. It got so bad people were beating me and didn’t even know their hand. I am heading back soon to play their HORSE tournament tonight. I used to love playing this game during the Full Tilt days, so I figure I’ll give it a shot tonight.

After leaving The O last night, I went to the LV Lights FC soccer game. A friend of mine plays for the Colorado Springs team and they were in town.

The game was ok, it resembled a high wuality Sunday League match, but the fan section for the Lights was very much into it. They announced a crowd of 5,000 but I don’t believe that. The highlight (or lowlight) of the night was seeing this guy

Hard to see, but that’s Freddy Adu. While this is one of the most tragic situations, I don’t think he was really 14 when he said he was.

After the game we met up and walked around downtown to catch up. Heard some good things about Gold Spike so we stopped in. Decent little spot, but probably wouldn’t go back. I thought it was a bit overpriced, both entry fee and drinks.
