Leon,

Do you use a program to post your photos on 2+2? I thought I remembered having to uploaded them to some site that hosted the pics and then I could post them on 2+2. I play the Deuces Wild 100 Play at Red Rock and I have a small sample of hands that I wanted to post but I wasn't sure how to do so. I did a search on 2+2 but wasn't able to find anything. I was probably searching for the wrong thing. Also, the next time you are in Vegas please feel free to PM me and we can meet up and have some lunch/dinner and then hit the high limit area.

Guy,

Are you in Vegas? It looks like you may be as you have LAS as your location. Any chance you'd like to meet up with a fellow long time 2+2er? I live near Red Rock so I'm usually there but I also play at Bellagio, Aria, and Wynn. I'll be at the Stratosphere today playing the deepstack tourney at noon.

Sunday, part 1

And... I'm up at 6am! A whole 4 hrs of sleep. I rationalize I can always sleep by the pool or take a nap later and I'm up. Grab the usual coffee and feed the ticket in...

This may be as high as this gets. I sure hope not.

Within 5 min, I'm hitting again!

Keep these random bolts of lightning coming!

BANG!

BANG! THIRD dealt quads of the trip! Come on, make it aces!!!!

I'm just killing it. I get a text from our friends- they just touched down! I knew they were getting in early, but not this early. My wife is still asleep and I haven't gotten her her morning coffee yet. However, this is a good thing. I'm legit excited to see them and this way we can all eat breakfast together. I text them that I'll meet them at the Tower Suites entrance and figure I've got 15-20 min of play left in me.

And... I hit again!

Result from that AM session-
Spoiler:

As can be seen, I just ran so purely. Hit for 8k+ in jackpot, playing over an hr of 10 play. Net ~ 6k. That is just amazing. I'm so stoked- I'm basically up 18k. I cash out and walk over to the entrance, just so happy to be in Vegas, so happy to be up, etc.

And I wait. And wait. And wait. Turns out, the Uber my friends got took them first to the Encore, then the Wynn main entrance. I partly blame my friends, bc I told them several times and was very specific they'd have to say Tower suites/South side entrance, but no matter. They make it.

Unsurprisingly, their room isn't ready. What's weird is at the VIP/Tower suites check in, the desk tries to tell them they need to check in at the "Tower suites side"?? Whatever that means. I explain they're on my reservation and the desk says "this is for VIP check in only, they need to check in on the Tower suites side". Again I'm confused, and I guess they meant the other bank of desks about 50 ft away that doesn't have it's own little area. I ask them to let me check them in here, and they agree "as a courtesy". They make the point that bc they're "not VIP", they will be unable to get the free coffee, snacks etc from the room next door, to which I tell my friends "which just means I'll have to walk in there and grab them for you".

I don't get it- why go out of the way to make someone feel worse? Just check them in, don't mention the whole coffee thing. Same result. I dunno, that was a weird customer service decision. Anyways, they ditch their bags in our room, we grab my wife and we head to the buffet.

CUE MEAL #1 WITH NO PICS. SORRY

That said, we all grabbed standard buffet fare. We end up sitting there for over an hour just chatting and catching up. Eventually, I start getting the itch to gamble again. The ladies are going to hit the pool. Friend husband is not ready for the pool yet- he's going to gamble with me. Sweet. Also, my wife needs to use up

And I assume the ladies will do some window shopping at some point. Either way, I'm weapons free to gamble it up.

I start heading towards the blackjack tables with my friend, on the assumption that's what we're playing. However, he tells me he's not quite ready and actually just wants to watch me mash buttons. Okie dokie, just fine with me.

I feed the ticket back in, and the hits keep coming. FOURTH dealt quads of the trip!

Spoiler:

MY god if they found a way to make these aces, 2, 3 or 4s!

My friend has been asking some basic strat questions and I can tell he's about ready to jump in. I propose we partner which would lessen his exposure and variance. However, he declines and decides to go alone, three play. He feeds in 100 and... loses. Another 100, lose. His last 100 he was going to dedicate and towards the end he makes 4 to a royal...

Spoiler:

OMFG that is ridiculous!

We're hi-fiving and laughing. I confirm with him- that is the single biggest score he's ever gotten gambling. Now he's got money to burn, and we commence hammering at the machines side by side. I tell him to text his wife and let her know, and she's super happy as well.

I make another hand.

He's playing super slow and I'm correcting his mistakes. Overall, he picks the game up fast and would probably be playing at near full payback without my help anyways. My host's assistant texts me- my 1k free slot credit has come in. They couldn't preload it on my card (can't have two offers at the same time and I got the 750$ shopping card already) but promised it after I checked in.

I go through several 4-5k up and downswings, courtesy of-

and

Pretty crazy, I've been in town less than 24 hrs and have already hit 3 royals, and been a part of 4 if you count my friend's. Speaking of my friend, he's now down about 1500 from his height and about ready to take a break. We've played well past lunch and the ladies have been at the pool for hours. Sounds good. At my height I had 23k in the machine and was up 22k- wish I took a pic of the number. Couldn't quite crack the 25k barrier though, and now I'm back down to 18.5k which is pretty much where I started. This game is so swingy- two royals and another hit or two and yet I'm EVEN for the session.

The "best" hit ever

Friend's wife texts- she needs to pump (their youngest is still breast feeding). Their room has been ready for a while, so she'll meet us at the machines, we'll head to my room to get their stuff and then they'll go to theirs. My wife is staying at the pool, so we'll all meet up there. So we play on for a bit while we wait for his wife.

My friend picks up a premium trip draw, all of which he has thus far blanks. BINK he hits this one for another 2k, and all of the sudden he's up 4k again. I assume his wife will show up just in time to see him get paid, but she misses it. Basically as soon as they unlock the machine, he gets dealt three to a royal and a 4-flush. He asks me the right play.

I tell him the "right" play is the 4 flush, but 3 to a royal is close, and it's a question of gamble or not. He asks what would I do, and of course I say "gamble gamble". He says, "gamble gamble", holds the three to a royal, and hits draw-

Spoiler:
Flush.

Spoiler:
Blank.

Spoiler:
Royal. In hearts. Third line, again, JUST like his initial hit!

We burst out laughing. They way the whole thing panned out was just ridiculous. Honestly I was so happy for my friend I'd rather he hit that than me. People were coming up from machines all over to see what happened, we were laughing and hi fiving so loudly. Right at that point, my friend's wife comes over and we get to tell her what happened, then they unlock and pay. My friend is up 8k, by far his biggest score and they've only been in town a few hours. We're headed to the pool. This is just bliss...

This is like the definition of "penny wise, pound foolish." Great, they'll save like, $2 not letting your friends get some free coffee and snacks (which they probably won't even save since, as you said, you can just get it for them).

And for that, they get the possibility of turning off your friend so much that he won't gamble at all in the casino and take his play somewhere else (they have no idea if he's a high roller or not, right?). Brilliant.

Yeah we thought so too. It's dumb bc it literally has no upside. When I said I could grab them stuff anyways the girl at the desk just gave a kind of sheepish smile that to me said, "that's true, and this is a dumb rule, and I wish I hadn't said what I just said".

There were a couple of other questionable customer service decisions which came up, I'll let 2+2 be the judge.

Not that awful to bring up the benefits your friends wouldn't have, but she probably should have just not mentioned the benefits they wouldn't have access to.

She was probably just on auto-pilot because she goes through the same routine and spiel of the VIP benefits with almost everyone that goes through her line has access to.

Great TR btw, and I understand and have experienced the sentiment of wanting your friend to win more than yourself, after having invited them into a degenerate area.

I had a similar experience with a front desk agent at the Bellagio last week as Leon had with Wynn.

The A/C broke in our suite so the last night of our stay we were upgraded to a penthouse suite in the south corner over the fountains. as I’m moving my luggage I see a bank of elevators exclusive to the suite levels (29-36). On our way to/from dinner we take the those down and back to our room. My fiancé calls down to ask why we weren’t informed about the elevators as she has a broken foot at the moment and is in a walking boot and the front desk was aware of this when we were moved.

The front desk agent she spoke with told her that those elevators were for people who had paid for a VIP experience. My fiancé said we were VIP guest who had booked via VIP services/slot host. The front desk says that even so if we didn’t pay for the VIP experience you don’t get to use the chairman’s lounge and the elevators (chairman’s lounge has food/drinks like
Wynn vip lounge).

My fiancé says OK well can we pay for that now and add it on so we can check out via the lounge? Front desk says No, but after having us hold for a couple minutes says we have permission to use the elevators. My fiancé says we don’t need permission to use something that already works and they left it at that.

It was a weird and awkward encounter. When I asked the host about it he said “oh, yea, next time tell me you want to go through Chairman’s lounge and I’ll
set it up” why didn’t he offer it this time though?

Just a weird and confusing experience all around.

Killer report Leon keep crushing it!

Full disclosure I did tell him something like that when he hit the first royal, something to the effect of "you're going to regret that" and "they always let you win the first time to hook you". His wife said the same thing.

Yeah we've know each other since 2006, he was a few years behind me in residency. I was one of the few San Diegans invited to their bachelor/bachelorette party in... Vegas obv. This was back in 2006 when all I had was my poker roll and they didn't have two cents to their name. I'd guess not many people can say they have a buddy they've bet both 10 and 1000$ blackjack with, as well as gambled in French Lick, Indiana LOL.

Sessions like these are why I keep playing- the highs ALMOST balance out the lows. They really show how the game isn't long run that bad- it's just the variance is ridiculous.

It was more the way it panned out. First they didn't want to check them in there (which I didn't even realize was an exclusive check in area, I figured it was open to all Tower suites guests). Then they did it as a "courtesy", but almost to rub salt in the wound they bring up the "no lounge access" thing.

It's obv not a big deal but if it were my call I'd tell them to not say anything, and if an unknown wanders into the VIP area THEN ask them politely if they have a VIP card, etc. I can't imagine they lose much over the year from the few randoms who enter, grab something and leave. Whatever.

So that’s the super confusing thing. She made it out as if your key card had to be specially programmed but ours wasn’t in any way. It also doesn’t seem like they can prevent your card from working remotely...

Our game plan is to just try them whenever we stay in the suites there and be quiet about it. Will report results in the future

Sun con't

We take a break for the pool- I go with my friends to my room first so they can grab their stuff, then get them to their Parlor suite. They are overjoyed with the room and offer several times to let me and my wife stay there, which I refuse. I'm honestly happier sharing the love and letting them have the experience- I'm here to gamble and hang out with them anyways, so the room itself matters not to me.

We meet up with my wife and we kick it poolside for about 2 hrs which is actually long for me. The weather was great, not too hot in the pool at all and even a little chilly when you first get out. Afterwards, we resume gambling and we have dinner at Costa di Mare.

I hit blackjack with my friend. I buy in for 2k and intend on betting black as my base unit. I figure this'll give me 20 units and a decent amount of play unless things are ice cold. He's betting 25-50 as his base unit. I literally had to review the strategy cards several times prior to coming out this trip, it's been that long since I've played. We find a 3:2, H17 game which is the best we're going to do at the Wynn.

Things are pretty standard. Win a few, lose a few. Pretty much every time I had a big double down or split, I find a way to lose. Make blackjack on 100$ bets, never get them on 300 or 400$ ones. I know it's selective memory but I just don't understand what I ever found fun about this game. It's almost predictable. I'll give one sequence which illustrates ever session of blackjack I've had, ever.

Bet 100. Get dealt crap, somehow find a win.
Bet 150. Push 20.
Bet 150. Get dealt crap, somehow find a win.
Bet 200. Push 20.
Bet 200. Stand with crap against a stiff, in fact dealer has 10, hits small, small and BUSTS magically
Bet 250. Push 20 (WTF)
Bet 250. Win with 17.
Bet 300...

You see the pattern here. Never win with made hands. Somehow luckbox my way with garbage. Always made to sweat. Anyways, I built that up to 400 when I get dealt an 8...

Not a doubt in my mind. I call it- "I'm getting another 8, or a 2 or a 3 here. Period". My friend has no ability to contradict me.

There it is. Another 8. Of course.

Dealer shows a 10. Of course.

Split the 8s and hate myself. Wait for it... 3. Of course. Double face down.

Next card- I'm shocked it's not an 8, 2 or 3. It's 10. So I have 18 and XXX against a 10 and somehow have managed to turn a 400$ bet into 1200$. God I hate this game!!

Dealer turns... a 5! There's hope. Ace! UGHGHGHG OK there's even more hope... 3. So my 18 just got whacked out. Now let's see what my double hand turned into...

a 7. So an 18. So I lose to 19 by one in every spot. Of course.

I rage leave the game after that and go play more VP. I only lost a few hundred on that session but had zero desire to play after that.

Put the ticket in... and get the FIFTH dealt quads of the trip!

Spoiler:

I'm wondering when the trip where all of these are aces, 2, 3 or 4s is coming...

That hand not withstanding, the pre-dinner session was a nightmare. Literally made no other hands and I think I lost 6k. Head upstairs to get ready for dinner.

Love the staircase of this restaurant.

And.. CUE MEAL NUMBER 2 WITH NO PICS.

Again, apologies. Totally forgot. We got a round of pastas, the grilled octopus and the carpaccio as appetizers and everything was excellent. For the main course, my wife and I split the whole pink snapper carved tableside. Honestly I barely remember the meal (I know it was good) bc we were so wrapped up in conversation. It seemed pretty soon that dessert was arriving- we ordered the bomboloni (small donuts) again. They were good, maybe a 7/10 but they changed the dipping sauces from last time. Before they had chocolate, caramel, vanilla and berry and it was just amazing, the dessert was 9/10 that time. This time there was mango? I think and some ice cream, it was good but I prefer the old way better.

After dinner- more blackjack, bc the ladies want to play. Fine.

You can pretty much cut and paste my earlier session here. Buy in for 2k and get my wife in for 500. She gets lots of blackjacks with a 25$ bet, I get none. Lose all the major decision points and I'm stuck another 1k. So unfun. I head off to VP for my nighttime session.

You have to see the complete lack of "win" pics on my phone to understand this and the previous session. I know I haven't been posting all the before and after pics and this day was a major reason why. If you filter out all the before and misses, I have LITERALLY TWO PICS to show from those sessions. Just ice cold, and I certainly don't fill like posting miss after miss after miss. I'm the most upset about this session of all my losses, ever. I just hemorrhaged money, kept playing 10 play, knew I should get up, kept getting draws, kept missing...

Oh yeah, so what was the second and final pic of the day? My SIXTH dealt quads of the trip! At some point, I rage found my way over to ultimate X. Told myself I'd give myself 1k and about 500 in I hit...

Spoiler:

That's nice and all, but WHERE T F are the aces???!!!

Of course that doesn't last long at UX at all, and I give that back and the original 1k in no time at all. I end up going to bed at 1am, far later than intended and of course super stuck and super pissed at myself. As amazing as the first 12 hrs of this trip have been, the second 12 have just been a nightmare...

Sunday result- -10k
Overall- +2k

Let's scale that down so us low rollers can actually understand what happened here. You are at $50/spin if I'm paying attention correctly, right? So us $5/spin players could equate that to being up $2300 at one point to up $200, right?

Think of how bad you have to run at $5/spin to polish off $2100. I mean, wow.

THAT is a long walk upstairs to the room that I'm not sure I could make. I'd be wandering around the strip talking to myself.
