She used to roll craps but got grief once from a crew for accidentally switching the dice between her hands and now not only won't even think about rolling again (I told her to just keep one hand behind her back at all times - pretty foolproof) but also won't engage with me if I'm playing for fear of jinxing the dice. And forget about poker - she's never lasted more than 5 minutes in a poker room. Long story short, we also used to go side by side to play TWD, so I feel your pain.

I guess try to find another themed slot and go with that. Chances are it won't be around the next time you're in town given how often they cycle through them, but it's better than not having time together.
Yeah TWD was fun enough we didn't even need to both be playing, I was content to just let her push buttons and I watched. We tried Game of Thrones on Day 4 (spoiler alert) but not nearly as fun.

Sorry for the tough to figure math, it actually makes more sense to me given I set that 10k aside but I can see how it's hard to follow. I can't remember if I locked up that first 5k strap day 2 or 3? If both big hits were day 3, then yes day 3 is +9k in reality.

Leon,

Not hard to follow at all, just wanted to confirm I was interpreting that correctly.

Edit: I’m really hoping that you succeed at what for me is the mythical idea of vaulting winnings early and never having to go back to the vault. But I’ve also never had a wife be the vault!

There's a chance I saw you folks doing the meet and greet while I was grinding freeroll hours in the poker room. I thought it was just 50's doo-wap given the Wanderers part of the name. If it's got stuff from the 60's and 70's I might have to give it a try.

How loud was it? My ears are damaged by too much Led Zep and shotgunning at an early age to take very much volume. Maybe if I sit in the back?

Loud, given it's live music but not intolerably so. There's not a bad seat in the house from what I can see. I'd imagine you'd be fine- there are breaks throughout the show where they tell their story, show a bunch of pics, etc.

It's 2500 tier credits, which is halfway to Diamond if done in one day (or all the way to Diamond if during a 2x promo).

Maybe the low-variance way we've been doing it taking 10 hours on the Rio BP machines or 1.5 hours on the DSTP PHo machines is the sucker way. As long as we're pushing 25 grand through the damn machines, better to get paid if we hit!

P.S. Leon, supposedly Caesars has a 99.58% TDB at $50 and $100 units.

Pssshhh, I could just play 5$ credit, 10 lines for the same effect at the Wynn. With my non-existent 100k bankroll.

I dont think it works that way, you get points after every spin basically. Thats why the majority of people wanting to reach diamond status will grind VP non-stop.

Except that if you hit on one line you get a piddly 20 grand instead of 200 g's.

Not true. We stop at 2500 points, because that maximizes the daily bonus. The people that keep playing aren't doing it for points.

I've played that game on that machine before. Let's just say I played about 400 hands of $250 a pull without hitting 4 of a kind.... and 3 of a kind pays 2.

Yes I lost a lot

I bought in for 8k. And I was a bit tilted and this was probably past 100 pulls, I think maybe an extra 25 pulls. That machine is the only 9/6JOB and 8/5BP machine in all of Caesars properties that doesnt do 1 point per $25 coin in, which is why I started on it. If you want to hear an interview about it I did one with Poker News here:

Yes, but a royal cycle is still ~40k hands give or take. Theoretically same coin in/more lines really smoothes out the variance. This discussion is moot anyways since I can barely handle 50$/deal coin in.

Actually, 5000 points will maximize your daily bonus. It's the same EV as doing two 2500 days, but if you have a finite number of days to achieve your goal, the 5000 point day may be your best bet.

Leon,

Does The Palms have any high dollar VP that you have seen? The reason I ask is because I Am a local that lives in th Summerlin South area about 2 miles from Red rock and then I’ve Played NL cash poker online from 2006-2009 and then I moved to Vegas in June of 2015 (about 3 years ago and now I play 2/5 NL @ Bellagio, Aria, Encore, and the Venetian where I’m a 13bb/hr over about 7000 hours of play. If you find the best % game at the Palms that they have then just me know the payback % with perfect play. I’m a local and I got a new coupon booklet from The Palms about 19 hours ago and with the amount of money you put through the machines it could be a coupon worth $5000-$20000 in extra cash back per million dollars in play that you put through the machines. Also, I actually have one coupon for the month of June, and one for July and one for August, and then they also gave one extra coupon that I believe has to be used by a certain date but I haven't checked the date yet, but if you want I could give the June, the July, the August, and the extra one to you and your dad and the 2 of you could use them as you can only use one coupon per month per member. Therefore, just do a little research on your end and let me know th best payback % game tha Palms has that you would play and and if it’s good deal for you and wothe extra time and energy then I can look closer at the fine print on the front and back of the coupons. If there’s a good game at the Palms for you then I’ll just give the coupons to you and your dad for for free as they would just go to waste on my end and get tossed as the only VP I play now is FPDW or 10 play PPDW 5¢ that has a 100.762% full play table and I can play that at a 100.75% clip after near perfect play with the smallest of an error maybe once per hour. Also, please let me know if The Palms still has the quarter FPDW bank of 4-128 machines that they had in 2001 when I was last there on that one VP free site. I show at the VP free site that they had a bank of 25¢ FPDW still there around 2-3 years ago. I thought they still had the 4-8 bank of .25¢ FPDW as of 2-3 years ago when but the the last time I checked the VP free site was 2-3 years ago.

Quick little pre-breakfast session, head upstairs up 1k for the day.

Typical "forget to take breakfast pics"; after, my wife would like to take advantage of the last full day in Vegas to hit the pool again. I head back down to the machines.

Result-
Spoiler:

Starting to bleed. Head to triple play.

Then THREE minutes after that!!!

Christ. As well as I ran during early parts of the trip, this was just an ice cold section. I hit nothing that entire late morning period. Flurry of draws and ALL of them missed. I think I dumped 4k that AM, so now I'm stuck 3k for the day and 5k overall.

We head back to The Orleans. The movie isn't until about 2pm but I've taken all the beating I can for a bit and the kids are done with the pool. We decide to bowl again, then if there's time grab a quick bite before the movie. We end up getting in two games and it was a good time again, I think I bowled a 140 and ~ 130 so slightly below average. Definitely off on this day, I think I had a bunch of spares but literally ZERO strikes across 20 frames. It didn't matter what I did, I'd get the ball right to the pocket but there seemed to always be one left standing. I changed balls, went heavy etc but none of it made a difference. I wish I could have saved my spare-making ability that game for a time when it mattered! I had a ton of "9-spare" frames.

Anyways, no time for lunch. We decide to hit the movie and just eat snacks during. Obv nothing worth taking pics of.

I thought the movie was awesome. I know they're closing out the Avengers installments so of course there was going to be an overt "epicness" to the movie, but it was highly entertaining. Honestly a bit sad too seeing all those characters die, presumably never to be seen again. Can't wait for the next one. The kids liked the reclining seats, obv.

We head on back to the Wynn- evening plans are dinner at Costa di Mare, one last night of play (including craps, gotta get my wife to play for old times' sake), then we leave around 10 am day 5.

To be continued...

A pleasure to read, as always, Leon.

One question:

On that 2-2-2-6-6 draw, is it really better to drop the 6's and forego $225 in exchange for $50 and a decent chance at $400 and a very slight chance at $2,000?

Does Wizard of Odds say it is close, at least?
