Planning on my first long trip to Vegas, for this WSOP, if the germs don't scare me, any suggestions on an affordable, not gonna get my nice car stolen, room broke into, propositioned too aggressively, etc, MOTEL drive up type room.

Suggestions and decent semi organic food (trying to heat semi healthy) for a cutting down the meat diet -- nearby also appreciated.

Sounds like you can't afford a long term stay if motels is the goal. There isnt a safe motel near the wsop where you wont have to wonder if you car is still there. Sounds like you don't know much about vegas.....

If germs are even a remote concern, a Motel should not be on your list of choices.

AirBnB

edit: Also, you're going to be in the Rio at the WSOP 12-20 hours a day. Better chance your car will be stolen then.

I don't remember hearing about many cars being stolen from the Rio or any other large casino parking lots in Las Vegas (and I even lived a few blocks from the Rio for awhile). Seems much less likely to happen at the Rio in the daytime than from a motel at night.

qq: I went to Vegas last month and now got an offer from MGM where I can stay for free at most of their properties (including Aria). I have to book by 9/30, but can book for basically through the next year. My question is, how common are these offers? Like if I don't book, can I expect to get the same offer a few months from now?

Depends on your play.

You can get a room anytime they dont think they can hold out and on expectation put someone more valuable (cash or comp) in the room.

Would wager that even your offer would be magically "sold out" or "fully redeemed" on some nights going forward if your play is marginal and they are anticipating high occupancy.

This isn't strictly true, some places honor offers first come first serve (and then they reserve blocks for offers, so you can get sold out offer + not sold out hotel anyway), but that's less profitable than giving offers as an approximation and still yielding those rooms.

So depends on your play and their internal forecasts of occupancy trends, etc, which tend to be very reasonable.

This is good info... while I gambled some at MGM properties, I didnt think I gambled that much, so I was kinda surprised to get an offer to stay at Aria, Bellagio, etc. If I book something, Ill keep it mind it could be "sold out" or something.

I've been receiving a similar offer on a rolling basis for at least the past year. At the end of each period the expiry changes to the end of the next quarter.

I'm curious, how much did you play on average to get that offer?

Same question, about how many hours did you play per day to get that offer? Did you play mostly poker or also table games?

Didn’t play any poker. Bet $120 total in future bets in NFL and College basketball. Played one of those $5 min bet Craps machine for maybe half hour or so. And a little bit of slots.

$0, I suspect COVID was the trigger for this generous offer.

Yea I wonder if you guys think you could still get these comps now with the wsop coming up? I was thinking of going and if I could get such a deal, I would definitely check it out!

Hey all,

Tried the search function but couldn't locate the answer to my question. Does anyone have knowledge of where all of the mixed games (with limits) on the strip are being played?

I don't expect there to be many, and want to stay close to where I play. Will be in town on an upcoming weekend during the WSOP, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I simply prefer the simplicity of entry in a motel vs a hotel. Money is not the issue

Is the rio really that bad? I was thinking of that as an alternative.

I'll try that place south of the rio with all the mixed games. Only been to Las Vegas once, happy to be finally trying the wsop.

I guess it depends on your price range. Do you need a motel instead of a hotel or do you just want to avoid a hotel tower at a casino resort. Maybe something like the Extended Stay America Valley View (within walking distance of the Rio) might fit what you are looking for, since a kitchen will allow you to prepare your own food and eat healthier.

I wonder if I should unsticky this thread so that maybe instead of starting a new thread people will try asking here first. I imagine a lot of people that aren't regs and/or subscribed to it just skip over it with the rest of the stickies. Thoughts? I guess it would need to be bumped occasionally if it drops too far, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

While the idea of this sticky thread is nice, it's a wasteland where questions go to die. I think having individual threads for individual questions in a smaller trafficked forum such as this wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not privy to the behind the scenes.

I do know that in this thread I'm not going to get any answers to the question I asked.

I have gotten answers in this thread, but this is a tough call. I personally don't want multiple similar topics on the 1st page, but am also guilty of missing this thread simply because I scroll past the sticky threads.

I would suggest removing some stickied threads, but don't have a good suggestion on how to trim them.
