In the casino yes, but not in restaurants, poker rooms, shopping areas etc

So let's modify the question a bit. Any rooms I can get to without walking through clouds of smoke in the casino? I'm actually a bit allergic, so I really try to avoid smoke if possible.

The Wynn via parking garage, and the Venetian via the side door.

I was only driving like 30 minutes today and have already seen 3 accidents while driving to Henderson and back.

Your clothes and lungs will be drenched in smoke if you play at a 'non-smoking poker rooms' like MGM where the smoking area is demarced by an invisible wall 2' away from the table. I'd say the 2 rooms Pig4bill mentioned are your best bets to minimize the exposure.

I have the same problem. Caesers' room is easy to get to without much smoke and is an enclosed room. The Vention is very close to the front door, so you can get to it with any smoke. Both of these are modern casinos with good ventilation you can go anywhere in them and not suffer from smoke, provided you don't sit beside a smoker. You can get to Harrahs' room by the door to the left of the Carnival court "noise pit" but you have to make it past that pit. If you stick to the walkway and keep your distance from the slots you can get to most rooms. Wynn and T.I. are rooms you can get to without suffering and both are enclosed rooms.

Tip: When you make reservations tell them about your allergies and ask for hypoallergenic bedding (sheets, pillows etc.).

I like staying in the dirt cheap Capri rooms of the IP, because this the motelsection and has a exterior door, so you can avoid walking through the smokey casino. However, last time I stayed at PH and asked for the hypoallergenic bedding, best sleep I've had anywhere.

BTW there is a Walgreens adjacent to Plazzo for all your allergy meds and snacks needs.

I rarely have problems with smoke. Just an occasional cigar smoker in the sportsbook.

You guys rock. This is exactly the sort of thing I was concerned about. Looks like the Venetian just went way up my list. I wish I'd known then about the poker rate for rooms, or I'd have stayed there to.

If you smoke where other people can breathe or smell it, you're still a jerk even if the property owner or the law allows smoking.

Aria's not bad either, poker room's right near one of the doors.

Avoid Caesars, since all the smokers congregate right outside the poker room in the sportsbook. Ditto for Bellagio.

Wynn seems to get a lot of residual smoke coming in from the rail. I've noticed it more there than other places. Might be because it's in a hallway so the smoke can only go one direction.

Or just wear a surgical mask. People might think you're Michael Jackson.

Solid post. Move to Vegas recently, try to become a "local", complain about the crappy local economy, and then tell out-of-towners they're better off not coming to boost that crappy local economy. I'm not sure there could be more fail in one post.

I've never had a problem with smoke at Caesars from the sportsbook. Its a far enough distance away from the poker room and very far from where the tables are. Caesars is a modern construction with high ceilings and good ventilation. So there is no trouble avoiding smoke.

Well there's an empty threat. One you don't know who I am and two if you are smoking I won't be close enough for you to blow smoke in my face.

This will be my 4th time out in vegas... first time really going out to clubs (previous times were with all friends w/ girlfriends dragging them down)

Got a sweet deal $490 for airfare from philly, 3 nights at Aria, and show tix (obv forgot to order before deadline)

Chamillionaire performing at LAX saturday night... whats the scene like there? How about other clubs for Friday, Saturday, Sunday?
Looking to get bottle service one night, just two 24yr old guys... whats our best option for ~200$ each?

Whats the pool situation at Aria? Last time I went we went to the free pool at Rio. What's our best option for free pool?

Sushi... been asked a million times but best value for <50$ meal?

Golf... will need to rent clubs... best option?

Any other cool stuff going down this weekend?

Edit: Also successfulness of $20 trick at Aria?

Last edited by syph3n; 07-12-2011 at 05:29 PM. Reason: $20

edit: cliffnotes -
1) cool rooftop clubs for wednesday, august 10 (is ghost bar good?)
2) best club for thursday, august 11 (is tryst good?)
3) can we get hooked up with bottle service at all/how to do it/just call direct?
4) best place to play 5/10 since it's after the WSOP

Going to Vegas August 10-12 with 5 other people. Staying at the Wynn. we want to do bottle service on the 10th and 11th. Maybe one more loungey, one super clubby. Any suggestions? From personal experience I was going to suggest Ghost Bar at the Palms on the 10th (are there other rooftop clubs that are awesome), and then since we are at the Wynn, Tryst on the 11th. Never been to Tryst though. Of course if we're at the Wynn it makes sense to do Surrender Wednesday the 10th, and Tryst Thursday the 11th.

We'll probably go 2 bottle minimum.

As an aside, since it'll be after the WSOP, where are the best games going to be for poker? No more 5/10 uncapped games at the Rio, right?

We're also going to do the Exotics Racing ferrari experience and then dune buggies as well, and probably get a cabana somewhere if anyone has suggestions on that stuff.

i am very excited. anyone w/experience or knowledge please hit me up.

Thanks,

C

There are 3-4 main pools at Aria + Liquid the dayclub. Just scope the pools out as 1-2 are usually more family/kids atmosphere. Usually the one on the back-left as you exit Aria (closest to outdoor bar) is more adult/people drinking/etc. All of the main pools are free and open late. Liquid is also a good time if you want a party scene.

LAX is still fairly popular, albeit less so than XS/Marquee/Surrender. They play more hiphop/top 40 there, vs EDM at all of the major tier 1 clubs. You are going to be req'd at least 1 bottle minimum with 2 guys. So $400 + 20% + 8%~ tax + host tip if you want a decent table.

I would at least check out XS and Surrender if you've never been. Just get a few $ and "handshake" one of the hosts to skip the line and at least grab a drink to see the scene.

Using one as the other guy said $2 a minute. Working as one, you probably have to share with the casino.
