Also this. El Diesel is so rigid and goes into the classic fallacy of making up his mind of how he would like the actual game to play. What a good pokerplayer does however, is to go into a game totally open minded and simply adjust to what he is seing going on at the table. Be like water as Limon once said, you want to run effortlessly and fit in everywhere.

If you play with a bunch of callingstations like he said he does in does Cali games just adjust accordingly, but of course Diesel is not capable of doing that because he is obsessed with the game needs to play out like he wants it to. Play superior ranges aggressive and show them the best hand over and over and over again+ basically never bluff unless its huge draws with massive equity.

Live 1-2 and especially live 1-2 in vegas is the lowest form of poker in the world, and hes losing at that since 2018, none of his story makes sense or is compatible with the other decisions hes made in life.
180 man sit n gos were around in 2007. black friday was 2011.

Starting to think el diesel just has like no br, relatively speaking. I was never in the camp he had 100k+, but less than 20 would be my bet now.

One of his vlogs saying he won 2k in a week popped up on my feed, kindve nuts even at 1-2 that should be standard I’d think, some weeks you win 2k some weeks you lose 2k
I think he has said in the past his playing bankroll is $20K.

If he tried playing a $500 game, that's only 40 buyins. For a small time winner who plays every day, that's really not a lot. I could definitely see how a losing streak would not be good from a mental standpoint.

He's definitely screwed when the $5 rake rooms go up to $6 and inflation eats into even more of his meager profits.

20K for a 500 max buyin game is plenty enough, unless you are a massive bankrollnit (wich i guess Diesel is so yeah).

This is livepoker,40 buyins is heaps. Sure, should he go on a losing streak and dropping 5k or so,just go down to 200-300 max games again and rebuild.

I think that is a bit of speculation on your part.
What i think Nomad is saying is, he had 8/9 three figure loss sessions in his first 19/20 sessions in this trip to Cali.
Nomad is bemoaning this as 'high variance'.
I'm guessing Nomad is playing break even poker.

In the video he literally talks about a "crazy swingy day" where he started off up 200 and finished -14. This is peak Rice-- playing awful poker at 1/2, refusing to move up, refusing to improve his play, bemoaning a million other things.

I dunno I've never understood the concept of purposely registering at the last possible moment.
Bad players with short stacks will be shipping/calling light. If you can isolate them in a situation like all in, any suited Ace 8 or better vs. their 22-77, and double face cards, you're in a good spot. Aggressive fold or raise poker and a double up or two, you amass a competitive stack fairly quickly.

i think you are both right, he is playing breakeven poker, and since his vlogs make no money, and he does not have any lollipop or merch sales or any other form of income to supplement his breakeven stretches he is also bleeding money. i suspect if his next 6 months go the way his last 6 months have gone he will be getting a job as a poker dealer.

You forgot the “everyone should come kiss the ring (or my ass)” part of the rant.

Be water is excellent advice.
Live games all play so differently than each other especiallly at lower stakes and the person who adjusts the best makes the most. Guys who go in who just want to play the same cookie cutter strat at every table will always be good enough to win small and stay on the hamster wheel while never making real money. In other words good enough to have false hope.

I think you underestimate the burning desire he has to never actually work a job. He's just like the trooper only younger and even less successful.

Even if he had no money he might well choose to live in his car or even on the streets. That would be preferable to him than accepting defeat and applying for a poker dealing job. As long as he gets his free drinks every day from Caesars he will still feel like a big shot, even if he's broke and homeless!

Watching that old vlog of Trooper where he talks about being staked in 1/2 NL showed where Troopers head is at. He would rather make $12 an hour playing as a stake horse than be on the other side of the table making at least $20-$30 per hour dealing the game.

Making a conscious choice to live out of a car rather than work for “the man” is where Tim completely jumps the shark. It would be peak idiocy.

Less successful? Is that a thing?

Full-time dealers at Aria, Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian, etc make more than $30/hour. But they choose to struggle to avoid the man. We all make choices.

Trooper at least has his own place, a GF and various steady income streams. No matter how pathetic I think he is, I still have to admit that he is doing rings around our very special case El Diesel, by any objective measure.

There is literally nothing remotely interesting about him and yet his "fans" still love him and want to fund him. Maybe they just feel sorry for him or maybe they relate to him in some way. But whatever the case he has managed to use it to eek out a modest living.

Kudos to Jesse. He can easily get a much better poker player to be his partner in the tag team event but they entered as husband and wife.

Diesel is off the deep end in the latest video. Really shows how detached he is from reality.
  • Mega tilted about having multiple losing days of 100 BBs
  • Complaining that he 3 bets to $75 in a $300 cap game and gets 3 callers (?)
  • Bizarre strategic talk. Says that he needs to be more "balanced" and less "exploitative" against California players without fold buttons who play any two

The man is a pro poker player for a decade who's been dropped in the softest games possible and he can't figure out how to adjust and beat them, and is massively tilted and upset by losing a few buy-ins in swingy games.
