Numerous studies have shown that people on the right are far more likely to be willing to date or be friends with those on the left than the reverse.
I'm a man without a party, both major parties are an embarrassing joke, but for different reasons. So I can fit in with anyone.
If I'm with lefties, "ya! The R's suck! They say they are for smaller govt, but spend just as badly!"
If I'm with righties, "ya! Seriously, the libs have won ever major social issue for literally decades and they're still pissed as hell and claim they live under Nazi rule in a crappy country! WTF?!?"
But the fact remains, one side is far more likely to engage with the other.
If you can't find major flaws with your preferred party, you're young or stupid or both
