I won't go so far as to say his format is foolproof after just two episodes; but it works and, as I noted in my post about E2, it's easy to strike gold the first time, set expectations sky high, then disappoint. But he showed up with the goods on E2, and I'm thinking things will be as good or better going forward.
I'm also looking forward to the upcoming episodes as he's 2/2 so far on quality. I hope be enjoys making the videos because I know lots of people enjoy watching them!

Yeah, I find this approach really weird. You settle for something or someone who is clearly a bad choice just because the next option might maybe be a bad choice? Why lock in something bad for sure, 100%, when you have a 50-50 chance for a good choice next time? Heck, even a 10-90 shot at a good choice is worth the risk! Never lock in the bad option if there is even a remote chance at something better. Worst case you come back to the bad option (I'm sure Trooper will take her back in a heart beat if given the chance) or find another bad option and you're in the same spot you were when you started.

I think she'll do some soul searching during this trip and afterwards and we'll see what happens to the Trooper. I mean with a daily vlog, we're bound to see the results.

Let's break this down so I can find a solution to your challenge:

If I'm lucky I end up with maybe five or so vlog-worthy hands after an 8-hour session at the tables. And I still need to write the script, edit, create the graphics, record the voiceovers, etc. So if I want to avoid bum status and produce two episodes per day every day (14 episodes per week), then I'm going to really have to step it up. I'll need to play closer to 68-73 hours of poker per day, and given that would leave few hours in the day to handle the rest of the work, I'd need to hire a writer, an editor, a graphics guy, a voiceover actor - for starters.

On second thought, this sounds exhausting. I'll just DM Boski and ask him to rip it off.

I'm glad we had this chat.
Don't mind Reggie, he's clearly trolling and being sarcastic.

Yeah, maybe it's best he stayed in LV. Can you image that creepy face ruining Lady Trooper's vlog filled with delicious meals, roses, and crashing waves on the beach?

Then I remind myself of the concept, and slash the script down to the bare bones.

I'm also trying to make it somewhat more palatable for the average viewer - so you probably won't hear me mention terms like "blockers" too often - despite that I'm thinking about blockers at the table.

Maybe the vlog will evolve into something different down the road. Or I can record a separate hour-long director's cut for the serious cardheads.

In any event, thanks for watching.
Maybe you can have derivative versions of the original fast video. One would be a slower more technical one that covers all of the same hands from the original. And sometimes another video that makes deeper dives into just one or two of the hands from the original.

You can think of the fast one as the front end of a funnel that vets more advanced players into the more in-depth ones.

You could actually end up with a coaching/education business if that is what you choose....because the in-depth ones could lead to possible clients or students who could be interested in more even deeper dives. Maybe a compilation of in-depth videos can be a paid product down the road that comes with "new never released information" as bonuses.

I notice that many of the coaching sites that have Youtube videos have very small traffic. That's because they didn't create a funnel that starts with simplistic more entertaining type videos that bring in the highest possible number of people into their more technical ones.

Good observation. And that is the most head-scratching thing ... I could understand if he had a big tournament or meet up game and he couldn't go, but he literally stayed home and did nothing.

He could have rescheduled or worked out a better time to do a long weekend, but Trooper seems a bit tone deaf when it comes to women.

He could just as easily gone on the LA trip, rode his Boosted around in rush hour traffic, played 45 minutes of poker where he misremembers every hand - but at least he would have done it with his GF in a hotel overlooking the ocean.

As I have stated before I don't believe they are a couple and their relationship is platonic or a youtuber thing to be roommates I mean face it they really can't afford a nice living space on their income alone.

"Where is Tim when I need him?" - Lady Trooper's longing plea in the video. Proof that Trooper's Scarcity Strategy is working. She can't even wait to get back to Vegas despite what she calls "unbearable heat" and strictly enforced mask mandates.

Yes, she needed Trooper to be a human doggy bag so she didn't have to finish the food and eat too much.

Appreciate all of this. Hard at work on Episode 3 and at minimum I can promise the table footage will be sharper this time around. We'll see about the rest.

I like where your head's at with all of this.

If I was to launch anything educational, it would be for novices hoping to play sound poker. My brain works at a level far below that of a Bart Hanson or Doug Polk and the like, but I've done a solid job helping novices avoid rookie mistakes by following a few dozen key guidelines.

(Says the guy who just broke one of those guidelines at the table, and you'll see as much in an upcoming episode, but nobody's perfect, and I digress.)

As for separate deep dive videos, I'd definitely be into it. I've got pages of thoughts on these hands, but of course need to shave it down to almost nothing to fit with the conceit of the vlog.

In the YouTube comments of Episode One, someone asked me "Why jam river for the AK hand? What's calling you?" This was my reply:

--
A great question. One of the downsides of the rapid-fire format of the video is that I don't have time to dwell on my thought process. But happy to get into the weeds here and nerd out a little.

Short answer is: In the moment I was on the fence. And I should've checked.

Longer answer: This table had a weird dynamic all session. More limping than usual. More chasing than usual. And a whole lot of calling down light. I'd put this guy on a strong combo draw, but there was always a small chance he was getting sticky with AJ and in that case I'd hate to miss out on value. I'd just seen this same player lose a ton in pretty similar hand (AK vs. some ace). If he did have a lesser ace here, a shove here for value was the only sizing that really made sense given the SPR.

But you're absolutely right. And other players at my table told me they worried he was slowplaying AQ or a set. I didn't have the same worry given the board texture. I'd put him on a draw and I should've stuck with that read, and should've checked.
--

I could've bored this commenter to tears for another twelve paragraphs, but you get my point: I like your idea of a separate, more in-depth option for those who want more than just "the speed of his calls made it feel like a draw."

All right, back to the editing room. Thanks for whiteboarding with me.
