It's true that Trooper is living in the now and not preparing for the future. It's not like he is alone in that. That's a philosophical choice made by millions of Americans. They seem to get on ok. Trooper doesn't have a responsibility to take care of anyone other than himself. There's no point in him dying with money in his bank account.
LOL, I don't think anyone's worrying about that, including Trooper.
Until he gets more inheritance money from his mother passing, I don't think he'll have any sort of reserve in his bank account. Also, I'm not sure if there is another generation in the Trooper family so there won't be anyone to leave many sort of money to in theory, if any money did exist.
I can totally see Trooper being the kind of person who wouldn't leave anyone any money even if he did have some at passing. He seems so bitter and angry at everyone in the world.
