Thanks, while I appreciate your longer photo boards post, I think THIS idea will get me to go try it next time in town.

GREAT post

I think it used to be a hang out for lots of strippers and stuff as they were always open and they could come after work and have a drink and a meal.
lol, you have a romantic view of Las Vegas' past and "strippers and stuff".

However, the Peppermill has been a great place fo casual breakfasts for many years. I try and stop there a couple of times a year.

I do not classify steaks as "Fine Dining", but, for old school steaks, I'd go to the Golden Steer on Sahara, which literally was a great hangout for all sorts of characters.

I also generally avoid the Strip, in favor of downtown options in the Arts District for good, emerging, better dining options.

Some kind of tart she got.

Buoef. Served with the best steak sauce ever conceived by man. Even the little salad bites on the side were perfect.

I've only been here once before and I missed out on the legendary mashed potatoes. I was excited to try them but dreading it a little bit as they couldn't possibly live up to the hype.

We both started laughing when we tried them. Holy God. We both loved mashed potatoes as kids and would eat mountains of them at TG, so it was fun to experience the platonic form of them together.

Souffle and coffee.

Can't wait to try the main restaurant.
Good Lord! That could make my short list of potential last meals without ever having taken a bite of any of it.

Funny thing is they consist of exactly 4 ingredients. 1 pound of butter for every two pounds of potatoes plus a little milk and salt.

It's a pretty good value all around. Not the best steak in the world, but a really big ribeye was only $65 and it was tasty. We split the bill because I still had $150 in comps on the room. I charged $200 to make sure I got all the comps, but the charge didn't show up on my bill, so I saved $50 or so.
Missing out on Bazaar Meats makes me sad. However I’m guessing this is like 40% less and much more convenient when your already there and don’t have to head to the other side of the strip and go to The Sahara.

Peppermill is still great but the prices have gotten a little overhand. Still a fun place to go but yeah if I was a local I’m only going a few times a year.

How’s Main Street Provisions? Only real dining place I’ve been in the Arts District is Esther’s which is great but I need to branch out.

I had a great meal and questionable service experience at Main St Provisions. Think I wrote it up in here or casual. But the food is good.

It's funny - that five second interaction has probably cost them a few thousand dollars in business dinners from me over the last year or two, because I really enjoyed the food. It's probably a bit harsh on my part, but why chance it when I can book Raku or Esthers or even Echo and Rig or Hachi, which have been nothing but 100% crowd pleasers.

Date night at Smith & Wollensky. I wasn't impressed, but I could have opted for a better choice besides the Filet, potatoes, and asparagus. The asparagus was amazing, and the steak was just fine, just overcooked. I expected better here, but I would give them another shot for sure.

The service was great. When asked how my meal was, I said, "It was okay." The waiter asked, "Just okay? Not excellent?"

"It was fine."

When the waiter came back with the bill, he comped us cheesecake and chocolate cake. Both were a solid 9/10.

Food: 6.5/10
Service: 10/10
Bill: $212 + $50 tip

Um, alright.” As if she’s never taken negative feedback before. Then it was “glad everything tastes great” with no further acknowledgment. Obviously wasn’t going to let it sour dinner, which was excellent. Separately the waitress sounded like missy from big mouth and once I placed it it was like impossible not to hear it every single time.

I loved the fry bread but honestly I can eat pita/naan/thick tortillas with damn near anything, not the least of which is rilletes and pate w mustard and pickles

You guys keep yapping about Bavettes so I went.

Charged for bread. Man this annoys me. I think they should ask if you want it, or even charge a nominal amount to prevent waste. More than that, feels like a scam.

Apples and greens salad. Good. Some of the greens were of the more bitter variety. I don't mind, but avoid if you do.

Fried chicken and buttery mashed potatoes with gravy and peas. Pretty fricken good! The fried chicken is boneless and well seasoned. The gravy was suburb. If Joel Rubichon hadn't ruined me for mortal food, the potatoes might be GOAT.

I've been on a bit of a fried chicken quest. Makes me feel like garbage, but so good. On chicken alone I'd give the nod to Blue Ribbon in Aria.

Kinda weird cuz there was Blue Ribbon Sushi there before, which had justly celebrated fried chicken. Then Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, a chicken joint by ballys. Also good.

If we factor in the potatoes, I might go with Bavettes.

Lemon meringue pie. Best I've ever had. Can't imagine a better version existing. When I think about you, I touch myself.

Ate at the bar and the service was good, and I enjoyed the ambiance.

The mashed potato at Bavette’s is absurdly good. I’d notch them over the Robuchon mash I had but that could also be because I was so full by the time they came out. Either way the Bavette’s ones are 11/10 good

Smith and Wollensky and Gallagher's are both terrible, and should never be considered in a town with elite steak a few minutes walk away. Hell, the british pub next to S&W has better steak at half the price.

I know, this has probably been asked a few times already and probably by me as well. But things obviously change so… What’s the best steakhouse on the strip that’s worth going to? Cut, Bazaar meat, Carver? Funnily enough I have only been to Joe’s at Cesars and that one time I didn’t even eat stake so have no reference.

Literally a stones throw from the Strip, a stand-alone, non-casino, historic venue and worth checking out:

I posted this info above , but feel it bears repeating.

(I love steak, but generally do not consider it "fine dining".)

I'm flying in M-F next week. It's a solo trip this time -- any good/great fine dining that is cool to go to solo? I know most steakhouses I can eat at the bar, so that's always an option. But putting this out there if there are any other options. Thanks as always -- love this thread

L'atelier is more or less just a big bar. Should be NP eating alone.
