Peter Luger coming to Caesars. It will occupy the former Rao's space.

Don’t get it honestly. Charm is that it’s a stalwart that takes cash only

Can’t really recreate that on the strip imo. See it coming off as kitsch on the strip where I’m paying like 80 bucks for a steak before tax + tip

It will probably be successful but much like Raos it will certainly be lacking the personality of the original (although many have reported problems with the service in New York).

Yeah, I agree with both of the above. I also think it's an odd choice with Old Homestead remaining.

"Problems with the service" are part of the "personality of the original". Apparently the unfriendly wait staff is part of the experience and something they invented.

I assume they're going to target the same audience as Old Homestead which is also the core demographic of hotel guests at Caesar's Palace plus business dinners. I agree that it's kinda odd two have those two restaurants in the same hotel though. I wonder how long that will last.

I heard that old homestead is closing and they are trying to get bazaar meat in that space. Old homestead is definitely out I just don’t know the timeline.

I've eaten at Old Homestead twice. Once was really good and once was a less than mediocre steak and horrible service, so I'm not sure I care about the difference between OH and PL. I would gladly take the swap if it means Bazaar Meat is coming in.

Burger is one of the absolute best in vegas. Everything else at old homestead is hard pass. I do like that they deliver to the cigar lounge next door, but obv bazaar meat would be a massive upgrade

We used our seven star dinner last night at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. First of all it is totally a tourist trap, I mean a bottle of caymus was $490 dollars! But tourist trap or not, we had an amazing dinner. The service was top notch, view and atmosphere were great, every dish was good to great (we ordered enough for four people). Standouts were the beef tartare, filet with foie gras and truffled wine sauce, and the soufflés.

Eiffel Tower has been on my list for brunch ever since Javanewt posted it in a TR last year. Brunch seems like a much better value, but it's nice to hear the food is good. Hopefully I'll try it sometime soon.

We also put it on our future brunch list plans.

The food is definitely the least memorable thing about the Eiffel Tower restaurant. Haven’t been for brunch though.

Taking a Vegan friend out to a fancy dinner at the Wynn - I know there's lots of Vegan stuff there but what would you consider the best Vegan meal?

If you can get in: Esther’s, La Strega, Al Solito Posto, Ferraro’s for Italian. That’s least to most formal

Piero’s for Italian.

Going to Vegas in March and want to look into some other Sushi places that are in between Kabuto/Yui and the ACYE. I've been to Kabuto twice.

Is there anything that is in the middle ground? Omekase at Kabuto/Yui is about $120 for the smaller version. I would like to pay a bit less and get a bit more. But not $25 ACYE.

Let me know what fits into that category, if anything. (I don't think this is a casual dining question, but if it is let me know).

Thanks!

Osteria fiorella blows away all the other off strip Italian places imo

I should give it another try. Didn’t knock my socks off. But I also eat Italian out pretty rarely and expensive Italian even more rarely.

Definitely should, my wife makes fantastic Italian food and it’s the only place that makes sauces and pasta that she can’t replicate, plus the ricotta pie is one of the best desserts in town for people that don’t like overly sweet desserts

That does seem good except it's quite a haul from the Strip where I'll be staying. But thanks for the recommendation.

What are the current best options for tasting menus, with a place that will substitute the fish dishes? I'm taking some people out to Vegas and want to treat them right. A strong preference to not requiring formal wear, but if it's the best we can ship it.

LeCirque or Picasso at Bellagio are great, as is Joel Robuchon at MGM - none of these places require you to dress up anymore. Slacks or jeans without rips are fine along with a button down shirt.

Looking for a steakhouse with an old-school steakhouse vibe to it. Bit of a steakhouse noob. Only been to a handful of steakhouses, and one was Black Angus and other was a horrible experience at a steakhouse at one of our local Indian casinos. Other two (one in Carlsbad and other at a different Indian casino) were really good. I'd say those two were in the $40-60 range per steak.

I'm fine with a place where the steaks are in the $60-80ish range, as long as I'm really getting what I'm paying for in terms of quality. Not well versed on wet aged vs dry aged etc.

I've narrowed it down to:

Vic and Anthony's

Barry's Downtown Prime

Bavette's

Golden Street

Oscar's

Would like to hear anyone's opinions on these and any others I may have overlooked that fit my criteria.

Thanks in advance.
