We are going to do à la carte at Sparrow + Wolf (although I was torn with your recommendation of Partage) because we like to share, too, and the tasting menu includes items my husband won't eat/like. (Also, à la carte seems like a better deal.)

Check the corkage fee at Le Bernardin -- might be worth it just to bring your own. We are taking two bottles to S+P for $50 total corkage, which is a steal if you like good wine. We can rarely have enough wine with dinner I love having a sip after each bite. I just hope we take the right wines. Thinking of a sake for the beginning dishes and a Bordeaux for the latter. Now off to see if there is a wine thread!

Look forward to reading about it. When will you be in Vegas?

As to Randall's question: is there anything at S+P we shouldn't miss?

Oddly enough, my GF loves tasting menus because she doesn't have to decide, but isn't suggesting it here. My only worry, besides wanting to order everything on the menu, is that we might miss out on something that we wouldn't normally order.

I was referring to your post about a restaurant you haven't been to and doing the tasting first. Not this particular restaurant. Sorry if it read that way. And sorry if it wasn't you who said that!

I also like to sip while I eat. I have a friend who is a sommelier and she said that the bottles were nice, but the wines by the glass were not very unique. At this place I am more than fine with someone telling me what I should drink.

If this is for me... I have no idea. I'm fully booked in March and am going to Mexico for the eclipse in April. Still booking a summer trip. I want to say May as my Cosmo offers currently run out then, but it may be a working long weekend. I know I still owe mark some sliders.

Also, my boss resigned today. So this is going to be a fun few months.

Sorry as I didn't want to hijack this thread. Please carry on and post pics.

Went to Guy Savoy.

To kinda address the question above, I think Picasso is the best for value/experience (tough to beat sitting by the fountains), Rubicon has the best food.

Guy has the best service and the just go nuclear on giving you extras and perks. The bread and butter is great, with delicious butter imported from France and like 12 different breads to choose from. It's hard to not fill up.

I got chestnut all the way. This is an ongoing thing, with the ingredient rotating by season.

One was a delicious soup. One was kind of a pastry.

Got a plate full o' birds. I think the official name is different. It was kind of an ugly plate, but it tastes really good.

My waiter told me it was better with truffles and offered to load me up for free. He was right.

Had this pastry for dessert. It was a beautiful dish, perfectly prepared. I would warn that, while very tasty, it is not a very sweet dessert.

I still got sweets though, because after that they wheeled over the huge dessert cart. I could have anything I wanted, but was pretty stuffed, so I just had a few small things

There was the mini burger and some kind of soup... I guess I was there about 2.5 hours. I talked a lot with the staff, who were bright, interesting people who were really into their field. They told me about the chef, dishes in other seasons, etc.

When you leave you get this really good muffin like treat to take home. It was their Friday, so they had extras and let me have as many as I wanted.

I'd pay $25 just to go hang out there for a while and eat the bread and butter.

Guy Savoy has a knack for not caring about how the plate looks. It's maybe my only complaint about the place.

I agree about the staff. They make for a great experience.

Been to Le Bernadin twice, once very young when it was the first time I realized that Vegas steakhouses were not the best restaurants in the world (still great), and last time just before Covid. It’s one of those places that might not blow you away in one area, but the cumulative of perfect cooking, attentive service, intimate atmosphere make for one of the best dining experiences you can have. I’m a sucker for old school perfection of more basic dishes than the abstract oh it looks like an egg but it tastes like a carrot bs you get at e or alinea or minibar.

I feel like we're not talking about the same restaurant.

I probably didn’t phrase that well, obviously anything fish is fantastic, I would say in the realm of Michelin star dining, how great the restaurant is understated compared to others. Both times I’ve been there are in my top ten meals I’ve ever experienced so I love it.

Does anyone know if Prime @ Bellagio do fountainside/patio seating for a big group (EG: 9 people).

The masses in my bachelor party group have voted for Prime over anything else, even though outdoor seating is not promised.

And I am guessing walk-ins are impossible even for a smaller group (EG: 4 people at 9:30 on a Monday night)?

Best food i've had in a while (although: expensive) was at Zuma (Cosmopolitan, 3rd floor). Think Nobu, but better.

Everything was top notch (taste, service, ambience), but the one dish that was actually out of this world: Kobe sashimi (marinated) on a sushi-like rice thing with truffels on top.

Sorry to bring this up again, but has anyone done the tasting menu at Sparrow + Wolf with the wine pairings? Looks as if they give you pairings with almost every dish, but is it a glass of wine or just a sip? I'm waffling between a la carte and our own wine or the tasting menu w/ wine pairing. Really trying to figure out what's best for us, but we are big time winos so want to make sure we are happy

I've only gotten a wine pairing a few times, but it's always been a moderate amount. I'd guess, especially being off the strip with many customers driving, they aren't going to serve you like 6 full pours. Hard to imagine a restaurant where they are deliberately putting many customers over the legal limit, when they order a standard meal.

Come on in to Pedro's for our happy hour deal: an enchilada plate, chips and salsa and 5 margaritas!

I’ve had some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted and best pairing with food through wine pairings at high end restaurants. The best somms really do an incredible job. Get the wine pairing is my advice.

If your big winos I’d go with the pairings. You’re likely to experience wines that you normally don’t drink and it might open your eyes to something new. I’m also sure they’ll do a good job of pairing wines that complement the food really well.

I don’t think I’d want to get drunk. I want to be in a state where I can still taste and enjoy the food and different wines.

Appreciate your sarcasm, but I'm not talking about getting drunk (it would take more than one bottle by myself, anyway) or "full pours," but I want more than one sip of wine with each dish.

We did the wine paring at Picasso and the pours were generous, but our guest was a friend of the wine distributor and they took very good care of us. I've also had wine pairings where it was a sip or two small sips, and you can barely get a taste for the wine let alone appreciate it with the food when that's the case.

The wines do look interesting, though, and I trust a professional's choices over mine, so we'll probably go that route.

And BTW, they don't give a **** if you are driving or not (we won't be). I've never had a restaurant stop us from ordering a second or third bottle of wine (for two) or had anyone stop me from my second or third round of "two for one" margaritas. LOL. They only cut you off you when you are visibly drunk, and sometimes not even then.

Yeah, if you take it upon yourself to get shnockered the restaurant will assume you're not driving. If you drive, it's on you.

I'm saying they aren't going to have a standardized meal that puts you over the legal limit. At least, that is my assumption. Could be wrong. But I think it would be very irresponsible.

The legal limit is pretty low. 3 drinks in an hour will do it for smaller people.

I can't speak to sparrow + wolf, but places normally portion for the meal courses or length of the meal. Obviously there are exceptions... I posted my obnoxious champagne pour at l'atelier last June and places like é with 15+ courses and people that bring/share their own wine can be too much, but the latter is for a shared seating.

Personally, I'd be surprised if it was more than half a glass. I want to say a third, but it depends on the courses and length of the meal.

I'm actually too embarrassed to post this in the golf forum as everyone seems to think the course is easy, but I'll be hacking up the Vidanta course. Probably no fine dining pics.
