Not sure if it fits fine dining thread as I’ve never been. Anyway, has anyone been to Tom Colicchio's Heritage Steak inside Mirage? Pros/cons? I’m looking at places inside the Mirage as I’ll have $600 to blow and it seems like a decent option.

^do a trip report and let us know... I've never been.

--------------------------------------------------------

I am going to Vic's at the smith center this weekend for opening night of the Jazz season and Diner.

No Dining, but I was at The Smith Center last weekend to See Kodo, the Japanese Taiko Drum Group... pure awesomeness.

If it’s free go for it. But I’ve read enough reviews that there are 25 better steakhouses in the city. I never liked craft steak by Colicchio even when a lot of people did 15 years ago.

Yeah I’m Platinum at Mlife and Hard Rock does status match that gets you $600 food comps. So I pretty much have to spend it somewhere.

Get the 48oz Tomahawk. How bad can a $240 steak be really when you're getting it for free? Looking at the menu the short rib entree sounds delicious.

Take the freeplay instead imo.

I did it a while back from MGM gold and i believe i had the option of 150 food credit or 100 freeplay and this was just from gold.

I went to Edo Gastro Tapas in Chinatown/Spring Mountain. I did so as I saw there chef is up for a James Beard award and they have an interesting tasting menu for only $80. With places like Sparrow and Wolf, Partage, Edo and others don’t see the point of doing over priced strip options.

Really great meal, would do again.

Just watermelon gazpacho. Just something the chef brought out before the meal. It was nice and refreshing, cool presentation but nothing spectacular.

Nit have you been to Jamon y jamon? My wife and I did edo last year and the dishes were either fantastic or rather lousy where we thought jamon y jamon was far more consistent and we have been back there five or six times.

No but I’ll need to put it on my short list. Edo I would say for a quick search is maybe little more innovative and more “fine” dining while Jamon looks like really well executed traditional tapas dishes. Main reason we did Edo was the tasting menu. If it was just me and my wife would’ve done Sparrow and Wolf or maybe Partage.

If anyone has any off strip places with a good tasting menu let me know.

And for $80, which I’m sorry isn’t much when people are getting close to $50 for a burger and fries on the strip.

For $80, very excellent. Did you do either of the supplemental? I didn't see the scallop upgrade, but looks like you did the caviar?

This is on my list the next time I'm in Vegas.

Done Edo in the past and it was fantastic. Will have to give Jamon a try in May.

thank you Nit for posting your EDO trip report, it played a big part in spouse and i ending up there this past friday night. we both ordered the tasting menu as well and many of the dishes are similar to what you had, but i'm going to post all the pics for comparative purposes.

absolutely love the strip mall ambiance (i'm serious)

no test tubes and no pic, but the amuse bouche was a miniature pitcher of tomato gazpacho as a palette cleanser.

the hamachi tartar with bowfin caviar

paella honeycomb

the order of the next two were flipped from the menu

beef tartare with trout roe and a white asparagus veil, served with house made chips

tigreton (a parfait of mussel sofrito, french fries espuma, cornnuts) - so bizarrely phenominal

tarte flambee with iberico, manchego, caramelized onion, jalapeno oil

basque eggplant tallo with wagyu pastrami and parmesan sauce (there were two on the plate)

supplemental Massachusetts U10 scallop with hedgehog mushrooms, mussel sauce, aji amarillo, truffle-coconut beurre blanc and roasted veg. i could eat ten plates of this and call it a day. these are two pics of the same plate

beef three ways
dry aged ny steak, andalusian sweetbreads, and braised wagyu cheeks wrapped in roasted potato to resemble a bone with marrow.

dessert was strawberry granita with a popcorn mousse and popcorn dust. wonderful.

we each had two gin drinks, not pictured was the monkey 47, this one they call the grey whale.

i would order any food on their menu without hesitation...highly recommend at that price point.
