Lumiere Place since it is right off the highway. Not sure exactly where the Hollywood and any others are, so just a 3-4 hour stop in there is what I'll do.

Thanks man! Yeah taking I-70 from Ohio. Was planning on taking I-44 to I-40, but seeing that 44 is a turnpike, and I despise those, so might just continue on out I-70. Don't know about driving through the Rockies during winter, though. Just gotta play it by ear I guess!

Making it even better now is I'm going to most likely end up meeting my friend from Colorado, who was going to meet me in Vegas. So I can chill out at her place a few days and we'll just drive the rest of the way that Sunday. That will make the drive through the Rockies a lot cooler. Did it three years ago, but was alone both times. Will be sweet to venture through there with a travel buddy!

I did see that, but I will be through there the night of the 17th, and it starts the 19th. It would be cool to play an event on the way out, but I'll just make it a 3-4 hour cash session pit stop. Then find a hotel somewhere in Missouri the first night since they tend to be cheaper. I can drive the rest of the way to Colorado and spending a few days there will be good since I won't have to feel like I do the complete drive at once.

Just one more thought that I'm interested in seeing what folks think about it.

Been thinking of something like a pressing strategy that could make $4k-$5k in a couple of weeks, as opposed to trying to grind out $2k-$3k a month sticking to $1-$2/$1-$3. This of course will require that great combination of play good/run good to make that much.

Step 1: $300 buy-in @ $1-$2
Step 2: $300 buy-in @ $1-$3
Step 3: $500 buy-in @ $1-$3
Step 4: $750 buy-in @ $2-$5
Step 5: $1,000 buy-in @ $2-$5

I thought about having a step with a $500 buy-in @ $2-$5, but I much prefer playing deep as I have mentioned, so I limited the 100 bb buy-in to $1-$3, since it doesn't play much different from $1-$2. If I step up to $2-$5, I want some ammo!

Now if I bust two barrels that I'm intending to fire at the $250 DSE event, then I lose 3-4 straight $1-$2 sessions when I get out there and am stuck $2k after a week, obviously I'm not going to do this. But I figure doing it right away is best, since I'm trying to start off the move as best I can.

The guidelines I would follow:

*Win at least 200 big blinds at the step before advancing ($400 @ $1-$2, $600 @ $1-$3, etc).
*Lose a session on steps 2 or 3, retry same step again. Lose following session, start over at step 1.
*Lose a session on steps 4 or 5, move back one step. Lose following session, start over at step 1.

I think this could be a way to keep the overall grind fun for a while, and as long as I am stringing together winning sessions, I can maximize my profits. Obviously if I take a 4 or 5 session downswing, I'd make myself win a few in a row at $1-$2 before trying this strategy again.

Obviously I'm pretty confined to $1-$2 and $1-$3 for the most part, but I feel like I can still take shots at $2-$5 and if I stuck to this, I'd ensure I'm playing with recent profits only.

Thoughts?

every post of yours i read makes me think there is less and less of a chance for you to succeed. less plans, just play it by ear. game select, if you see a good game play it.

Succeeding isn't easy to begin with, but what is 'succeeding' in this case? Never having to work again? Becoming a poker-made millionaire? Just covering living expenses and then some? Depends on what defines succeeding, in whether I will or not.

Sounds like you want to in essence roll your own little series of mini-tournaments with very slow increases, with a few rules about stepping down that aren't like a tournament. But I say a tournament because the essential idea is either you run your gauntlet to the 5k "prize" or you "bust out", which apparently means a losing session at Step 1, in which case you just start over.

I think of stuff like this too (although I'm more of a limit player), and more power to you, but all you're doing is exchanging some extra variance for a little bit of excitement. A few months you'll run it up to $5k and feel great. Other months you'll get stuck between say 3 and 4 and end up $400 winner for the month, and occasionally back at 1 stuck $200 for the month.

The alternative, playing $1-2 and $1-3 until you have several buy-ins to take an extended shot at $2-5, would be lower variance, although you could still have losing months. But it sounds like you're getting living expenses from other sources so OK, fine. Enjoy the variance.

And once again a friendly reminder: If you don't have a reasonable guess at your winrate, no bankroll advice is valid. None of it. It's all fantasy crap until you get a winrate.
