i think its been mentioned before but i would quite like a section where t.chan talks about nutrition and training. not too much as its a poker show but if we can spend a whole episode talking about places to eat in vegas then surely we can have a 10-15 minute segment, maybe even getting those nutritionists and trainers in. I think it could be argued that fitness is key to long tournament sessions. Hopefully i would not be the only one to find it useful.

The only bit i find a bit boring is the steve vee? bit. I understand its a sponsor bit but it seems to be the same things every week. He seems like a good guy but maybe it could be shortened or every other pokerkast. I like that you ask him relatively hard questions even though its a sponsor. It reminds me of the independent rounders days.

A few random thing to say
1) Devilfish - I think i might be in a minority but i quite liked him. I met him getting on a plane to vegas and he spent the hours boarding and the flight chatting to me and a friend about poker, fighting, girls and he also met up with us in vegas. He offered us the chance to meet jimmy white(snooker and english legend). He was a really nice guy and whilst most of his stories could not be repeated and to be honest i found some genuinely offensive, you could not argue with the charisma of the man. For example we were talking in the marquee room of 2007 wsop and bluff wanted to take a picture of him and two women. Very young girls and he was so creepy with them before and after the picture offering this and that. It was my first trip to vegas and i thought i guess its true what they say. i am a lot younger than him and i would of felt weird trying it on with them at their age.
2) Someone on the show said he would win without a hud. I work as a developer and i think online poker will really struggle for another boom whilst these programs exist. I think the line between being told what to do and a hud displaying ranges and distributions is pretty minimal. If a hud does not affect or colour your actions then why use it. I use it and at the very least if you get 4 bet shipped with a guy playing 1,1,1, with a 0% 4 bet you are going to adjust your calling range. I dont really see the difference between this and being told raise here, fold here. this is your correct distribution. In fact currently i would say the algorithm to produce the instructions would be inferior to a good player basing his action on a hud. Another amazing point made on the pokerkast was if you play chess you would not have deep blue beamed to your google glasses. With the huge amount of cheating and hand history swapping between relative greats (sbrugby, jungleman) what chance is there to stop the middle level players doing the same. The problem is that people will just stop playing and the pool will stagnate. Live poker will take over but its tough to make a genuine living profit live with the huge expenses. This will mean that only things like the wsop and ept with thrive as the casual player will save up for them and treat them like a yearly holiday or something. However this will be dangerous as when money problems occur it will be the first thing to go.
3)AI - i did a module at uni and i was quite interested in it but it does not really exist in any form at the moment. the poker bot has made me a little interested in it again. I would love if you could get the designers on to talk about decisions making algorithms and i am very interesting how they would code this and not be elite or at least very good poker players. i am also surprised that they did not try it in tiered approach vs different level of poker players. i doubt deep blue went straight for kasparov when trying to find out if it was the best chess machine ever.

Anyway, enough rambling. You dropping sound trailer park boys literally made my day. I may have to visit kells. ironically i do live in surrey.......england.

You have to get the guy who registered for the $125 tournament at Aria and ended up playing the 25k

link?

Wow, that is messed up. 85% Aria's fault, 15% for that guy. But if I was drinking in Vegas and playing a tourney, I probably wouldn't know the difference at first. Then again, no way I would be able to last 7 hours in a tourney while drinking.

Good afternoon Gentlemen. I've been listening to the show for a couple years now and really enjoy it. It eases the pain of commuting here in AZ. I'm just a recreational player but really love the game. I would consider myself a "feel" player and I would love to start learning some aspects of the "numbers" portion of the game.

Maybe you could do a short weekly segment in regards to the math of poker. I like numbers but I have never had anybody teach me how it all relates to poker. If you do decide to try this out, please start with the basics. It might be boring for some of the gurus who listen but it would be fun for as other guys. I think having everyone get a good grasp on the basic stuff first and then advance to the tougher stuff would make it easier for us to understand.

And it doesn't have to be just the math involved while you're at the table such as Pot Odds and such but could also be bankroll related math like ROI, etc. But please start out with the number 1 math concept that you find useful and then advance to the 2nd and so on.

As always, I look forward to the next podcast. Thanks again for all you guys do.

Anybody mentioned David Katai?
06-08-2015 , 05:45 PM
How about getting one of the wsop.com top winners like 'butters' or 'PaulDewald', etc.? Interesting to hear their stories.

Phil Hellmuth obviously.

Just won bracelet 14. I don't care about TChan and Adam's preference to not talk about tourney results.

Or Mike Leah to come on and talk about whether Hellmuth behaved ridiculously.

Freddie Deeb's son just a 10K PLHE bracelet.

I thought it was Shaun Deeb's grandma's grandson...

WSOP dealers
sorry to hear you dont tip a little extra for dealers oh well your choice.
Do you think the floor staff should take a cut of dealers tips ?
I think is the wsop should pay the floors more money and let the dealers have the tips, that would make them happy.Hope you guys have a good trip to vegas remember be kind to the dealers and good luck.

Any chance Phil Laak could make a reappearance on the show?

What abput getting The Trooper97 on the show to chat from a low limit grindiers perspective
06-16-2015 , 09:58 PM
Speaking of 'low limit Grinders'. I was gonna suggest "Reno Doc" or some other regular listener to talk about there 'up & downs' in local action and you mentioned on the last show you were to hook-up with him in Vegas. Maybe MJ can get him to talk of his WSOP schedule and/or what tournaments and games he plays here in Reno.

With WSOP setting new lows for performance this year - POY scoring, live reporting, dealer salaries, poor tourney structures, cheating scandal(s) - the list goes on and on, I think it would be great to have some sort of poker/business expert to explain the situation w Caesars financial solvency - and what might we see in the near future for them - particularly as regards the WSOP.

Can/will they sell it? are there buyers? Is Stars a possible suitor for the WSOP given their success with the EPT? or are there problems w the US government for that sort of deal? What about WSOP online poker? It has to be leaking money. How much longer can they keep it running?

Wow, I didn't hear anything about this. All I know about this year's WSOP is a couple live streams that I have watched. Does anyone know about a link to a story about these issues? I will look and see what I can find.

Have me on to discuss how a pokernews article ended up changing structures at the wsop.
