This Sunday, (Feb. 28/10) marks the return of our weekly tournament sponsored by The Pokerstars VIP Club. The revised format is as follows:

Time: 14:55 Registrations Opens: 11:55
Found Under: Tourney -> Private (on Stars obv.)
  • $1 + 0.10 buy in, $1 goes to the prize pool.
  • $1000 added to the prize pool by PS VIP Club (awesome!)
  • $50 clearable bonus (player must earn 350 VPPs to clear) paid to all players who make the final two tables (18 or 16 players, depending on game).
  • Payouts are significantly flatter than original incarnation, approximately 1 in 7 people getting paid.
  • Protected by a single password, given on the show.
  • Registration opens 3 hours before the event starts.

As per usual, DO NOT ask for the password (listen to the SHOW) -- it'll result in a prompt ban.

As of Friday afternoon I was unable to find any dodgy password sites giving away the password. Guess one dollar and ten cents is sufficient to weed out the deadbeats.

Thankfully it's an instrumental album! Henry Rollins NFTW! I'd say pre-Rollins black flag was better, but really it just sounds the same.

If the Russians can afford 1 FPP I think a $1 is not a problem. How will this deter the password stealers?

Two things.

1) The buy is now 70x higher at $1.10 compared to 1FPP which has an approximate value of 1.5c. It's a huge difference

2) It will prevent many of the freeroll password leaking sites from bothering to post the password anymore. Since the tourney isn't even close to being a freeroll any more, it's just a regular tourney that happens to be password protected, they'll hopefully drop us from their hit list.

they can steal the password all they want! but the big problem (from what i gather) was people with numerous accounts registering! blasting through one account trying to build a stack and if the get busted they would just go on one of their other accounts! they are not going to spend $1.10 on this same practice! at least the majority wont, and those that do should consider the buy-in a bigger investment (70x as mj said) and play properly!

heres hoping anyway!!

I haven't found the password on any freeroll password sites, also the added prize pool isn't all that obvious so it's less likely to be on the radar of those looking to steal our value.

As to my calculation number of participants will go down 30% at most. So after 2-3 weeks we will have ca. 2k people in. 1k $ added not a good value, wow gfn or other similar sites give 30$ or 50$ added and they have buncha people in. To me it seems like you want to do something but You don't know what.
p.s. good luck today against USA

we say thank you for the changes, there will be a playable competition possibly like this. GL

traded some FTP money just to play in this. Registered and ready to play! Probably will be asleep by the time the tourney starts. Think the gold medal game will keep entrants down?

I'd like to think so!

Why did you have 5 minute blinds? Wouldn't 10 minute blinds make more sense? For $1.10, blinds should be 10 minutes and maybe get more players to play? Something to think about.
harold.
