Pokercast Episode 34 - Ray Zee & Mason Malmuth Pokercast Episode 34 - Ray Zee & Mason Malmuth

The stories (and candor) from Ray Zee made this my all time favorite pokercast.

Suggestion: The next time you have him on, dedicate the entire segment to asking ONLY questions about old Vegas and the like. Just let the guy tell his stories and run as long as he wishes.

Thanks for the clarification, I understand what you mean now. I was confused by the way it was presented in the interview.

I think it would be a great thing if 2p2 stopped taking ads from affiliates that continue to promote UB and Absolute, but I understand that the costs of that may be too high to justify the statement that it would make.

Hey Mike & Adam -

Regarding your question about whether or not you can play multiple skins on the Cake network...you cannot. Back when I was a bonus whore (still a whore of sorts fwiw), I had multiple accounts on Cake and Sportsbook. If you are running Cake and try to open Sportsbook, you'll get a message that says "only one instance of running this program at a time" or the like. So you cannot run both programs at once...just fyi.

I already knew this, but listening to Ray on the cast just reinforced the following......

Ray Zee is the coolest cat on the face of the planet.

Ray is my all-time favorite guest.

Great episode.
I'm one of those people who think his Hi-Lo book is a top 3 2p2 title.
Have Ray back often, please.

The regular dude is away on vaca and we ran out of witty intros. Hopefully around this week for a new batch.

Great show, 2 hours flew by. Wife LOL'ed at "you have not done research for the last 6 months" comment.

It was an okay episode, I'm a fairly new 2p2er so I have no idea who Ray Zee is but his stories were pretty interesting even though hearing up talk about stud put me to sleep. Best part of the show was probably announcing the next guest of the show in 2 weeks, CTS.

Just guessing that you might be under 30 years old. With HORSE dramatically incresing in popularity I think you'll be hearing more about Stud everywhere, not just on Pokercast.

We are definitely looking forward to chatting with Cole.

The concept of HORSE may be growing in popularity but the actual volume of play still seems to be a little stunted. At any given time I could fit the entire HORSE cash game population at Stars in my living room. Stake wise, often the highest stake game is 3/6. The HORSE MTTs generally attract field sizes in the low three digits.

I welcome a bull market in HORSE but I'm not yet seeing it.

Unless you get on FTP which has $2k/$4k going regularly.

horse type action may not be all that popular but you better learn all poker games. as sooner or later in your poker career you will find yourself in some great spots where other games are, and if you are a turkey at them you lose out.

I think there is a dramatic increase in popularity of the mixed games WITHIN the poker community itself (mainly pros) but I'm just not seeing these games catching on with any recreation players.

I'm not denying that there is a lot of money to be made in these games and one would definitely benefit from learning even basic strategy in some of these games (Stud 8, Omaha 8, Stud Hi, Razz, etc.) but I just don't see a huge increase in their popularity with your average joe poker player, to tell you the truth.

Y'know 10 years ago, that's what people were saying about HE. You probably wouldn't remember however.

Two hours is awesome. I took the dog for a walk with my iPod and, since I didn't want to stop listening to Ray Zee, got more excercise than Adam gets in a month - zing.

Adam,
Good luck with the surgery. The upside is if you end up blind, Mike will provide your bankroll for life and likely will have to be your identured servant, so you can play poker with him as your "cardreader". We would all love to see that picture.

Looking forward to the next show already.

Top notch show this week.

Great podcast! Ray, please don't be a stranger to the podcast. In fact, a "Ray Zee Reflects" minute where Ray can tell a story or give a beaver update would be cool.

Pokerroom was the same way.

I had a Hollywood account and a pokerroom account and didn't know they were on the same network until I tried to play on both at the same time.
