The image of Trambopaline stepping out of his class to take a call from Hellmuth regarding a scandal for $10s of millions is crazy. NH sir.

The question of Hellmuth and his role in the scandal is a tricky one. It seems like (and it makes sense from UB's perspective) he was a clean face for the company to present to the outside world, and yeah, maybe he didn't know anything, but then you have the question of whether he should have known something - whether he has any responsibility to investigate the site he was pimping. If he opens the door to any even indirect responsibility, or any sense in which he benefitted, then it calls into question all the money that he received from UB, and that's essentially his entire net worth. I tend to think there's a happy justice that no one has sought to pick him up with a new endorsement deal since. He put his name to a crooked site, so why should any player pay attention to him endorsing anything again.

OTOH, I'm ambivalent about the FTP points and such being ignored. What happens to air miles when an airline goes busto?

The grinder had a deal with 'Deliverance Poker', which was that hokey site that prevented you from 'getting screwed on the river' and were paid based on your equity on 4th street (I think). I'm not sure if the site ever even launched.

Easily one of the stupidest ideas of that year.
