Pokercast 402 - Faraz Jaka Pokercast 402 - Faraz Jaka

03-11-2016 , 09:16 AM
Episode #402 - March 11th, 2016

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: GPL team manager, world traveller and all around good guy Faraz Jaka! To start Adam hit a 1 outer in traffic court and Terrence reviews the UFC upsets. In ICYMI: Is Russia close to regulating online poker? An Amsterdam court rules poker is not a game of skill… A player gets heads up with his girlfriend at a Eureka Poker Tour event, Pokerstars New Jersey VIP club information released and more. Faraz Jaka then joins us to talk about the typhoon that caused him to miss an interview with us a few weeks ago. We also get into his GPL team The San Francisco Rush and the strategies he had in the draft as well as insights into wild card picks and what we can expect to see coming up. Faraz is debatably the most well travelled poker pro out there so we have to talk to him about travel, meditation and just life tips in general. After Faraz we get into the Mailbag and Voicemails, a bit of 140 or less and review some hands in The Roscoe Report. Pokerstars Invitational passwords are in the show too!

November Nineth or will #Octo9 be a thing this year?

Hope Faraz Jaka's San Francisco Rush won't be as bad as the SF 49ers who are currently in the toilet!

Loved the Faraz interview, but have to admit that Terrance was really tilting me through this one. I know you don't generally re listen to your own stuff, but I really think you should listen to this one again. Faraz cut you off 3-4 times, because your questions are too damn long. You ask a great question, then go on for another minute or two giving possible answers to the question. Just ask, and let him answer!

I don't want to be completely negative. I love the pokercast and think you all do a great job, just wanted to mention this. Thanks

If Faraz is cutting TC off, I hope Remko interviews him some time with his 4 questions and 3 observations and two point counterpoints rolled into one question.

I basically now fast forward every time TC is asking a question. Way too verbose.

Rossdrops are still the nuts.

Adam, you luckbox.

I have simple (I think) question: you often discuss betting odds, but I have no idea what things like "McConnor is +350" mean.
How do betting odds work?

If someone or a team is +350 to win a game/fight then if you bet $100 on them you win $350 + the initial $100 bet.

If someone is -350 then you have to bet $350 to win $100.

Regarding Phil being the most impressive name, Joe is the best one to have in the wsop main event:
2005 Joe Hachem
2009 Joe Cada
2015 Joe McKeehen
2016 Joe Showdown, Joe Serock, or Joe Elpaya

I wonder if Faraz Jaka's survival experience is comparable to a big event win? 13 hrs of stressful situation. I just had a thought, this would be Adam Schwartz worst nightmare, totally opposite of relaxation. good to be alive eh Faraz! glad ur still with us buddy! lol

Def not comparible. In a stressful poker session you still have some control over your thoughts and your personal bias and noise in the way.... In these types of situations your thinking Is actually very clear and your priorities and what matters very much clear as well. When **** hits the fan all the pointless things we concern ourselves with disappear. That said its not exactly relaxing. Your body and mind is fully alert in adrenaline mode trying to make the most optimal decisions and trying to cope with the idea that there is nothing you can do to get yourself out of this situation and you have no idea how or when it will end.

I didn't think it was a huge deal I only noticed cutting him off once maybe twice. I can easily see certain guest needing a lead on how to respond to questions and those examples he gives could be helpful to get the guest talking. I usually can't keep my mouth shut and have lots to say on any given subject so might be one of those things where his longer questions w/ examples are appropriate for certain guest but not necessary for others.

Either way had a great time chatting with you guys could've easily chatted for another hour
