Pokercast 356 - Alan Boston and Listener Submissions

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: We’re back up on a Tuesday, and we’ve got your lock of the week! To start off the guys chat about Rick Solomon allegedly winning $40M off of Andy Beal, Terrence taking a trip to Cuba and Negreanu showing up in the news. Moving into “In Case You Missed It” the lead story is the massive Sunday Million that happened last weekend. Adam and Terrence played and they review how they did, the huge field and eventual winners. In other big field tournaments, predictions are out for the Colossus at the WSOP and also Mike Sexton fires some shots at the WSOP in a blog. Other stories covered this week are: MGM Properties no longer allowing bills to play at the poker table, pokerpages.com is sold, The Borgata offers games of skill and Anthony Zinno wins yet another tournament. Our guest this week is fan favourite Alan Boston, Alan is a sports betting guru and poker player. Adam and Alan talk some March Madness basketball and Alan offers his pick for the first week of the tournament (which has been correct for years in a row). The guys then get into the poker talk where Alan talks about a juicy game at the commerce and shares his heartfelt thoughts about his experiences with the late Stu Ungar. In the 3rd segment Steve Day joins us from the Isle of Man at Pokerstars HQ to recap the big Sunday Million, preview SCOOP and talk a bit more about Twitch. The guys then review a bunch of mail that has been submitted by you over the last 2 weeks with some views and questions for us. Adam also gives shout outs from the “Where in the world are you listening from?” thread in the forum and some tweets in “140 or less”. And of course, listen for the Pokerstars Invitational password and format within the show!

Can you post the start/end time for the Boston interview to make it easy to skip over what is hopefully the biggest irrelevant portion of the show
.

Can't say I'm ever a fan of the annual Boston interview, but it's just once a year, and I'm sure some people like it, so I can deal with it.

Alan Boston is the greatest. I really enjoy the conversation every year. As a guy who has a decent knowledge of college basketball, he really knows his **** on a whole new level in regards to coaches and their systems. While I don't agree with him on the "behind the scenes" shade-ball back room deals, I love his confidence as to what he thinks is really happening in those committee meetings.

Awesome interview and great show as always! Thanks guys!

Boston is such a confident guy. Hope to catch him at Foxwoods one day.

Quote of the day. "Put 7 Phil Ivey's at my table and I will play them, and I would win." Good interview and I am putting some small jellybeans on Georgia State +9

I love Alan Boston. I would like to know who this kid is that helped him understand more about hold em.

I could listen to Boston all day. I love that he called texas clueless. I've been begging for Barnes to be fired for years now.

Also in regards to the guy emailing or posting about not enjoying the wsop food coverage. While I understand where he was coming from i couldn't disagree more. I won't go to Vegas during wsop but I found all three interviews fascinating for different reasons. Fricke is just a fun dude and i value his opinion and bookmarked most of the restaurants just cuz I enjoy reading reviews and stuff like that. The unintentional comedy with Kessler is just too good to pass up and hearing him talk about buffets like fricke talked about world class restaurants had me howling. And I was pleasantly surprised and touched by how great of a guy all American Dave seems to be. The idea that he will drop his prices for people that can't normally afford his meals is pretty damn cool.

Spoken like an adult.

Looking forward to listening to the Alan Boston segment. There is so much hype out there on the eve of the tournament. On the major networks, they really don't talk about it from the gambler's perspective. In additon, most of the guys are biased, especially because they are former players. Boston's commentary is straight up unfettered and entertaining.

Yup, thanks to Alan I was on it too! He was also right about the BS surrounding the game in that Dayton had a home game.

Note to Adam re:1st Round Tourney Games

(I am fairly certain this is till correct)

First round games are DBL-headers. That means there are 4 teams per venue. Effectively the tickets for the venue are split 4-ways. The reason the building looks half full is bc the supporters of the non-playing teams don't always go for BOTH games.

In the second round there are now only 2 teams left (it is NOT a dbl-header).

Third round games (and Final Four) are again dbl-headers, but by now the stakes are so high that the venues fill no matter what.

Maybe that sheds a little light on your comment.

And ofc Boston as always - the BEST show of the year. Boise +4 v Dayton came in EASY.

For those of you in territories where you can partake, you can currently lay Kentucky at 2.42 on Betfair for the tournament

Nice bet on Boise St. Now sweating part 2 with Georgia St.

GA St. took an unnecessary deep 3 then Baylor binked one at the buzzer. Big swing going into the half there, but I like +9 (for those of us who bet it yesterday).
