RiBer tell me that you feel
have played the National.
(River Plate how does it feel to have played in the second division)

Boca Junior's biggest rivals River plate were relegated to the second division 4 years ago. Boca take great pride that they are now the only team not to have played outside the top division (i think) The 'b' and 'v' sound in spanish is pretty much the same. The second division is known as Torneo National B or something similar hence RiBer.

I swear that while the years pass,
we'll never forget.
You went to the B,
burned the Monumental,
the stain is
never erased
(The Monumental is River's stadium. Im not sure on this detail but I think that during the game where River found out they were relegated, the fans burnt part of the stadium. I might be wrong on this, maybe Boca fans burnt it in celebration.)

that hen you are chicken ****
(Boca call River 'gallinas' or chickens because they famously choked in a big Copa Libatadores game)

you hit a player that
the plank cowardly drunks
( No idea about this, I'd guess maybe that River Hooligans attacked their own player. Their Hooligans are known as 'borrachos del talbon' drunks of the stand)

The video I posted was the River's first visit to Bombonera after returning to the first division. Hence the welcome...

This was part way through the second half. The game had to be paused for about 10 minutes while this all went on.

Absolutely wonderful.

Ignore what I said about Boca playing Newell's Old Boys on the 24th.

I'd misread the fixture list. They are playing at home that weekend though and would still recommend a trip to La Bombonera.

Isn't Uruguay playing Jordan in the final World Cup qualifying match in Montevideo. How hard would it be to get into that event?

Not getting in until the morning of the 20th, but not leaving until the 27th. And BA is just a short ferry ride away

I didn't think about that.

Yes they will be playing the second leg on the evening of the 20th Wednesday. Tickets aren't on sale yet. As far as I'm aware they can only be bought in person in Uruguay. Maybe on some websites but I doubt at face value.

If you guys confirm you want to go, I can buy your tickets when they go on sale. I went to the Uruguay vs Argentina game and tickets for that went on sale 2 weeks before, it will probably be the same for this.

The Uruguay National games are more of a family atmosphere compared to the crazy club games of Argentina but I fully expect Uruguay to qualify so it should be a good party atmosphere. Its also at the stadium that hosted the first ever World Cup Final, so kinda cool to say you've been.

Keep me posted.

Saw your PM after I posted.

You guys know this game is the night before the LAPT starts and in another city (only 100 miles away though). Just checking.

Considering our original plan was to stay in B.A. on the Wednesday night and get up early to travel to Punte for the noon start, I think going to Montevideo that day and and the travelling 100 miles the next AM or going to Punte after the 5pm soccer game is actually the better option.
