This is what I learned about Maple Ridge last week.

There are homeless people and bears in the green belt. This is a good situation if you're a bear.

A guy walked away from his family on New Year's Eve and died.

Every other house is a grow-op and they're all being shutdown after many years of being ignored.

Family of them live in the woods 50 meters from my back porch. Was walking the dog one day and came across them on the path between our backyard and the bush. I froze in my tracks, maybe 10 meters away from them and they froze too. Dog went nuts (he's a big Shepherd/Husky cross) and they ran off. Whew.

Didn't hear about that. Musta been drunk and froze? It's been pretty cold here the last couple weeks.

They busted one directly across the street from my place. Total family neighbourhood, nice houses etc. Now there's another one on our street about ten houses away.

Thankfully, with the PM pledging to legalize they won't be making any money doing it going forward.
