tons of ppl have been compensated for when bot rings were discovered and such. they never really tell you what its for, so its very possible that nobody knows

back when I was playing $3.50 Fifty50s (not trolling unfortunately) I believe I would receive compensation almost weekly from stars for players colluding and such

Hello,

Thank you again for your report of possible 'bot' use on PokerStars.

We are writing to inform you that we have completed our investigation into these accounts.

We have access to a multitude of technical information regarding the manner in which a player interacts with our client as well as having detailed information on playing styles. In this case, we had some concerns that your report was correct and that these players were possibly using assistance software to help make decisions for them at the table.

Our investigation comprised a thorough review of all the evidence available to us as well as speaking to the players involved. Our final decision is that although doubts remain about whether or not these players were using 'assistance software', we cannot prove this to the necessary level of certainty required to take any punitive financial action. However, as a precautionary measure, we will not allow these players to play again on PokerStars, or Full Tilt, so you will not encounter them again on either site.

We would like to thank you for your patience whilst we have made our investigations and would also like to thank you for your vigilance in reporting these players to us. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Regards,

PokerStars Game Integrity Team

Seems a bit extreme to take the almost 20k in your accounts but at the same time i guess its good stars doesnt make any judgements in these situations.

If you were banned permanently, how did you get back on? Stars have a change of heart?

Things MadStranger cares about:

[ ] opinions about his game
[ ] whether anyone believes the true story
[ ] whether anyone thinks he is guilty
[ ] the law
[ ] money
[ ] whether they compensted anyone or not

Sort of, in the next e-mail a couple days later they said that I could apply to have my account unfrozen after 6 months.

After Madstranger posted that he taught his wife how to play and that's why the accounts have similar styles I realized that honesty and integrity were not high on he/shes priority list

Yeah, that was the inspiration.

Well, you are sort of right about honesty, not about integrity though. When I was posting that, the intention was that everyone would see that my story made no sense and understand what I was trying to say.

I would pretty much never lie to take advantage of someone. In some situations, however, lying is just not that bad.

No one came forward saying that they got a refund, but who knows?

Seems a bit strange that stars takes an accounts money gives it to other players and then that account is seen playing again aix months later.
01-10-2013 , 12:08 PM
Usually honesty and integrity go hand in hand but whatever, you served your time and that's cool. It's a bit of a joke that you say you wouldn't lie to take advantage of someone. I'm sure a number of regs felt somewhat deceived and taken advantage of when they realized you were multiaccounting.

Also, for a logical winning poker player like yourself, changing accounts due to runbad? That's akin to my friends old roommate who would buy new routers constantly hoping for the "lucky one".

First, it's not clear if they gave this money to other players. Personally, I don't care if they did since I don't think anyone really lost more money to me because of the account switch. I might be wrong about it, but that's my opinion.

Second, I am surely not the only player in history who was banned and then reinstated. Justin Bonomo is a well known high profile example. And his infraction was far more serious than mine, he actually played from two accounts AT THE SAME TIME.

On a brighter note, I tried to make a Chinese player fold an overpair today and he almost did!

The whole point of me making up that ridiculous story about wife was to tell other regs that it's my new account without openly admitting it.

When I changed accounts due to runbad in early 2007, I was not a logical poker pro, I was someone just starting out in poker who believed that a poker room can put a doomswitch on a certain account. I did switch back to the "unlucky" account to go for SNE in 2011, didn't I? Surely I wouldn't do it if I'd thought I'd run bad on it.

That wasnt what i meant. I am fine with you playing and also think getting your funds confiscated was a bit harsh. I just think that if stars decides you did something worthy of having your funds taken you shouldnt be playing again.

Either give you a six month time out and let you keep the funds or give the funds to the other players and ban you for life.

The first option, please.
