i'm one of the biggest tableselectors (bumhunters) alive and the only time i ever used ptr for table selection was maybe for a table at 1k or 2k. and i assume that counts for guys like ronfar as well. so the nonsense ala "r u going broke now" is ridiculous bc nothing changes... especially for FR. the only thing that might be influenced a little bit by this ban is HU cash which should be banned itself anyways imo...

the main problem are furthermoar not sites like PTR which makes statistics available - the main problem is the ****load of handhistory pages which are observing and tracking 24 hours a day... i doubt that stars will shout down each and everyone of them tbh and if they do there will be coming new sites, somebody will write a program where u can datamine urself, etc...

if stars really wants to do something against this whole mess they have to ban observer tables completely - at least for everything besides 5k++. i doubt that's ever going to happen and if so, players will just share hh's with their friends... as u can see, a vicious circle...

I guess you guys are leveling but as evident by the comment on every single smallstakes players ptr, ronfar did use PTR. And someone with his skillset really needs it to win, because sitting after an unknown whos only -4ptbb instead of his -15ptbb criteria means he'll probably be a dog at the table.

He doesn't need PTR to win, no one does. Just use a different site. For $90/month you can get daily HH for everysingle hand 600nl and Under Pokerstars has dealt to HU, CAP, 6max FR, NL, it's like 400-500k hands/day. Anyone can check this out, they show you the coverage details before you buy the hands. I was like wow, thats a lot of hands, it's of no use to me tho because it violates the terms of service. Use that with table scan turbo and you don't need PTR

Everyone talks like it's the end of bumhunting, it's not. There's other sites out there that have just as much coverage that PTR did, some with more, some with less, Stars can't shut them all down.

They need to ban observed tables, thats the only way to stop datamining

The way i see it, the list of pros is significant and real

1) pokerstars is publically trying to stop datamining (they have to start somewhere right)
2) their attempt worked instantly
3) they took down the biggest, most widely known site with the most data

the list of cons so far are basically "it's not a pro"

whether or not this particular act taken alone will change things is irrelevent and a stupid way to look at things, the fact of the matter is something is being done, which makes me think that stars is sick of this and I have no reason to believe that if putting an end to ptr doesn't result in changes overall that stars seeks they will take further actions to get the results they want because they always have in the past.

As far as I'm concerned, the outcome from this move and others in the future can only make things better or worst case, things will stay the same, i'll take that spectrum of outcomes any day.
