honestly, if dude was homeless, didnt have money to eat, and wanted to go to detox sending him to jail helped his situation more than putting him back on streets. 15 years still seems absurd considering the circumstances but maybe he had prior convictions so sentence had to be that high?

18 mo for AP dude for processing using credit cards... not stealing.
40 months for "having a role" the lending exec. what role?
15 years was doing the homeless guy a favor. Not really, but agree with HB it's not as bad as it seems
12-20-2011 , 07:38 PM
Meh the guy more than likely has previous convictions. Pure speculation obv but even if he didn't then the judge can't just let him off because he owned up to it the next day. Think how many doors that would open up.

im pretty sure they put ppl in jail for the act of bank robbery, not for how much they steal. i mean if i go into a bank and rob it, then give half of it back, that doesn't mean ****.
12-20-2011 , 07:44 PM
true, its not like amount of time proportionate to how much you steal
12-20-2011 , 07:46 PM
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/...143625999.html

So this guy robs a bank for 1$ to get free health care, and says he will do it again if they let him free lol. Turns out he didnt steal enough $ to get the same sentence as a real bank robber.

I'm sure there would be differences in sentencing for the person that all out robs a bank and runs/gets caught vs the guy that feels guilty and returns the cash. Still getting convicted and thrown in assrape prison tho

Are you saying all the homeless people with no food would be better off in jail? That makes no sense. Jail has other down sides then getting some food and roof over ur head.

lol jail is the nuts compared to living on the streets

you are guaranteed a minimum of 2700 calories a day iirc. far from the minimum! in fact it is not uncommon for people to bulk up during prison stints which cant be done without a calorie surplus.

you get that much food in US prisons?
12-21-2011 , 03:05 AM
noshinthegoolash,,, you gunna be losing this battle. You first brought up US prisons..... then the three posted examples are all US prisons...so yes, we are all thinking US prisons when we suggest that a homeless person would snapcall an invite to a US prison

there's even poker for "cash" in US prisons. you really need to find the link MyTurn2Raise

i guess i am the only one here that haven't spent time in a prison before, so how was it King? Give us a story
12-21-2011 , 03:10 AM
You have to realise that alot of these guys will be non-violent offenders too, who will get put in minimum security facilities, with tv, exercise time, and the potential to recieve an education.

Add the facts that it will force them to sober up somewhat, you will get good food, and that you're probably not getting raped or even harrassed much in a minimum security facilty.

Jail>homeless.

i am guessing the guy's plan that stole $100 worked
