I think you need minimum 100k hands to even think about answering this. The variance is pretty sick (or at least I hope so)

just out of curiosity, how does the hands/hr change in rush as you add more tables? I would think you get diminishing returns on every table you add... making up numbers here, but like 1 table might be 500 hands/hr, 2 tables 900 hands, 4 tables 1400, and 8 tables 2K (and not 8 x 500). Just wondering what the approximate numbers are.

Another failed attempt to book a winning session on nl200. Even the worst fish sometimes manage to win money, but not me.

another Grandpa technology question... (xpost from computer thread)

I was thinking of getting an external USB SSD drive for my computer to store my HEM/hud. Just wondering what the difference in speed is with a USB SSD HD vs getting an internal SSD drive. If there is a slowdown from using the USB port, how much faster would it be compared to just using my existing internal "standard" HD? Any numbers of links would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking of doing the same thing.

Go the whole hog and go internal imho. I've got a 160gb ssd to run my o/s, programs, and my database. It's the nuts and there is loads of space left as i use twin 1tb drives for data storage. The ssd is great for the o/s and photoshop cs4 goes from double-click to fully open an ready to use in under 4 seconds. Less than 2 if the program is in the cache!

Hey,

I dunno what the differences were numbers wise, but if you could get USB 3.0 and an external SSD you'd be damn well off

well I can't say I despise non deep holdem but it is boring as all hell ... I may as well be playing SNG's

FullTilt do a good job of screening names.

Im currently playing against Blacksdie. He's not the sharpest tool bless him, running at a snug 88/78 and lost his stack on one of his tables with j7s.

Edit: He's gone now. Standard cooler Q9 << K2 << AA with a fellow fish

I use an external 150gig hard drive for my HEM DB. As far as playing at the tables my HUD pops up just as fast as it always as. The only time when I notice a HUGE difference is when trying to access very large amounts of data (like a 1million hands graph takes 15 minutes). I have fixed this by just starting a new DB every 100k hands, plus I was having problems with profits being off and this seemed to fix that as well. I do love my portable HD because it makes picking up my laptop and being able to play anywhere super easy.

I just stood up from a rush table. Apparently when you exit a rush table, you can rathole. I'm going to see how long we can keep deep stacks on rush without being forced to rebuy for standard amount.

+1 for USB3.0 or eSata when using external SSD.
BTW, aren't SSD speeds wasteful/useless without Win7?

Sup Schwallie!

Yeah. Maybe this is the way to go. Someone was saying in the computer forum that unless you go eSata or better, you get almost no speed pickup from having a SSD drive (over using a normal drive). Just waiting for a confirm.

Beyond that it's actually a bad idea to have it as your primary drive since SSD is flash based and has a limited number of writes (and your OS makes a TON of small writes). That said, I still have an SSD as my main drive with no issues and was only aware of this recently.
