NL200 - Maxing bottom set NL200 - Maxing bottom set

Don’t have HH as I’m @ work.

Ongame 1-2 NL FR

Villain #1 (UTG+3): Unremarkable TAG, 40 BB deep, sat down 2 orbits ago, never played with him before.
Villain #2 (MP): Weak-loose preflop, LAG post, worked 50 BB buyin to 70 BB
Hero (BB): Attempting TAG but falters to a nit, 180 BB deep after a nice double up

Hero dealt: 5c 5h

2 folds, UTG+3 bets $10, MP calls, all fold to Hero, calls

Flop: Qc Jc 5s

Hero ?

My instinct is to c/r the PFR and maybe catch some $ from MP. Should I bet out and hope to get RR?

Definitely lead out not only for the draws, but that board probably hit somebody's range pretty hard. Also, if they do raise, you can get them to commit with the 3-bet.

Thanks for the advice shorn. @ the time my thought was "trap MP" and I didn't want to bet out and have the LAG call b/c there would be a ton of scare cards on the turn. I wanted to get it all in on the flop and thought a CRAI would be the max value. Of course, if it goes check/check/check, then I'm can evaluate the turn but maybe that's the nit in me talking.

Hero checks, UTG+3 bets $10, MP raises to $30, Hero ?

New wrinkle in the plan, do I just c/c and hope that UTG+3 shoves a min raise and then I shove after MP calls or is this FPS and I should just shove?

Flat call for sure and crai on the turn.

For mid-deep stacks, my default is C/C flop, C/R brick turn. But in this hand other factors make me C/R (prolly AI) flop. Namely....

He's a shorty and he's going to bet the flop hard here.

The QJx flop is going to be all-over MP's CC range, and given your read - there's a chance he may raise this for you.

Bottom line, this flop never get's checked through, and both villains are pretty short. I look to CRAI this flop, and hope to stack two players.

Well, I did what you recommended Christian and CRAI. UTG+3 called instantly and MP waited, said "someone's got a set?", typed in "aq" and folded. I didn't think he could've gotten away from that hand that's why I posted it. Wanted to know if I should have followed Rivr's advice or is it too results oriented?

I think it's a bit results oriented. I don't know I could have folded AQ here in his spot with such a short stack. You got UTG+3 to call - you can't expect to stack 2 villains every time you flop a set. I take it that MP didn't raise the AQ, which amazes me.

Thanks, Christian. I liked my line when I shoved but second guessed myself when he folded.
