NL 0: Put myself in a bad spot with 99 NL 0: Put myself in a bad spot with 99

Not running a HUD, so I don't have stats on the villain. He seemed like a standard villain--not quite Tag, not quite Lag. This is the first time I have seen him get all in.

I am getting great odds to call, but I can't see what i beat other than a flush draw, and I don't really see him shoving that with one card to come.

somebody play this hand right for me please.

Lead the flop instead of check/raise. You will have a better idea of where you're at.

As for the way you played it, i can't see you folding the turn, as you are getting almost 5 to 1 on a call. Hopefully he'll show 77 or 88 or a pair/busted flush draw.

wow that is a awful spot. i probably just call this and hope for 77 88 6x and a suckout.

i guess the only way you avoid this is if you just call the flop for pot control and reevaluate on turn

Yeh lead the flop. If your actually considering folding on the turn you should not have made this bet.

I would rather lead flop and evaluate future play based on his actions. If he raises, w/o reads, I fold. If he flats the flop, I might b/f depending on the T card.

I dont like getting in too deep w mid pairs OOP.

Check raising here only entices better hands to call and many Turn cards will be scary.

Don't bloat the pot OOP with a marginal holding.

DING DING DING.

I think flop bet is standard as well for a few reasons:

1. We need to charge AK/AQ/AJ etc. and those will rarely raise.
2. Need to charge flush draws. Plus, you were pfr, so cbet that shiat.
3. We define our hand better which makes turn easier to play.

As an aside, what does everything think about a stop and go here? I've been using it to play stuff like 1010/JJ oop against a pfr which I think works better at picking off their cbets than a CR.

Thoughts?

stop and go? we are preflop raiser, I don't understand.

Sorry, probably wrong usage of term (like I said, I'm new to it!). Let me clarify.

I think the best line here is to cbet flop for the reasons mentioned above.

If we check flop, would c/c, then lead turn be better than CR flop? I think you get the same amount of info and if raised on the turn, can confidently fold.

So many overcards to come. I prefer playing the flop agro.

Am I missing value?

I like the check behind on the turn and then evaluate on the river but i dont like the turn bet in the slightest

Wow this hand is absolutely butchered.

Notice how villain is getting the exact same immediate odds on a draw when you c/r the flop as when you make a standard cbet. And there's still plenty of stack left to make the implied odds attractive enough.

Then you make an almost pot-commiting bet on the turn, on a card that hit a bunch of hands in his range. duoble u tee eff
