NL 1/2 Live; Bet set when straight card rivers? NL 1/2 Live; Bet set when straight card rivers?

I was really tired, and also a bit under the weather when I played this hand, and want to see what the forum would do here.

1/2 NL Hard Rock Tampa

Hero: $400
Villain: $750

My only read on villain is that he is not a total complete donkey. In a word 'reasonable'.

Preflop:

Hero calls in MP with 44. 5 other callers including the blinds.

Flop (pot $14). Q43

Hero bets $15, villain calls with position on hero, all others fold.

Turn (pot $44) (Q43) J

Hero bets $45. Villain goes into the tank for about 90 seconds and calls.

River (pot $134) (Q43 J) 8

Hero??

theres just no way you can immediately put him on the one hand that beats you (T9), so you really should put in a value bet of close to pot

Exactly what Das Budrick said. Valuebet! If you lose this hand, it's a cooler.

Okay, how much?

Pot, 1/2 pot, all in?

I think the bet must be all in here.... thoughts?

1/2 pot to 2/3. It's a valuebet -- you want them to call, not fold AQ or QJ.

If they push, you have to think a little, but villain is more likely to have top pair, two pair or a broken flush draw than a hand that beats you.

Do "reasonable" players often call 2.5+ pot bets on the river with something you beat?

b/f round 70 I would say you are gonna get calls from worse and fold out miss FD's

they only hand that MIGHT raise on the river that we beat is like Q8. Standard reasonable 1/2 guy that is playing deep isnt gonna bluff ever on this board so if he raises our river value bet I think its a pretty easy fold. QJ and 2 pair holdings either would have raised the turn or might just call on the river given the nature of the board IMO.

I agree. I was thinking a value bet that could be called was around $80. No need to blow opponents out of the pot. You're getting value from a LOT of hands in opponents range.
