I observed the following hand in my live $100-$500 game ($2/$5 blinds). In a 4-way limped pot, hero (a decent aggressive player) has 64o in the BB and sees 9-6-4 (two spades) flop. Hero bets $20 and is called by maniac, a very loose wild player in early position. After the next player folds, MP raises to $80. MP has about $220 remaining in her stack, hero has about $500, and maniac has them covered.
Hero knows that MP is a predictable player who does not raise draws and who overplays one-pair hands (usually going broke when her top pair is beaten). Thus, he believed MP had top pair and I can confirm that MP in fact had Q9o (she later spoke with me about the hand). Hero decided to three-bet to $200, maniac went all-in, MP folded, and hero called.
1. Do you like MP's flop raise? (I don't.) If she just calls, she may be faced with calling around $60 to win a pot of about $200 (not including implied odds) on the turn (assuming a normal sized bet and call in front of her). In this case, how should she proceed?
2. Do you like hero's reraise to $200? Would a more conservative line of smooth-calling MP's raise with the intention of donk betting the turn (or perhaps check-raising a safe-looking turn card) be reasonable?
3. Do you like hero's all-in call?
