I thought it was just me. When I get home from my day job it's one of the first things I do (take a nap). Then I will grind an hour or two and I'm whipped out again.

On weekends I will play one or two hours then rest rinse and repeat this a thru the day. The wife doesn't understand why I'm tired after playing. I'll have to let her know 20 something players experience the same thing.

you guys should work on your health and fitness, as well as balance in your life. no reason to feel like that at your ages. i wanted to create some discussion a year ago, and started a health/fitness thread, and i got, probably deservedly, trollolololed.

right now im using standing desk, on the rainbow diet (eat foods with color), and stopped jerking off. (6 months into these changes)

and i recently started meditating, and i think im gonna try and read before bed to calm down.

grinding is seriously like the most mentally taxing thing ever. i'm pretty much wiped out after a few hours usually

Running absolutely dreadfully. I reckon this is an Omen, and i'm going to be an EV guy this year :[

Interesting. I've developed a new kind of tilt after 5 years. Laughing in a happy way at the absolute nonsense i'm experiencing. This is a good thing?

Try to not read too interesting books, because you will have a lot of trouble to find sleep if your brain is too active (Who has murdered him ? Will the vassal army attack the day after and betray the King? Is Sarah in love with Béatrice ?).

I was with you until the stop jerking off part. Like what does that accomplish? Unless you are getting it all the time and even if so, sometimes a mid day clear your mind tug or when worked up after a long grind and am finished for the day. Throw on some pron to take a load off or should I say out.

The not jacking it to porn I get. That makes sense. Not masturbating at all even without porn (assuming you don't have a gf to get you off) however is just nonsense.
01-27-2014 , 07:03 PM
well kinda depends how often you do it, but for me its just easier to not make it a part of my life at all.
01-27-2014 , 07:51 PM
I can see the merits especially if you are experiencing some of the issues described in the articles etc. Just like most things, different strokes for different folks

This is a good thing. Even if you don't mean it, fake it til you make it. Even if you don't feel good and arent laughing for real, your brain often processes it the same and you feel better. Laughing and smiling create positive energy while anger and yelling create negative energy.

I never thought this would happen, but I have gotten pretty good at focusing on my play and I dont worry about results that much. I literally sometimes forget to check my results after a session, as I almost never check them unless I feel I am really getting hammered and want to take a look at the numbers.

Tbh, I am currently on the worst run of my poker career, 200K of about BE poker(pre RB thank god). I am thankful and very grateful. I tell myself that I am so fortunate to actually be living my dream and to be able to play the game I love for a living. I know you said you don't love poker as much, so that must be hard I imagine. Though you have been playing long enough, and have a long enough track record to know that as long as you keep at it, you will make money.

Obviously, that doesn't make us feel better in the short run but I refuse to allow how I am running dictate how I feel outside of poker. I am human, and I have my moments but when all else fails, that's where hash oil fills the void

Thanks but then again I'm in my early 50's so for me it was refreshing to see that people younger than I get mentally drained after a long session.

I just usually grin a shake my head. It doesn't do any good to get upset when they do what we want them to do...except get lucky.

obv i have sex, just not at the rate that's probably best/healthiest. your body has a way of taking care of the rest. if you quit for a month, you'll understand.

reading before sleeping might be better than staring at the ceiling or TV for a couple of hours before falling asleep
i also need some more exercise in the winter days, when the weather is OK i cycle enough, but 4 months a year i do very very little moving. i dislike going to the gym tremendously, i might just force myself to go out on the bike even if its freezing.
i agree with vini that at 23 there is no reason to feel tired every time you wake up (after enough sleep) and to feel tired after 2 hours of focused grinding. then again i probably live an unhealthy lifestyle, which i often dislike but also often like very much.

our bodies and minds are constantly changing. there are things you can get away with at 18 that you cant at 23, and things you can get away with at 30 that you cant at 23, and many things you can get away with at 23, that you can't at most other ages.

but that doesn't mean we should get away with them because people are generally not self aware enough or see the bad results too late to make the changes in time, and these changes need months to take on their full affect.

in my situation, rolling out of bed, playing poker, getting SNE, and having my PA (read: mom) take care of food, meals, cleaning, as well as not meditating, having other sources of work, or learning any skills caught up to me after a couple of years.

i thought going to the gym was good enough (and it was good in that it helped me maintain the SNE lifestyle), but i needed more than that, and you likely do too. although, to be fair, you put in like 1/6 the volume i did.
01-28-2014 , 12:00 PM
care to elaborate on what's "more than that"? im also making changes in my lifestyle moving towards a healthier present/future. been looking into nutrition, excercising, socialicing more, reading more etc. hadnt thought about not jerking off though :O
01-28-2014 , 12:07 PM
well each one of those categories is pretty detailed, and im still a noob, but off the top of my head: meditation and standing desk seem to have merit. and under the category of socializing more, it doesn't have to just be "going out more". it's about interacting with people in daily situations more. i don't know about you guys, but i'm a natural introvert, so i have to warm up a little, and if you are friendly and talk to people in daily situations, it'll show you how to warm up easier.

I never claimed to be the best 100NL player out there, so go ahead and twist my words some more. Secondly, your post just shows how young and ignorant you really are. I get it, you are 18, have money in your pocket and have everything figured out. I wish I could be 18 and know everything again.
