Curious what you find to be a reasonable 3betting range assuming you have position (not in the blinds)? I cannot figure out the most profitable way to play AK,AQ etc... when facing a raise. If I 3bet, get a call and miss the flop, I feel somewhat obligated to fire at the pot, but am putting myself in jeopardy. If I check the flop and fold, I am setting myself up for some tough decisions once that pattern is figured out.

I would love to hear a few opinions on how you play these hands...

it depends on the opponent, his position, his post flop tendencies, and your image at the table. If villain is 10/8/3 and raises utg I'm not 3betting him with AQ. If he's 22/18 and raises from the CO, I'm 3betting him a lot wider than just AK/AQ. Don't feel obligated to cbet in 3bet pots, cbetting and shutting down in that situation is spew and very exploitable.

Against 1 opponent I will call AK and AQ in position more than 3b.

I will 3b these hands if I believe the villain will call with worse frequently (call 3b stats help here) or if there is some dead money in between eg. MP opens HJ calls CO calls I am far more likely to 3b AK, AQ here.

If my hand is suited I am more likely to 3b also.

If I hit flop (TP) I will tend to play quite passively.

The benefit to playing this way is that you keep worse hands in and can get value from inducing bluffs and value towning worse A's and K's. If you 3b in position you will mostly cause hands like KQ and AJ to fold.
