Fold pre for both hands. You are just not capable of playing these post-flop, learn the basics first imo.

Both hands made me puke.

yeah, fold preflop

2nd hand, bet more on the flop, c/f river. I doubt he's ever folding to anything and his range seems so strong there

So you want to make the guy who doesn't fold, fold. Correct?

C/rai this turn looks suicidal.

he has two pair, straight, set a lot...

Nah I don't like c/r ai vs this guy, I think it's spew, I'd prefer someone that can fold
10-12-2010 , 12:41 PM
preflop is a fold and turn is baad, don't c/rai either...

If both hands are vs the same opponent, I am not sure why you're betting in hand 2, as he clearly hates to fold and you only have J high.

He was passive w/ overcards in hand 1, so his raise in hand 2 should mean some sort of pair at least. And if he didn't fold his overcards, he ain't folding no pair.

As for hand 1, were you bluffing or value betting? And did you have any reads on the player prior to hand 1?
10-12-2010 , 02:27 PM
both are fold pre IMO. Also results oriented doesn't make it the right play just cuz it happened to work out.

K-9s is about bottom of range for hand 1 and hand 2 u need to be very good postflop to take the hand away when you miss even with more connected cards. J-8s isn't good, no high card value, not really connected and not even good flush value so it's a fold from that early imo.

first hand seems fine/standard. i would normally fold Kxs here pre, but if the conditions are right you can play it.

second hand, meh maybe fold pre but not that big a deal. flop cbet too small, calling the small raise is fine. dont like the donk bet on turn, i appreciate what you are trying to do, but check and see is better. as played the river is a no brainer cf against this guy.

which is? What part of their range are we trying to fold out here?

Obv he is folding nothing, and trying to make him fold in this spot seems bad. The one argument I see for betting small like this is to set your own price for the draw, as opposed to say checking and folding to a pot sized bet. In certain situations against certain villains it can make sense. Check and see is by far the best line here though.
10-12-2010 , 05:10 PM
yeah that was my idea behind my turnbet. It was kind of "blockbet" to price my self for the draw. I guess against a better player its obv. what I want to accomplish with my bet there.

Against this kind of villains I dont care b/c I guess he is not able to think in terms of exploiting lines at all...
Do you agree?
10-12-2010 , 05:17 PM
meh, i get what you say, but i still think check and see >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> donk half pot in this spot. he seems to really like his hand on the flop, and you would expect him to jam all day long the turn.

that said since you posted this hand i can only assume one of two things happened:
1. you jammed river, villain folded.
2. you check called river, villain shows 8c7c.

MartinK1 >>>>>>>>>>>> ABC nit poker
