I really hate to c/f the river, but is that the correct play here?

C/F is good unless he gives you an insane price by betting something silly ($15?)

I think we c/f. On the flop, what is his calling range? It's probably any pair, any draw, and possibly overs. On the turn when you bet he may still call with any pair, draw, and any ace since he picked up a gutshot. Now on the river, every flush draw got there, so you're still ahead of most pairs, a missed ace gutshot, and behind something that two-paired up, made a str8, or made a flush. Now the only thing that you're ahead of that may bet the river is a missed ace gutshot, everything else checks behind. So there is very little you can get value out of on the river and very little that will bluff if checked to. We also don't have a strong enough hand to call a bet, so I think we c/f.

These are spots I hate and I feel by checking we're basically making it far too easy for the villain to pick up the pot. Is there any merit here to betting 1/3 pot and folding to a raise of is check/fold the better line?

c/f
