Some will say to fold preflop but i believe there is enough implied odds and steal equity at those limits to play a hand like this in position against a l8 openraiser 120bb deep.

Poker Stars, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

CO: $64.10
Hero (BTN): $248.75
SB: $98
BB: $30.45
UTG: $38
UTG+1: $18.50
MP1: $18.50
MP2: $120.10

Pre-Flop: T 8 dealt to Hero (BTN)
3 folds, MP2 raises to $3, CO folds, Hero calls $3, SB folds, BB calls $2

Flop: ($9.50) J 8 4 (3 Players)
BB checks, MP2 bets $3, Hero raises to $14, BB folds, MP2 calls $11

Turn: ($37.50) 2 (2 Players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets $20, MP2 calls $20

River: ($77.50) 5 (2 Players)
MP2 bets $35, Hero raises to $130, MP2 calls $48.10 and is All-In

Results: $243.70 Pot ($3 Rake)
Hero showed T 8 (a flush, Jack high) and LOST (-$120.10 NET)
MP2 showed Q A (a flush, Ace high) and WON $240.70 (+$120.60 NET)

Did i play my hand badly?
Should i bet more on turn or check for deception and pot control?
Should i just flatcall his river bet?

I'd fold preflop but would sometimes have a look with true connectors. As you say, implied odds are there.

I bet more on the turn hoping for a call from the lone As.

After villain calls on a 3 flush board and then bets the river you should be wary so a flat call would be prudent.

I would bet more on the turn, otherwise totally standard.

Pre-flop is fine. $28-$32 on the turn. Don't think you overplayed your flush at all, this was just a cooler.

Why is this standard? What hands call the river push? If there was a set or overpair on the flop then that small bet the villian put in would have likely been a bet 3bet right? Did you have any read on the villian that could narrow his range to see if you had the higher flush? I find myself in this situation sometimes as well and I'm wondering when better players can call and not raise this.

We've been given no reads on the villain here so to make an assumption like that would be a bit presumptuous I think. He definitely can call with a lot worse when we shove the river, lower flush and sets. It's hard for the villain to put us on a flush here I believe.

Pre-flop is questionable against an unknown. Even against a player you know well, it's probably marginal at best.

I would definitely consider just calling the river.

normally I fold Pf but given you played the hand I think you did it fine except for the raise on the river..I think when you bet the turn hard and he comes out betting on the river shows strength from the villain.
