Just got home, and played 3 rounds this weekend. 1st times out this year. No driver in my bag currently :/

round 1- 114. Par71. fml

round 2- 105. Par 71. Extremly wet on the front nine, cold, and windy. Had a couple balls plug into the ground.

round 3- 99. Was bored this afternoon, so decided I'de put in a round by myself. Turns out I went to school with the guy running the cash, and he hooked me up with free golf+cart for the rest of the year any time after 3.

i'd call that last one a hole-in-one. congrats on free golf.

Picked up a 60 degree Titleist Vokey today. I've never had a 60 degree wedge. Guys who carry one, how often are you using it?

Took the day off work and got a day ticket at a nice course out in the country Chiltern Forest 5547 yards, par 70.
My game went totally to pot. I started topping shots off the tee something I haven’t done in months never mind multiple times in a round. Still had fun once I stopped caring and tried to just concentrate on the few good shots I did hit.

Got in 9 today. Par 35. Shot 46.

Got my first bird of the year. Par 5. I flubbed a 100 yard shot off the tee. Followed it up with a 220yd 5 wood. Put a 170yd 7 iron within 30 feet. And drained the putt.


Starting to get my putting down a bit. 17 putts over 9 holes (no idea if this is decent, but better then it was). I really suck off the tee though this year. I normally hit a 5 wood off the tee because I suck at driving but I switched to a callaway 5 wood this year and it threw off my shot. Now I cant hit either 5 woods consistantly.

39. Two stupid double bogeys. Ball striking was a bit better, smoothed out the tempo.

I had a round like this a couple weeks ago. I hit the ball very well and never made a putt longer than four feet. Fortunately I am a good lag putter.

I played in a scramble on Monday with two nice guys. I would guess about a 22 and a 32. We used my tee shot on every hole and scratched out -5, which was a great score considering we made two bogeys. The about a 32 holed two bomb putts going first. Wow. I am an 8 btw and have been shooting low-to-mid 80s so far this season. It is always fun overachieving in scrambles.

Played for the first time since Labor Day last year. Played my old club, West Shore GCC in Grosse Ile, MI., back nine. Shot 50 for 9 holes, parring the last 3 holes. I've forgotten how to putt, chip, and get out of a greenside trap. On the plus side I am not snap-hooking my drives yet, but I know it's there waiting for me.

Sigh! 15 stableford points. I am so close to having my new improved swing working for me that I can taste it. It is just a matter of a little timing which is way off. Darn.

Shot 79 two days ago. Was a solid round of ball striking. Last 10 holes were 9 pars and a triple....@#@#%@.

One odd thing happened during the round though, had walked onto a local muni and one of the guys in my group was toting a skycaddy and measured drive distances for the whole crew. I hit 3 consecutive drives exactly 274 yards, have no idea what the odds of doing that are but I was pretty impressed.

83 gross, 82 net with 5 3 putts for my best round ever. Game is coming together, now I just need to play more. I'm a good putter and I just had an awful day. Could of been a sick round.

I played the other day with the goal of "no double bogeys".

I made 5 in my first 7 holes.

Shot 47-38 for an 85....completely standard.

On the front 9 i yipped like 4 chips which and took a giant step backwards.
On the back 9 I got the ball up and down from difficult spots like 3 times.
Getting tired of sucking and afraid that it won't ever end (I got a job )

Just feel like posting the fact that I broke 100 for the best time ever, a 96 on a p71. I am very happy about this.

so, i just had the best round of my life at 92 on a par-70 course. what are my chances/strategy to break 90 the next time out? (i am playing 9 in a league tonight, and thinking of playing the par-70 sometime this weekend.)

without knowing your strong/weak points.

I'd guess practice before your round on the putting/chipping greens as much as you can. putting can really make a huge diff.

keep the ball in play off the tee, hit good 2nd shots hopefully, and maybe you'll get there.

shot 91 at deerfield in chicago suburbs, my 2nd best round ever and 5th time breaking 100 (last 4 were my last 4 rounds). ball striking improving but felt like i got pretty lucky with a lot of bad shots that ended up doing pretty well. approach shots finally were solid though.

Shot a 96 today. 46 on the front then kinda fell apart on the last 3 holes of the back w/ a triple bogie, and 2 double boggies. ughh....


I have a question. I made a bet last week (right after a 114) that I could break 80 by the end of the year. Do you guys think this is do-able?

Fwiw I feel like my putting, and <150ft iron game is fairley close to that # right now. But I have absolutly zero long game currently. Havn't kept a driver in my bag for the last 3 years, and am absolutly horrible with it. My 5 wood use to be dependable but since siwtching to a new Callaway 5 wood that's pretty inconsistant too. I'm putting in a decent amount of holes though. 5 rounds, and 3 trips to the driving range in the last 10 days.

Anyways. You guys think high 70's is do-able in 1 year from where I'm at?

I ****ing hate golf so much right now. I was about to buy a $400 callaway ft-9 8.5 degree to "reduce spinrate" b/c i am a good golfer right, got as low as a 2.1 handicap last summer!!

Welp, I shot a 95 today. And I hit every shot off the center of the clubface! How is this even possible. On one hole I hit a sand shot that took two hops, hit off the flagstick center cut, and went over the green and impossibly next to a tree. I hit that one back over the green into the original bunker up against the front lip, with basically no swing. I hack that out nicely and it runs through the green and just into the rough. I chip that to 5 feet and 360 lipout the 5 footer.

How can i justify spending that much money on something that is in no way going to help me that much.

Shot 79. First time out this year. I haven't played to much in the last 4 years probably less than 15 times really struggling from 60yds and in. I missed lots of shots that I never would when I played competitively but thats expected from not playing all the time. I really enjoyed playing again and made another tee time for tomorrow. I think golf has sucked me back in.

Another road trip. 6300/71.2/133, hadn't played there in more than 20 years so I didn't remember the course at all.

+1 through eight, then 3 putted five consecutive holes and I was done.

had a triple on the front (6 shots from 100 yards out on one of the holes :/)

drove the ball well, hit 10/14 fairways and 3 balls around 300 (after roll etc) (thanks las vegas carry distance) in houston i drive the ball 255 or so.
