Rough start with doubles on the first two holes but played decently after that for the most part. Had a difficult time getting the speed down on the greens.

played a scramble today. we finished at like -5. there were 3 of us and one guy might as well have stayed in the cart for the first 15 holes.

highlights:

286 yard drive on the long drive hole. doubt it held up (I left right after)

313 yard drive on a par 5. That's all I have in the tank. turned it over a little and it must have really run out. possibly the longest drive of my life. a "long" drive for me these days is 265

It was free (work paid for it). And yes, it is telling.

The only putts we made outside of 6 feet were for par. And since we only had 3 people one of us had to take two shots every time. And since one guy was useless it was mainly just two of us taking the extra swing.

I'm rarely sore but man am I feeling it today.

edit: not free. i forgot about the $40 i spent in raffle tix. as usual didn't win a thing.

a situation happened that was kind of shitty today not involving me however I think it would be interesting to see the responses.

We have 2 sets of tee's which you can play off. As it's a match play format as long as both agree on a set of tee's then its fine. Yellows is the normal tee's and the white's are the comp tee's

2 guys set off in their match. I think the 1st hole is a shot hole for the higher handicap. They play off the yellow tee's, He ends up winning the 1st hole.

2nd hole no shots given. High handicapper goes 1st hits a good shot. However he went off the whites. I think it's somewhat important to state the whites are probably not even 10 yards further back from the yellows. Other guy calls him out for it and say's you lose the hole for playing off the wrong tee, which I think is a little harsh given the fact he made the hole slightly harder.

Not sure what the actual ruling is on this. I personally think you either just let him keep that shot or make him tee up another one without a penalty.

Not sure what's on the line (money?) But agree with your statement. It seems like an honest mistake. If it's just a fun league, I'd just let his shot stand. If there was money involved, I'd make him hit from the proper tees without penalty.

Dude sounds like a fun sucker for calling a penalty and loss of hole. Especially if he saw him teeing it up on the wrong tee, didn't say anything, and then called the penalty.

It's just a league to which points are up for grabs. Money at the end of the league if you finish in the top 3 spots or something. These 2 particular players are out of contention though.


I did a search on it and it was a vague search and think I found the ruling, In short if you play from a wrong tee, The other person has 2 options he can keep your ball in play or make you replay the shot from the right tee both without penalties.

Funny thing was the guy who called the penalty ended up winning 3&2 (on the 7th) after they played that hole he said forget about the 2nd hole we can just halve that so the match could carry on. The other guy refused and just accepted the loss.

Yeah. If I was him I'd have called it a day too. No fun playing with a guy like that.

81 and 82 over the weekend

Somehow pull off a 36-38-74 today with 2 birdies and an eagle. Got the cart path assist bounce and had 153y into a par 5. Missed green but made the putt from about 5 yards off.

+1 on the 9 hole roll up tonight.

Hit it like a complete twat good to come away with a decent score.

Hit my friends 2nd hand driver tonight afterwards. Felt so strange as he had a 3 wood shaft on it actually felt like a kids club.

+8 77 from me today.

Tee to green I was decent. Strangely enough it was my short game that cost me today. Never really chipped anything close and I think I had +4 three putts.


I think I'm a little lost with my chipping and pitching right now. Past few weeks I've been playing everything low and spinny. Where as before I would play high and soft. Need to learn to play them both and pick my spots properly.

No birdies, 2 doubles

Had our semi-annual shootout for my Saturday group after our regular round. 10 players, 2 eliminated each hole. I tee off 8th (and I get a shot). Of the 7 before me 2 go on the trees left (but have a shot) 3 go in trees right and I thin2 had to take a penalty. I hit good drive. Lay up with 6 iron and the wind grabs it and throws it left right into the roots of the tree. It looks like it is between rails smaller than a golf club. Swing #1 nope, whiff. Hit the root and club shoots over the ball. 2nd one I manage to get back to the fairway. Hit my 5th on and 2-putt for a double, net bogey.

It's 3 for 1 spot (all other people from their drop made bogey net par, except one). We can't watch others chip. I hit an average one but was good for 2nd place and I am eliminated in 9th. So I guess I should just drop from the tree and hit it on (had around 140y) and make my 6 net 4 and breeze into the next hole. Fail.

Did a 3v3v3 scramble today.

I had a 25 and a 17 handicap with me all had to take 6 tee shots each. I was done by the 12th with mine. We killed it though shooting -7 other teams shot -1 and level. I thought -5 would be good considering the conditions.

The 2 I was with were so solid with the putter. Don't think they missed a putt inside 7 feet between them.

-7 in a 3 man scramble with a 25 and a 17 sounds ridiculously good.

You've got to take in the fact my course is easy it being 63/97 with a Par of 69. Saying that though I think the rating is a little harsh probably should be a 64/65ish. So yeah, when I post scores without going into detail about the course you will know it's my local. I play off 8 around here (Index 9.4) So I need to shoot 2 over to play to my handicap.


Saying that though I won't take anything away from them they were good. I had the choice of a good friend of mine who plays off like 27 or the 25 handicapper. Given that the 25 handicapper is young and has a lot of speed I thought he'd be super useful. I have a handy short game if he could get my up and close to greens then will do alright. Saying that though he only hit one decent drive in play and that was on 15 on a par 5. Then to add they were both very good at holing putts. I only had to tap stuff in basically. Oh, and by picking him over my friend I think my friend took some offence to it in a serious way but I cba to deal with dramas like that anymore people are getting way to soft these days



The young guy is quite new to golf and doesn't seem all that confident in himself golf wise. I made sure to tell him he played well today etc to hopefully give him some confidence. I think he will be good a year or 2 down the line. I remember we did a 3 club challenge the other week. He took 3 wood Wedge Putter and shot +13 (51 points) and he said it's the best round he has had.

94 today, felt like it should have been 85 or so. Couple gross breaks turned pars into double/triple. Putted fantastic, 31 putts, and had 6-7 more either lip out, die right in the jar or sit right on the side. Tee shots weren't good today, 2nd worse SG off tee since I've tracked. Full irons were really good for me. I've been hitting 50-80 yard shots great recently, but botched them all today including a full hosel. Not concerned. Definitely feels good to be pretty annoyed with 94 and like it was the worst I could have done, not that long ago 94 would have been a celebrated round.

Really only highlight I had was on a 500 yard par 5. Wind into right to left. Decided to play this hole differently and if done ok its stress free. My plan was to hit 6 iron off the tee then rescue then wedge. However plan didn't go well. Chunked the 6 iron off the tee about 100 yards. I then hit a cracking rescue about 200 yards down the fairway. I had about 200 left in to a back flag. I pulled the rescue out again however I had to get it to turn over a bit as going right at it was not a option with bunkers protecting the flag. Hit it flush and went about 195ish with a slight draw on it and ran up the green. Hit a good putt but just missed but had a tap in Par.

I wasn't really a fan of hitting hybrids but this club has become probably one of my best clubs in my bag recently.

9 hole league match tonight

won 3&2

Played really well, Had 2 birdies, 3 bogeys and 2 pars.

Was quite worried about this guy. I have to give him 4 shots over the 9 holes and he can hit a ball. Thankfully he didn't really show up tonight.

puts me top of the league with a record of 14-2-1 have about 8 matches left to play with 1 guy that could potentially match my record assuming he wins all 3 of his matches that he is behind on, Haven't played him yet.

75 and 85 on Tuesday. AM round was at my home course. PM round was at Brier Creek in Raleigh.

77 at Devil's Ridge in Raleigh today.
