Pretty good around a course I've struggled with. Think I've only ever broke 80 once around here. 10th was a disaster hit a alright drive but was blocked out and hit a tree with a 2nd, Miss hit 3rd and had a wedge from around 100yards. Hit it to 15 feet above the hole and thought nice good shot. The only thing is this green is funky and I hit it above the hole. So I have this 15 footer downhill with about 10 feet of break. I thought I hit a good putt literally tapped it brushed the hole and rolled by to another 10 feet

Really happy with the round and it was super pleasant only a few people on the course and was never held up and we didn't ever really have to look for a ball and the weather was perfect.


With my general ball striking actually found something that was working consistently, So hopefully that will continue.

Seems putting back up the slope, away from the cup, may be the way to stop it nearer the cup.

I'll actually give that a go next time I play it. I did pop a ball down and played more break and got it to about 3-4 feet.

I think though I could take more care in my approach shots and start leaving them under the holes. This is something I never really think of normally unless it's super obvious to do so . On this particular hole though it was hard to do so as anything a little short is rolling off the green giving you a tough pitch/chip.

Was -2 thru 3. Swing wasn't feeling good. Swing was better after that and I go +8 over the next 9 holes. Then Finish -1 over the last 6.

Walked 9 on Wednesday with 3 strangers that seemed to be purebred knuckleheads. Lots of inside jokes flying that went over my head. 2 pars 3 bogeys. Rest was unremarkable for score.

Par 4 eighth hole. 265 yards. Hard dogleg left at 125 yards from green. I play mid irons to the corner usually, but one guy says hes going for it over the trees. After some chatter on the topic of hitting the green, I suggest we do closest to the pin for a buck off the tee.

He makes it over the trees but we heard it hit the trees short right of the green. Other 2 guys missed far right. I hit a low 3wood that I hoped would draw, but it went into the far trees. Our tee shots were about 10 feet apart in the trees but he was closer. Was a fun 9.

Yesterday I tried to get out for twilight discount at 18 hole course. League was playing though. Oh and they aerated the greens(they were almost recovered) and the computer was down. So they sent me out on the back for free.

4 bogeys. 1 par.

9 hole roll up coming to end next week and the 7 best scores count I'm in 2nd 3 points off 1st, In scoring terms I need to shot -2 to tie with first place.

We were playing the back 9 tonight. Cracking start Birdie -1, Followed by 5 Pars. Then this short Par 3 killed my hopes I under hit the putt and ended up 3 putting it to put me level, Which isn't the end of the world but 17 is tough. Hit a alright drive had about 170 in hit a nice 2nd shot with a slight draw entering the front of the green, However the bounce went straight left into the bunker. Played a half decent bunker shot but couldn't hole the putt, So it was all out the window coming down the last which I got a Par for +1.

I'm semi happy I didn't shoot -2 though, Guy who I was playing with is like 6th on the leaderboard and he got like 23 points which put's him 1 point ahead of the guy in 1st now. I now need to shoot -3 just to tie next week and it's the front 9 which plays a little harder than the back so I doubt that will happen. What I did request is that I wanted to be in the group with the top 2 leaders just too see it happen I actually cannot wait for it.

46-42-88. (Par 36-35-71). No birdies, many double bogeys. 70.6/140/6291 yards. Wuskowhan Players Club, West Olive, MI.

Very nice private club, excellent conditions, nice layout, played like a hack. Ball striking was mostly off, short game not good, didn't sink putts though speed was pretty good.

46-48-94. No birdies, lots of doubles may have been some worse. 68.9/121/6000ish yards.

Everything was bad. Not just off, bad. BAD. Okay, putting was average. But it's hard to get excited about one putts for bogey. Or worse.

Not great, but at least I made some birdies. Our group of 3 put up 11 birdies on the day.

Played the (4) par 3s -2 today which was pretty fun.

Played a set forward as my dad was in town and he rarely plays anymore but I hit it solid and had a lot of good looks at birdie. Made two awful doubles but overall a very solid day.

38-39 77. 10 fairways, 12 green, 34 putts, 3 penalty shots, 3 3 putts

Busy two weeks ahead and then should get into a groove with a lot of golf this fall

Hit a good drive to 95y out. Hit 54* to 20 feet. Hit the putt a bit hard but hit the center of the cup for birdie. -2

Pit was in front. Pured a 7 iron to the back of the green. Had around 50 feet and lagged past about 5 feet. Made the comeback putt for par. -2

Tough par 3 and missed the green left with a 3 wood. Have a tough downhill chip. Hit it really good, checks right away and then trickles in for birdie. -3

Good 3 wood off the tee and plugged it in the fairway 128y out. Thinned the PW but managed to skip and spin it to about 12 feet. Missed the birdie putt, tap-in par. -3

Another good 3 wood off the tee. Have 237y to clear the bunker just short of the green. Hit another good 3 wood on to 40 feet. Lag putt and a tap in birdie. -4

Good 3 wood and had 125y left. Hit a really good shot but hit the downslope on the green and rolled out to 30 feet. Hit a good putt to tap-in range. Par. -4

3 hybrid off the tee but pulled a touch to right rough just short of the bunker on the upslope. Not a great lie with 148y left and hit one of the best shots of the day, 9 iron to 6 feet, Make the birdie putt. -5

Solid 7 iron but pulled it a touch, still on to 40 feet. Hit the first one too hard to 5 feet, make the comeback for par. -5

Good hybrid off the tee in the left rough (the short way to the hole). Hit PW from 128y but it jumped and had 50 feet for birdie. Nice lag to a foot and make par. -5

Just LOLOL. Get on the tee and I hear the mower about to come around the dogleg so I wait. Proceed to heel a 3 wood into the trees right. Go up and look, OB. Re-tee, fairway, fairway, green, 2-putt double. -3 35 69.

Now low and sooo mad walking off of the course.

My round started like Bogey then Double... yeah I just wanted to walk off but club champs on the weekend so I stuck around and went around in +4, Couple of birdies in there to 1 thing I've been lacking recently is making birdies.


Some people at the club want me to be the club captain down there but I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle. The guy doing it now well he isn't official but he basically is organising everything and he does a really good job. However I don't think the club want him as he drinks way to much and way to early and is also loud asf and his language is questionable when he isn't fully aware who is around him (Ladies, Kids etc)

That was a workout, Wind was up and the longer holes played into the wind. I'd say it was a 2/3 club wind, It was also wet as we had a bit of a down pore last night in the UK. I missed a lot of greens I felt like it was hit it close to the green chip on and 2 putt for most of the holes.

What blew the lid for me was when I was on a Par 3 only like 120 into the wind and I've tried to punch it a little but some how I've shanked it ended up with a triple. Par 3 actually killed me today +7 on them.

16th it started to down pour with rain and I was stood under my umbrella for a good 5 mins waiting for my playing partners to play up to the green. They didn't so I just chipped on putted out and waited under a tree for them.

Ugh.

Two pars, 5 doubles, a triple and a quad. 22 putts. Can't see to put together a decent round on my new 'home' course. Thinking it is time for a lesson.

47 (par 35) last night. No birdies, several doubles, I don't think anything was worse.

Wasn't feeling it at all. At least I got a nice walk out of it.

Three rounds this weekend:

Saturday: 39 - 42 = 81

Good news is no doubles+. Bad news is, no birdies. 9 bogeys and 9 pars. Played from the second from furthest tees, where my handicap is 10 something, so it's a qualifying score.

Sunday: 43-40 = 83

Just an off round, and from the easier combo tees where handicap is an 8. This was the Labor Day tournament and I ended playing with a 19 handicap after my scheduled partner couldn't play due to injury. He held his own, we just couldn't get it together as a team. We were only two under net (format was best ball stableford on front, combined stableford on back), which was three strokes out of the money (they paid a bunch of spots).

Monday: 37 - 42 = 79

Back to the long tees, and it could have been special. Three bogeys and two birdies on the front, but bogeys on stupid easy holes on the back: started with a bogey on an easy par 3, then a bogey on an easy par 5 when I overshot the green and had a hard time getting up and down. Then I ended with a double on the par 3 17 after misjudging the wind and flying the green into a tough bunker. More of the same on 18: overshot the green with what I thought was a perfect shot, into the fescue. Wind was whipping.

Overall for the weekend there were some very positive things. On the negative side, my driver is back to being wonky. I'm still getting distance, but can't get rid of the slice. Probably get a lesson soon.

Edit to add: they re-rated the course, and the changes are HUGE in terms of which holes I get strokes. On the plus side I now get strokes on two fairly easy par 4s (one has a difficult green....can't for the life of me figure out why I get on on the other), but DON'T get strokes on what are, in my opinion, two of the toughest par 4s. I did pick up a stroke on #18, which is nice....always nice to have one last stroke in your back pocket.

Played Donald Ross from 9 at twilight yesterday. Hit a few decent short game shots but otherwise I didn't hit a single solid shot. Par on 9 only decent spot.
