46-43 - 89. Consensus top-2 course in Finland, 39 euros and weather perfect for middle September. Course in great condition, played from 6450yards. Greens really quick, difficult flag positions, tight roughs. Exposed my short game all the way through, actually hit pretty well after horrible start. Three-flight friendly tourney, gotta love golf on days like these.

43-46-89 in my afternoon round. Very ho hum.

Story time: My morning round included a single and pair with me. The greens had been aerated perhaps 9-10 days ago. On every green, at least one of my playing partners' putts skipped/hopped up a bit. I think it never happened to me. I used to think that such a thing was bad luck, but what I saw in this round is making me reconsider.

Played LPGA International Jones Course in Daytona. Was a fairly open & playable course. I didn't have my 54* wedge since I left it somewhere on the 2nd course yesterday!

43-42-85. 5 FIR, 7 GIR, 34 total putts (1 3-putt). 3-5 bogeys that could easily have been pars on the card (lip burners from 4-8') and only 2 big numbers (1 double, 1 triple) made it a pretty uneventful/annoying card to look at. Missed all but 1 fairway on the front, and airmailed lots of my approaches from good lying rough.

At least I ended my birdie-free round streak of like 5.

I played Springfield two weeks ago and shot 100, and I didn't even play badly. I find it to be a difficult course, with lots of uneven lies. And yes, the rough is very long right now, I think because it hasn't rained much. It was also long at Fort Mill, Edgewater, and Olde Sycamore when I played them. Stonebridge was less brutal.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is the toughest I have played so far in the Charlotte area. That doesn't change how poorly I played, but it helps a little I guess. I find Stonebridge to be a track where I can put a good number up, but for some reason I cannot get past 14,15&16. They kill me every time and really shouldn't.

I'm in Nashville on business this week and am hoping to get out one afternoon and try something ive never played before.

First round back at my home course after my holiday (played a bunch in Sydney as well as a round at a super ritzy high end course in Bali while holidaying).

They're doing some work on the 2nd and 13th fairways, so they've been reduced to temp ~115m par 3's for the time being, so course playing par 70 at 130 slope (usually p72 s136).

Shot 47-44-91 (67 net). 4 pars, 9 bogeys, 3 doubles and 2 triples. 35 putts. Hit atrociously with my driver, but somehow set myself a new PB at my home course with that round. Also, it was raining for the most part which made things a bit trickier.

My rounds in Sydney (from memory):

Northbridge - net 70 (par 63). Very short, hilly course. Played terribly

Mona Vale (1) - 50-42-92 (net 67). Practice round that did include a couple of mulligans on the back 9, but I was striking the ball incredibly well.

Long Reef - net 74 (par 71). Beautiful course by the ocean - opened with a fairly mistake-free par-bogey-bogey-bogey, then lost a ball in the rough by the 5th green and had to take a wipe. Wheels fell off there and then. 33 stableford points was respectable but should've done a lot better.

Mona Vale (2) - net 77. Had 7 points thru the first 8 holes, was pretty disgusting. Scraped together 30 points with a strong finish but all in all it was some pretty terrible golf. Great course though.

Also played Nirwana in Bali. Stunning course. Got a bunch of photos if anyone can tell me how to post from an iPhone.
Funny opening hole there - short dogleg par 4, I drove the green with a 3 wood, then managed to 4-putt a bogey. Has anyone else ever managed to miss eagle, birdie and par putts all on the same hole? I think I finished with a 103 off the stick there, which was about 5 shots over my hcap. Took a lot of unfortunate penalties with balls finding water or rice paddies.
Missed a tee shot off the side of the cliff, but managed to find it on the beach (lateral hazard, not OB) and pitch onto the green. Our caddies said in two years they've never seen anyone play off the beach before.

Got my PB today of 75, game is easy when u take ur driver out of the bag lol

43-39 - 82, par 71 and easy course. Hit pretty bad, short game was good. Been playing around a bit with the impact zone stuff and even looking infront of the ball when hitting (just don´t think that is the answer for me long term). For sure I´m bottoming too early, does feel good when I hit it better but it´s a work in progress heh.

Last round in Hawaii, played a local muni, Par 70, 5861y, 114 slope

38-38--76

Course was in pretty damn good shape. 1 birdie 1 double rest pars and bogeys. One bogey was a 3 putt from the fringe, the other a 4 putt from the fringe. Driver started working well in the back. Long drive of 318 on the day with the trade winds.

43 - 40 - 83, same course as ytd. Hit better than yesterday but could not get up and down. Liked the new Scotty putter but strokes were off. Also it was pretty cold out there, fall creeping up big time damit.

Driver was actually fine then forgot how to play golf after that. You know it's bad when you take a practice swing from 135 yards in the middle of the fairway and say to yourself "that felt like a shank swing."

Bet you can guess what I did when I actually tried to hit it there . Gots to get to the range.

41-40-81. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys.

Played a different course today, one that usually gives me a hard time. Pretty happy with this.

45-42 87 at my home course. Was cold and rainy today.

9 pars, 3 bogies and 6 doubles

I'm yipping off the tee box and have been for the last month. Had a duck hook into a lake and a push slice OB. Topped a driver that went like 80 yards. Chunked a 3-wood :-/ then like 7 or 8 tee balls that were just smashed and down the middle. Iron play, short game and putting pretty decent. Just need to figure out how to get off the tee on 14 holes and not just 10

Hit driver that went 50 ft and into a tree. Somehow the divot was 6 inches past the ball, a foot long and hooked at about 60 degree angle from where I was aiming.. I have no idea how I did that with my driver. Triple bog

Played 9 Thursday and broke 40 for like the 2nd time ever with a 39. So was feeling pretty good going into this mornings round. They had a little Sunday morning scramble off the front so went back 9 front 9. Shot 42 with 2 penalties, but had decent birdie chances on 4 of the holes. 2 doubles and 2 bogies.

So going to the front feeling pretty good, I start thinking about breaking 80. Duff an approach on 1, save bogie. Snap hook drive on 2, save par. Block OB on 3 and end up with a 8. Deflated. Par 4 and 5. Then thin an easy chip over green on 6 but save bogie. Kinda regroup and tell wife who is riding with me (not playing) that if I par in I'll shoot same as the back 9 even with a 8. Proceed to hit 3 fairways and 3 greens!! Left 1 birdie putt short, but other 2 just drifted right at the hole. Beyond happy with the way I refocused on final 3 holes.

42-46 - 88. Course full so played with 3 guys I don´t know. Turned out to be 2 estonian juniors and dad scoping out the course for next weeks finnish jr tour qualifiers. Obv they played from the back, first time for me from there. Really happy with how I hit, 10 pars but also one quad (Only bad drive found water, hit from hazard but it wasnt my ball lol so 2-penalty I guess) and one triple. Many putts. Greens really fast and the kids were trying to mute their curses heh. Fun to watch 14-year olds rip it. First hole was 200yards par 3 (but downwind), other kid hits perfect and it hits the post but does not drop lol, was thinking "uh oh hope I don´t suck too bad".

37-41-78. 2 birdies, 2 double bogeys.

Driver largely AWOL, otherwise played decently. A couple short game screwups, damage minimized by pretty good putting.

Pretty windy day...I'm 2 under after 4 and then then I play...meh...the rest of the way. Decent driving day...must've missed about 10 putts for par between 4 and 10 feet. I think I can legitimately break 80 from the pro tees.

The birdie I stuck to within 6 feet...drained it.
The eagle was a downwind par 5...hit a 4 hybrid 260 yards to within eight feet. Drained it.

Good eagle, tho.

43-40-83

Was as hung over as I have been in several years. Thought I might throw up on the 3rd hole. Started to sober up by the back nine. walked the whole way. felt great when I was done. What a great hang over cure.

That actually seems like a tame 7000yd course Dom. Some courses I play around here have their shortest Par 3 playing 180+ from the tips, and 1.5/10 more course/slope rating.

Oh, it's definitely beatable...but you must hit it straight, or you are in desert brush...no hitting from next-door fairways.

40-40-80. The other top-2 course here, but greens were slower than normal so easier. Still had trouble putting. Half of shots were good but man there were many so-so and some bad ones. Just did not get punished much on them. After hitting pretty good a couple of rounds it sucks now even more when I can´t make contact. Gotta milk all the good weather days, end of season getting close.

40 on the front with 3 lateral hazards, made bogey from 2 of em, 1 birdie....

Then when you think you have it figured out....

49 on the back. Honestly would be much, much more but I picked up after I hit double. Developed the shanks on 12 and had them through the 17th (I think 3 or 4 in total).

Driver was working good for the most part. Great drive on 18, cut the corner, have 215 to the hole, and drop it in the water left of the pin. Walked off after that.

At least my handicap should go up for the member/guest the middle of next month.

I fought the shanks on the range today (just with my 9i), went out and played. Ended up being a non issue

41-45-86. Avoided double or worse on front but was a magnet for them on the back (lost ball, hazard, a punch out & 3putt)

But the big highlight of today : I MADE MY FIRST EAGLE! Short dogleg left Par4, I push my 3w into the primary rough ~145-150yds from the flag. Smooth my 8i, starts a little right but draws softly, lands on the front and releases into the flagstick.
