37-44--81

Actually parred the last 3 holes. Had quite the train wreck the first 3 holes of the back 9. Teed off at 6:40 and it was freaking freezing and windy, temps in the 40's. Didn't warm up until I was done playing. Had no idea it was going to be that cold.

47-41-88. Home course (72 / 134) is tough, and it played even more difficult today. Happy with the back 9 especially since I started it with a DB. Drove the ball nicely, consistently in the 245-260yd range

Greens were as hard as a tabletop, elevated & the fronts are soft & sloped up making rolling it onto the green a serious chore. Front pin placements are basically impossible unless you play with extreme height/spin. Combine that with the rough being thick/long and it plays a lot tougher for a mid HC like me

"37-38-75". 1 birdie. Easy 5700 yard par 71 course. Score in quotes because it's just what the card said. I didn't keep it and I don't think it was too accurate, felt more like an 80.

Ko'Olau - 6800 yds - 150 slope

+8 through 13 holes - 5 holes were unplayable because of recent rain. All bunkers had to be played a GIR because the ALL held water. I actually lost 3 balls in greenside bunkers because they were deep and had water in them. Combine that with murky water equals lost ball.

I guess highlight of the day was making par on a long par 4. Carried it over the second ravine and had 125y to the green.

Now the fun part, some of the better pics taken on the day:

15th tee - looking the other way was a nice vista of the city and ocean below.

10th tee - Weeeee a rainbow!

Waterfalls on the mountainside.

So shooting 76 last week must've given me a big head, because I played again yesterday even though:

I played poker and drank like a fish until 5 am
My tee time was at 8am
We played from the tips for some ****ing reason
I'm old

So naturally, I shot an 89 lol.

I mean, Bobby Jones used to party all night and then go out and shoot a 67. Apparently, I am not Bobby Jones.

Too bad about the course conditions. +8 through 13 isn't bad at all on that course. Great pics though... I have a similar set.

I think that was Walter Hagen.

But count me as impressed. Even in college if I drank until 5am I wouldn't be able to play for 2 days. I'm a lightweight.

Played the Colorado Mid-Am qualifier today. My last couple rounds were pretty bad so I wasn't feeling super confident going into this, even though it was on my home course. Weather was cold and rainy, but at least it wasn't windy. Ended up hitting the ball great and shot 71. Had 11 fairways and 15 greens. Holed a second shot for eagle. Putting was pretty bad, had a few 3 putts and missed a bunch of others. Could have had a career round if I was putting well. But I'm not complaining, ended up T2 and easily qualified: http://www.ghintpp.com/cga/TPPOnline...=470&pid=35817

36 (par 35). No birdies or double bogeys/worse.

Mediocre ball striking, good chipping/pitching (all the practice I've had lately is paying off), decent putting.

45-47-92 (6,188, 70.1/125)

Doubled every par 5. So bad.

46-43-89 (6553yd, 72.9/134). Longer/tougher track than I'm used to, so I was pretty happy with breaking 90. 5 3-putts really sunk my score. One of those rounds where I'm pleased despite the score, as my long game was excellent outside the 2 driving errors.

Kapalua Plantation Course 6,674y - 73.3/140

43-40--83 (+10) - 10 pars, 6 bogeys, 2 doubles

A sustained 25-30 mph trade wind on the day. Took several holes to get used to the wind (plus no warm-up). The fairways and greens have been aerated within the last week (the greens 2 days ago). The greens were by far the worst I have putted on in my life. They probably ran about a 3 on a stimp meter. Had to have the auto 2-putt on because it was impossible to make anything over a tap-in.

Found a good low tee shot for against the wind 7 holes in and I hit it well from then on. Was 3 over the last 12 holes.

Played the tips the last 2 holes.

17 - 508y Par 4 - Plays downhill and downwind. Hit a good tee shot, not great, and had 226y left. 2nd shot plays severely downhill. Hit 4 iron to about 30 feet, made par.

18 - 663y Par 5 - Severe downhill the whole way. Hit a better than average tee shot and had 320y left to the pin (thank you 342y tee shot). Carry over the green side bunker was 290y. Decided to hit 3w and go for it. Ended up short by about 15 yards. After my drop I had 183 and hit a nice shot to 20 feet, salvaged bogey.

Aside from the greens the course was just amazing. Up and down hills and and over ravines. I was aware of the aeration and had a discounted green fee (of $205).

I would love to play the course during the peak season to see the runout of some of the shots.

43-42-85. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys

Club championship this weekend. Lots of mediocrity. Nothing real horrible, nothing great.

That sucks the greens were aereated. When I played it back in May the greens were beautiful.

Guess the 76 wasn't a fluke...

37-40-77

Didn't really play that great, either...no double bogeys, though. Missed a one-footer for a birdie on a par 5, that sucked. Didn't play the par 5s well at all. Missed two putts under two feet for par, too.

I've played a few rounds since I last posted and they were not very good. I feel like I'm going backwards. Posting just to keep myself honest. I have played a lot this year, and historically when I play a lot I start trying to crush the ball and my game goes backwards. I play in the am and am hoping to keep this in mind and slow everything down.

Something that has helped me lately is a teaching pro telling me that "everyone tries to hit the ball when they should just be trying to make a good swing. Forget about the ball."

I pretty much struck my irons as pure as ever my last round. My wrist flip all but disappeared and my flight/distance was historically good. When it comes down to it, less effort (or the mental perception of it) often translates to better results in the golf swing

I like Eagle Chase, but it's nearly an hour from me. Not a course where you can get away with a shaky driver. I never play well there - but then again thats why I'm a 22 handicap!

42-44-86. 9 fairways, 0 driver errors, 4 GIR, 31 putts. Approach and bunker game were god awful. Driver at all time best status, left myself 9i or less on all but 1 or 2 par4s. Didn't GIR a par 3 or par 5, disgraceful.

Have another round starting in 40 mins. Love Daytona Beach

I'm a22 as well. I played Springfield today and was +2 after four holes. Finished with a 107.....:banghead:

Just fell apart with my short game. Driver was better but erratic. First time on the course and the rough was unforgiving.

I had a stretch of three triples in a row on 6,7&8 and never got my head back in it.
