I shot 81 today from the teeeyips in the wind. I felt pretty good about it. My putting was awful, missed probably 3 putts inside 6 feet and wasn't threatening the hole from anywhere.

Highlights:
-got up and down like 7 times. I think I'm turning a chipping corner.
-my new sand strategy is to just chip it like it is on the fairway and somehow I never pick it clean and it just comes out perfectly.
-I hit a 346 yard drive. Driver 9 iron into a 460 yard hole is awesome. Then two holes later I hit driver/7 iron into a 440 yard hole. Golf is so much easier this way.

Played some of the worst golf I have ever played yesterday, then followed it up today with some of the best golf I've played this year. Yesterday's round i stopped counting, but I lost (or gave up on) 8-10 balls and probably shot about 102, today I shot 82. Worst score today was a bogey, I think I had 3 quads yesterday. What a stupid game.

My other swing thought of "throw your hands at it" seemed to work for a few years, but as my chipping has improved, that idea has gone to sh*t. I can do it "standard", but I am horribly inconsistent and I can either knock it to a foot, or skull it 126 yards and make a 9 on a par 3.

You could go with my garage, but that likely wouldn't satisfy your spamming intentions.

Just shot an 88 on a 68.8/122.

Highlights: Birdie on par 5 18th. Only two 3 putts entire round (an improvement).

Lowlights: Triple on par 4 10th after shanking drive into a tree then rinsing it. Double on par 3 13th (I still get my ass handed to me on long par 3s). Only hit 4 greens in regulation.

I also hit 4 greens for my 81. I hit 1 green for my 85 the day before that (and my wife said that it looked better than an 85!). lol.

weeeeeeee ship the first hole in one!

My local 9 hole (8 par 3, 1 par 4) course. Taken me 3 years to do this, having hit the pin too many times

Pin was at the front, so i went with a hard SW (about 125yds)

Could tell it would be close from the moment i hit it, pitched about 1 foot from the pin and spun in . I only get 2 feet of spin max, so glad it was close lol.

Final score was 30 (par 28), the course gets so much traffic the greens are pretty poor, but i dont care all that much.

Congrats, Badminton! Hole-in-ones are a funny stat. I was watching the golf channel over the wknd and heard John Smoltz say he has 5 and then a little later heard Bubba Watson say he's never had one.

Yeh, i'm so glad i've finally got one, the euphoric feeling afterwards was pretty stupid when i think about it

Once on the same course one of my friends got back to back hole in ones (im not kidding, wish i was)............Needless to say he's not had one since.

44 - 36 = 80

Brag - +1 on the back

Beat - 2 three putts including 1 from gimme range

Variance - Got the members bounce when I needed it

Haha yea. For some reason the best rounds usually aren't the prettiest. I went out a few days before and was hitting the ball better than I have in a while, and I shot a 94 due to a bunch of 3 putts. The 88 I shot I missed almost every green but was able to get it up and down on a lot of them. Not pretty but it worked.

50-43=93 for my 2nd ever sub 100 round and my best score. Been trying to break 100 on my local course (par 73 - 7000 odd yards) for ages and I finally did it, can't stop smiling!

From an interview with Smoltz:

Yeah. I had a hole-in-one at Shadow Creek on a par 4, number 11. That was by far the most ridiculous, incredible -- you name it.

43 (par 35). So ****ing bad. Super easy course setup. 2/6 fairways, 3/9 greens, 19 putts including 4 three putts.

I think my putter has finally earned a vacation. Missing two footers is getting real old.

I've witnessed 2 hole in ones in my life, and both of them were done by the hacker in my group (one being my dad who was playing for his third time ever and somehow hit a 165 yard downhill par 3 with his 7 iron lol).

Last two rounds:

4/23 - East Lake Golf Club
3-man scramble (one of us hit would two shots on alternating holes) for GT MBA golf tournament
66 (-6)

My first I had gone to the driving range a few times before this considering, well, it's ****ing East Lake, but I hadn't played a real round since winter. At the range I had made a concerted effort to shorten my swing and keep my wrists more still. I'm pretty tall and flexible so I don't lose a ton of distance but I can hit much more consistently when I'm doing this.

That course is amazing. Beautiful fairways, perfect (and FAST) greens, just a pleasure to play. I hit surprisingly well, my teammates carried me when they needed to, and we ended up in 3rd place.

5/22 - Brown's Mill
88 (+16)

First time breaking 100 in about 18 months, and also my first time breaking 90. Previous best score was 96, so I have no idea where this round came from. I do know that I'm going to win the OOB Golf 2p2 group for best net round this month with my -10, so suck it everyone else.

I just hit a ton of fairways and my "misses" weren't bad at all, maybe 4-6 feet off the fairway in most cases. No bunkers, only one lost ball OB. Golf was more fun for that 4 hours than it has ever been before. Now if I could just putt...

It's a weird thing. I'm sure you were the same way, but I just kept waiting for it to all fall apart. We actually started on 10 so I came out and shot 42 on my first 9. When I got around to 2-3-4 it started to go. I just hit some bad shots, finally duffed one, had some serious trouble below an elevated green, stuff like that.

It all came back together though after that and I finished strong. I will say that my first 2 shots on 9 (my 18) knowing I just had to get a bogey to break 90 were some of the most nerve-wracking shots I remember lining up. The drive went a little right, but my 9i was perfect, about 6 inches off the green and 12 feet from the pin.

Shot an 85 on the 68.8/122 again today. My best round at that course. 5 pars on the front 9 and was feeling good about it. I fell apart on the par 5s though because my driver was awful. I was hitting low hooks all day. Fortunately I compensated with my aim and I managed to get a lot of roll down the fairways lol. Also managed to par the last 3 holes so all in all one of the better rounds I've played despite the ****ty driving.

83 on a 73,7/131 par 72 course. For once I'm hitting my driver straight, irons are ok, short game is poor... Not too unhappy with my play overall though.

last 6 days: 48, 86, 90, 89, 92, 45 - +18 skins during this time though - started first lesson with a pro last friday and will see him once a week from now until who knows when.... the 45 really chapped my ass yesterday because i had a 31 through 7 (finished off my opponent on hole 7) then threw in a 7-ball on each of the last two holes

FML lost my lob wedge the other day (beside the green, forgot to pick it up). 2 days on yet to be handed in, doubt it will be.

I rely on that thing too much from <110yds.

Using my SW doesn't feels so alien.

Anyone know any good LW's on the market atm?

Thanks

Brag: broke 50 on the back nine with a 49 (first time ever).

Beat: it's 2100 yards and a par-32. And the front nine was atrocious. I went to the driving range before the round--not something I usually do, but I had a gift certificate that included range balls. I tried to get my driver and fairway woods going, but couldn't, and that shot my confidence all to hell and I couldn't hit my irons or wedges either. Once I got on the course I couldn't hit anything other than my wedges. It sucks because this course is 1000 yards shorter than the one I usually play, and had I been hitting my 8-iron as well as I have been my last few rounds I probably could have taken at least ten shots off my score.

Variance: The course rating system is so messed up it's ridiculous. The course I play the most (Brechtel Park) is a 5800-yard par-70 with a 66.0 rating and a 96 slope. The course I played today (City Park) is a 4800-yard par-67 with a 63.7 rating and a 104 slope. So because I suck and have the maximum handicap (36.4), I get 31 strokes at Brechtel but 34 at City Park, even though I've averaged 118 in my last two rounds at City Park and probably something like 130 or more in my rounds at Brechtel. I realize the system has its limitations when it comes to golfers as bad as I am, but it's severely messed up.
