Buy one that you have been fitted for on a launch monitor, by someone who knows what they are doing. As to what model, it all comes down to what you like the look of.

For the benefit of the OP, the above statement is wrong on so many levels it's tough to put into words. Just disregard it completely and you'll be better off.

Drivers are weird.. its kind of hard to go wrong as long as you match up the right shaft with the right head. You can have the same loft/shaft in 2 different types of drivers and get 2 different launch angles/spin rates.

What I'm trying to say is that, as long as you go through the process of getting fit, for whatever brand of driver that you choose, you should come out with a club that gets you close to max distance.

just my opinion

there's a reason taylormade is #1 on tour by a mile and its not because they pay the players more/better

Yea, they are so great that they literally explode when you hit them... The D1 and D2 weren't very good (at least they don't explode when hit), but the 905R is an amazing driver. And when the 909 comes out, I'm fairly certain it will be an improvement from their last 2 models.

i hit the callaway hyper x today. really-really nice. despite the club speed measurements yesterday (85-87mph) the regular shaft kept pushing the ball straight right, but further than ever before. i think i need just a smidge above regular flex. i carried between 225-250. definitely looking to buy the driver in the callaway line. probably a used big bertha 460 or X 460. the hyper x is $300.

Like I said, you should really be more concerned with getting the right shaft than the right head. If you have a shaft that is pushing everything out to the right, you aren't getting as much distance as you could with something else. As long as you get put into the right shaft you are going to have success with your driver.

Also, just as a side note, you might want to try Nike and Cobra drivers.. Both have drivers comparable to what you listed above.

Yeah, TM is really good about replacing cracked heads. I had a 510 that cracked after about 3 years of playing 200 rounds/year + practice. Obviously they hadnt made the 500series for a few years. I sent it to TM through Golfsmith and got a brand new 580xd in about two weeks.

no, you cant adjust the loft, but its really easy to pop different shafts in and out

basically they put a piece on the bottom of the shaft that enables you to screw in and out different shafts to the same head...

i think there are a few companies that are doing it now

nickent is another manufacturer that comes to mind

That was just in response to the "if you want a hunk of crap.." With Taylormade releasing clubs that are exploding because of the fact that they made the walls way too thin, I don't think that people should say that they are making a better product than Titleist.

I would say TM is making a better product than Titleist right now. Titleist has gone downhill the last few years imo. Patent infringement ftw!

Like I said, the D1 and the D2 weren't that great (apparently that design team was fired), but at least they are structurally sound. Not only that, but Taylormade has been releasing basically the same club for the last 2-3 years.
