Tiger Woods' 2000 PGA Championship win seems sketchy to me! Tiger Woods' 2000 PGA Championship win seems sketchy to me!

So I was watching the replay of the 2000 PGA championship today and witnessed the most blatant gallery-aided shot ever.

Tiger's drive on 18 in the playoff goes way left and is rolling (rather slowly) toward a huge bush and some rando guy runs over, disapears into the bush and all of sudden the ball comes flying out in the other direction and lands nicely in very playable area.

LOL.

If that ball stays in the bush he has to take an unplayable and never makes par and probably loses the tournament yet this is all swept under the rug and never talked about.

LOL doublestandardments.

I didn't see the replay today but I don't remeber actually SEEING someone kick his ball. I think there was a little gulley right around that bush so it could've just been the slope or the guy running could of kicked it blatenly or accidentally.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, maybe you did see someone actually kick it or throw it or whatever.

funny, i was thinking of posting about that too.

i agree with you that something strange may have happened, but it certainly wasn't definitive that something did. and TONS of semi-informed people said nothing out of the ordinary happened. and i don't remember any articles saying something did happen, and surely the press could have tracked down some witnesses.

may's putt on 18 is probably one of the best golf calls ever. did it hit a footprint??

the only thing i'd say is there was a huge time delay....... but no, i don't know what happened.

I am trying to find a video clip of it but nothing seems to be available (obv).

The laws of physics prohibit a ball from going into the bush at such a slow rate of speed and then coming back out in the other direction at such a high rate of speed.

Couple that with the fact that you clearly see the guy run into the bush and then the ball fly out and it is really obvious the ball was thrown out.

Venturi even said something like, "Something seems odd about the way that ball came out of there..." and then a few minutes pass and Nantz says, "We just got word a rule official confirmed no one touched the ball". Ok thanks.

LOL coverupaments.

Wish I could find a video.

Obviously everyone in golf world has alot riding on the success of Tiger Woods and would never do anything to discredit his achievments less it take money off their table.

Now if it was someone else....That is a different story.

Definitely a double standard and definitely a coverup imo.

edit, didn't realize you were the OP?... my delay comment supports your theory. it seems unnatural.

butcho22, in all seriousness, cbs analysts were all over it being incredibly strange.

BTW, i think arnold palmer got a few little kicks from the gallery in his day.

I knew it would not take long for the Tiger Woods' apologists to come out of the woodwork. (nice avatar)

If you see the clip and are intelectually honest you will admit something strange happened to that golf ball.

unfortunately you and i don't KNOW.............. did you google it? what hole was it? 17th??

EDIT: maybe, if you and I were there, maybe it was plainly obvious that nothing untoward happened to his ball

I haven't seen it in awhile, but I remember thinking it seemed incredibly unnatural and that the simplest and likeliest answer was that a fan interjected himself into the competition. The fact is that I have no idea what happened, and over time I've chosen to believe that Tiger got an incredibly lucky bounce and that the competitors decided the tournament on their own.

YES, it looke like something strange happened, but YOU CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING so arguing over it is pointless.

Clearly you are part of the cover-up. They put those sycamores in in 2004.

eta: And Tim Gilpin is obv a fake name, put together from "Tim Donaghy", fishgill, and, the part that gave it away, "pin." Yeah, right, golf marshall named after pin.
