Anyway, best of luck ship.
LOL this would not have been a reason to pull out, Karsten Creek was one of the hardest courses I have ever played and several good players shot in the 80s. If you missed the fairway you were in chipping out and probably making bogey. And then if you were wide of the rough you were back at the tee hitting three. Shooting in the 80s was very easy.

Spenda... Did you guys go out and just walk the south course and laser it, or did you have a chance to play both?

Lion Kim tied for 3rd in the NCAA's after winning the Big 10. He has achilles tendonitis. When you get to that level, you play.

It's certainly a reason to pull out. If you're not playing well and you're about to spend a grand on a trip where you have no chance to qualify, you consider not playing.

If I had to make a list of reasons he wasn't playing, this would be 2 or 3. Obv injury would be 1.

I don't think anyone would ever pull out because they "aren't playing well." It might be a reason to not even try the local qualifiers, but once you've made it to the sectionals, I would think it would either be injury or some sort of personal/family issue or something

Nope. What you might not understand is that at this level, a 65 can appear at any time for no apparent reason. Golf's a strange game, scary low scores and scary high scores can manifest themselves for no reason whatsoever.

I played in that qualifier several years back. Both courses are pretty straight forward. Can't remember which course, but one of them is very short and if you get dialed in with your wedge game can go crazy low. That is where Olin Browne shot 59 to qualify one year. It took 7 under to make when I was there to give you an idea of what the number might be. Good Luck!!

We played both courses. Been a quick but good 2 days. The courses are good and in good shape. Poa annua greens, but they rolled pretty good today. They were sketchy at best late yesterday when we played the south course. There is some serious slope to them and speed downhill. Hit it good both days and feel as good as I can so I'm ready to get this started! If we can get some good reads on severe greens this might just go well.

Thanks all for the support and well wishes....there won't be live scoring but I'll tweet what I shoot right when I finish.

Not sure why the kid withdrew but I have a hard time imagining it is anything but injury. If he is that fragile that he withdrew after some bad rounds at Karsten Creek he might need to find a new hobby!

Thanks man. We rode around both courses today, didnt play all 36 b/c that would have taken way too long, but we did ride around both of them and hit shots on both courses. The South course is playing as a par 69, they turned two par 5's into par 4's. But for the most part, the course to score on is the South course. The greens are much softer and more receptive. The North course is a little longer(par 72) and the greens are much harder with more slopes and def. a bit quicker. Just gotta go out and play tomm and see what happens. Congressional here we come!

OK, I'm gonna be there. Don't think I'll make it for the 7:35 tee-time, but hopefully I get there about 9:30-10:00 or so. Take it down!

P.S. Anything I need to know about going to one of these? I've been to PGA Tour events, I just don't know exactly how the etiquette might be different for this.

You could catch us on the back nine, you'll need to ask someone how to get to ten tee on the south course. Ship has a maroon and white Texas a&m stand bag.

Still though 27 holes of watching is a lot, maybe just show up for the 2nd 18

By the way ship is off ten (north) tee for his 2nd 18, again ask someone to point it out if you haven't been there before
