Friend of mine commented "What if it was Varner?" He would probably be dead right now.

I have no idea what the details of this incident were. But it's reasonable to assume that the process for entering a sporting event is much different when you're a player vs a fan or employee.

He got treated like a citizen the entire time as would any random motorist who attempted to drive around various vehicles. Problem is when you have a courtesy car and player's pass hanging from your rear view mirror you are typically allowed and encouraged to do so.

Don't know if he would be dead, but if it was Varner some of the PGA's past policies would get brought up for sure.

I would bet a pretty penny that attaching yourself to a moving vehicle is against department policy, and was just an attempt at super escalating and going all out drama queen. You let him drive by, get the plate, and charge him with evading a traffic direction, or whatever. But no, super drama is the option taken, even against department policy. I've seen these things before and in the aftermath they always say mounting the vehicle is against policy.

Probably all charges will be dropped but one, something about evading a traffic direction. The cop should be canned for horrible judgment, going drama queen, and bringing national disrepute on the department ... based on the way it sounds. I hope there is a body cam. If it is something else, I'll adjust my first take.

I'm happy to see they even have that exception. The PGA is so spectacularly anal I would think they might DQ a player or two for missing tee times due to traffic jam. Now if dozens missed, not so much. They can't flex there.

I love how you start with the cop should not have been hanging on the car..lol.. Even if it was a bad idea, I kind of doubt he was hanging onto the car for no reason.

Whatever pass Scottie had, whatever normal "priority" protocols were in place,.... they all get overruled when an officer instructs you to do something and you disregard that instruction.

Also, keep in mind that once they were back at the station the highest levels of the department had a call to make.. No doubt they knew what the PR end of this would look like. So, two choices......

1. There was a misunderstanding and Mr. Scheffler has been released with no charges at this point. We are reviewing the whole incident.

or

2. We are going to hit him with several charges.

It seems to me, without having a clue what happened, that the department went all in.

Which, until shown otherwise, leads me to believe they are confident that Scheffler's actions were both illegal and dangerous.

PS. Just because he a nice guy, that doesn't mean that the almost automatic sense of entitlement that comes with the whole elite, high paid athlete thing don't exist in his mind as well.

if only we had some evidence that this was one of the most corrupt police departments in the country:

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justi...department-and

this is the same police department who murdered an innocent woman (Breonna Taylor) in her sleep, covered it up, paid out a $12M lawsuit, got investigated by the DOJ, found guilty of excessive force, unlawful searches and numerous other civil rights violations. its far from a stretch to think they would rather double down and drum up bullshit charges than admit they were in the wrong. Scottie is the one who gets the benefit of the doubt here until there is bodycam footage proving otherwise.

Lmfao at attaching yourself to a moving vehicle let alone one that presents zero danger to public safety in the posh suburbs of east Louisville. Stable person you've got working the scene there. OH MY ****ING GOD WE'RE IN IRAQ AND AL QUEADA IS DRIVING A DIRTY BOMB INTO THE CLUBHOUSE.
