This tournament has the best first tee announcer in all of golf. Way better than that guy at the UK British Open.

It was inevitable that Viktor would pick up a W before too long.

One thing I'm tracking is the top 50 for the 3/30 OWGR. That's five weeks off. Those not already qualified for the Masters that make this list make the Masters. My quick research shows four players of interest:

McDowell - just slipped from 47 to 49 w/ a poor performance in Mexico
Bezuidenhout - stayed at 48 after Mexico
Scheffler - from 51 to 50 after Mexico
Morikawa - from 49 to 51 after Mexico

And keep an eye on Hovland who jumped to #60 w/ his Puerto Rico win.

Seems all the evidence of him being a cheater rolling out just makes him stronger. Couldn't have happened to a bigger piece of ****.

I think most players are negatively affected by stresses from off the golf course. But with Fatrick it seems to actually help him somehow.

I was never a fan of Kostis, but now I kind of like him.
Enjoyed this, too bad there is so little of that kind of straight talk (obv understandable). NLU guys do put up some great content. The Puerto Rico curse is pretty ridic, none of the past winners have won again on the PGA tour. Except some guy who won... in Puerto Rico.

****. Betting on golf is ridiculous. You get some jackass like Mackenzie Hughes out of nowhere trying to ruin the day.

Francesco Molinari is still searching for the game he lost at Augusta National

Great read. The poor chap's game hasn't recovered since putting his tee shot into Rae's Creek on #12 that fateful Sunday. Not one single top-10 worldwide since that round.

That's crazy because he was looking totally bulletproof up to that point.

indeed

He's in a minor slump (as the article states, he's missed 5 cuts in his last 18 tournaments which isn't THAT bad). But, I do think he was on an incredible heater from 2018-2019 (through the Masters), that probably wasn't really representative of his general level. He got as high as #7 around then but I don't think he's really a long term top-10 player.

I looked up his OWGR at the end of each of the last few years:

2014: 55
2015: 66
2016: 31
2017: 21
2018: 7
2019: 18
Current: 26

I'd say he is a solid Top-30 player and will regain his form somewhat to stay in that range... but his amazing run in 2018 would be hard for him to repeat, with the level of competition he's up against.

Anytime I see Molinari's name my first thought is always... poor Edoardo.

Haha. A friend told me about Molinari recently and I asked, "Which one?"

He kinda didn't know how to respond.
