How short a putt was it that Z-Man missed there late??
05-22-2022 , 07:00 PM
Will made two pressure putts on the last two holes.
if you're prone to betting the roulette short term odds, bet red.

Thanks I didn't see it, was in other room and from announcer I thought it was much shorter than that.

did that police siren put Will off?
05-22-2022 , 07:14 PM
Pressure swing from JT.

So-so follow from Will. Gonna be an uphill climb now.

Bones on the bag about to bag another major?
05-22-2022 , 07:24 PM
Just had a feeling if this got to a playoff with JT he was going to dominate. His game is too good today.

Also, every tournament should do a 3 hole playoff. 1 hole is dumb and either favors one player over the other randomly or is a bad hole for a playoff and causes it to be replayed many times.

JT is so boring

predicting Will'z gunna get that putting figgered out and dominate for the next decade
totally serious, not joking

Wasn't he one of the best putters this week?

Thur & Fri. Not Sat & Sun.

his putting Fri was a sun run, got pretty wobbly as things progressed, but he made a couple of clutch ones to finish regulation. Thomas just too good today.

was a great putting tournament for Will. and he'll be able to bank those clutch putts at the end (especially on #18 b/c he said he knew Mito drove into the water and that that putt was almost def for a playoff).

for the record, his SG PUTT per round avg was +1.17. he was tenth SG PUTT out of those players that made the cut (not counting Tiger).

Only caught the last few holes and playoff, delivered nicely.

I thought the course setup was pretty good. Lots of risk/reward, good mix of hard and birdie holes. Also glad I don't have to play out of that rough on a regular basis.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Par 70 majors but this one was set up nicely and set up for a great finish.

Super major championship course, just a bit weird with those ties behind greens on 7 and 12.

18 reminds me a bit of 18 at Carnoustie. Great finishing hole. Almost necessary to hit a dead straight tee ball.

IIRC Cameron Young was 300:1 to win, Brendan Steele was 540:1, not sure about Pereira or Kirk but they both had to be up there as well. Tee-to-green guys all did real well here.

Feel bad for Mito, that was such a tight swing on 18. Nerves obviously got to him.

I'm not sold on Will getting the putting figured out. It's pretty shaky and some guys are great ball strikers but never become good putters (Keegan Bradley for ex.). That being said he hits the ball so great that he can still win a major even if he just putts OK.

Was majorly impressed by Cam Young, probably wins if he didn't botch 16 so bad. Atrocious bunker shot.

Will’s putting stoke is not built for pressure.
05-23-2022 , 10:52 AM
It may or may not be, but it is still certainly good enough to win. Putt on 18 for par was ballsy.

Really JT just did exactly what he needed to, stuffed a wedge on 13 to keep pace in the playoff and then hit a fantastic tee ball on 17. When Will didn't match it is pretty hard to win the playoff at that point.

The putting throughout the tournament evened out for Will, rolled it like a god on Thurs/Fri and not so much on the weekend.

He does look like a horse for the course at majors.

I wonder which of those three guys woke up this morning kicking himself the hardest. Must be a huge mental hammer to get that close to winning.

Yeah, it looked like his swing was breaking down towards the end. Hopefully, he can make whatever minor swing or mental game adjustments are needed and doesn't try a major swing overhaul.
