I'm Canadian, but not a real defender of Mike Weir. I'm proud he won the masters, but thought he was/is overrated. When he was ranked 6th in the world, I thought 20th was more appropriate at the time. You can't continue to get birdiers on par 5's with your SW and LW and compete against the bombers. Not to mention the long par 4 trouble he has.
Also, I don't know how many times Weir has had a good round and just blew up on one hole or spewed stokes on 17 and 18. He is a grinder, but I don't think he's clutch.
I do, however, have an easy arguement to why/how he won a masters.
1. He's 12th on the career money list and nobody above him is without at least one major. I know this is an off list because it is heavily weighted on who won money in the 2000s, but nonetheless, he and all the other 12 have at least one major.
2. He has 9 wins in 9 years. Is it that suprising that one of them was a major?
3. Augusta is not long (Zach Johnson won). If Weir in is prime was going to win a major, I think it would be the Masters, where iron play and putting rule.
PITTM, consdidering the above, why is it odd that Weir won a masters. Don't you have some better bones to pick with...

Weir has the same # of career wins as all 4 of these major winners -- combined.......
