KingJames, do you know about the history of Gypsum Creek? That course also seems too nice for a muni course at the price they charge for it.

I don't - but based on the name of the town and the American Gypsum mining company that's still in operation over there I'd bet they had a part in it. It was a club and then the town bought it in 2010 so almost certainly recession related. Pete Dye design and it's a pretty fun course. I mostly play Eagle Ranch when I go that way, and have only played Gypsum a few times.

Speaking of changes to the golf course. Mine just received $8 million from Club Corp to make it a top tier course in their mix. The North is going to be shut down in the spring to get new greens like the South course. Also all new tee boxes, tree removal, and they are adding 350y to make it 7k. I think their goal is to get some of the top FSGA events here.

Non-course stuff they are reducing the pro shot to 1/4 of the size it is now. The saved space is going to be a fine dining private table area. Also going to bring back white glove fancy dinner on the weekends. Clubhouse expansion is also going to be done. Right now it looks like it was built in 1980.

The tree removal is happening right now. It's like clear-cutting out of my window currently.

Can't wait for them dues increases.

KJ - thanks for sharing that. it sure seems those modifications are going to be for the good. muni courses should always be trying to find the happy balance between the challenge of the layout and pace of play. it's hard for a course to overcome the stigma of being known for slow rounds, and muni courses need to keep those tee sheets filled to survive.

I'm putting Battlement Mesa on the list next time I head to the western slope, for sure. Can make a double mesa trip, Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction is a fantastic course.

If you have time go to Devil's Thumb as well in Delta. Cool area and a bargain for a good course

And hit me up if you want a guide around Battlement

Does someone at the golf channel get fired if they show more than 15mins live golf in any hour?

Really, really good. They heavily sanded the fairways recently, which is why we have problems right now, but that will be short lived and we'll be golden. With heavy, heavy rains we'll get some pooling, but when it stops raining they drain really nice. Obviously I'm biased, but AGCC has to be one of the best kept courses in the state. Our superintendent had an offer from Pumpkin Ridge and he declined. Thank god.

Dunes are totally shaved for the winter, which is excellent, ha.

Cam Davis played my home course Saturday and Sunday last weekend (I guess his wife has family in the area). Shot 69 and 64. I happened to be out on the deck when they finished up on Sunday and shot the **** with him and his group for a while (and our head pro, who played with them). Really nice guy. Our course is pretty open so I saw where a few of his drives ended up; totally different game. One of our short par 4s is 300 yards, but a really difficult green to hit or even go for from the tee (I do not have the option, ha) due to a tough, sloped green, heavy sloping on both sides, and a complete drop off. Pin was in the far back in front of the drop off, and he stuck god knows what club to 4 feet. I guess it's easier to pull that trigger when you're playing casual.

any serious golf course should place the head soup adjacent to the top shelf of the org chart
without, you're cooked

College buddy just joined. Cool place and I tend to be underwhelmed by Fazio. Here’s another

yeah, that color is a vibrant green that requires a lot more resources than a course in that region should expend to achieve it
i suspect they're pumping hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen on the reg, potassium and phosphorus in different doses as well

Took advantage of the $100 fitting (when you order) at Club Champion and scheduled it 12/19. Main goal is to find a driver and shaft that suits. Secondary would be to try shafts in irons. I have the 2017 P790's and likely to stay in those again. Since getting PX LZ seems difficult I need to find an alternative. Other than that I am happy with fairway woods, hybrids, wedges, and def putter. I guess one option would be to weigh the 5 iron against a 3rd hybrid.

The end of Part 2 above has the same energy as the Jackass sketch where they hide in the bushes and blow an airhorn when people are teeing off. One guy gets super pissed off and aims at them and they blow it again when he tries to hit them, and it legit reduces me to tears every time I watch it.

Last MGA event of the season tomorrow. 2 man teams. Front 9 Modified Chapman, Back 9 Shamble.

Honestly if I knew it was that format I would have passed on playing. My playing partner is my boss who doesn't hit the ball a long ways. I'm going to have a lot of mid to long irons into par 4's for the Chapman part.

Anyone know of any good fun formats for team games.

Right now we have been alternating between,

- Stableford best 3 scores per hole

- Scramble (I think Texas.... everyone drives everyone hits 2nd and everyone takes putts)

- 3 club with stableford best 3 count

- Golden Ball same as the stableford best 3 scores count, However 1 person has the golden ball per hole it alternates person to person on every hole you score double points for the hole you have it on. If you physically lose the ball that's the end of it and you won't be able to get double points from that point on.

- Did a 7 iron challenge but that was boring to me with the above stableford.

We have a lot of higher handicappers playing in these if that matters at all. Normally 4v4 but we do get numbers between 8-12 sometimes so it could be 4v4v4 or 3v3v3.

Time for "The Match". Have it on a screen on mute, will be interested to see if it's compelling enough to keep me from switching back to hockey. I'm expecting boatloads of commercials.

Was decent enough. Tiger's foot looks seriously messed up, and yet he STILL can play that good. Was fun since I know that course as well as I do.

is it the "Plantar fasciitis" injury?

I've had it twice, Once right now but it's not super bad. 3 or so years ago though I landed a little bit funny after going for a header in football/soccer. Back then it was extremely painful and weirdly enough when you're actually not doing any sport activities at least for me it was almost if the injury had gone,

I learned the hard way of thinking this and kept taking part in football matches, I remember the last match I played on it I come on as a substitute and had to come off 5 minutes later. After this I just stopped playing and took me 6 months to fully get over it without any special treatment. Not sure how I obtained the injury this time as I don't really remember a specific moment, It's on my lead foot for golf I think it would probably worse if it was on the trail foot.

I still play football now but only small sided games. However I've taken the past month off and continued to play golf (Probs not the best idea) I only really feel it hurting when it comes to the latter holes. Where I most feel it though is when I take Golf shoes off as they are rather on the tighter side.

Ping put on offer 55 gold-plated putters. Went live at 2:00, I checked at 2:05 because I was curious what one would sell for. Too late, sold out, event ended.

I haven't swung a club in about 2 months. I wander into this forum every few days but I didn't see any mention of a single miracle shot recently. Very disappointed.

On foot stuff:

My right heel really dislikes certain maneuvers and positions. First time I felt that pain was skateboarding late 90s. My best guess is that many innings as catcher, and using my right foot as the ground pushing foot on a skateboard seems to have caused too much consistent strain in that spot. To this day I still get the sharp stabbing feeling in my heel if I try to skateboard. Physical labor, and the various positions I find myself in, comes with its physical strain and the heel is just one more spot to favor at this point. Cest la vie.

Hit it where the mowers go boys.
